Ah thats right. So UBI takes 20% of the coins myself and anyone else mines and puts it in the "UBI Pool" as are calling it right? Then those coin goes towards artists for the streams of their songs right? Is the goal here to incentivize artists to join with the musicoin streaming?

The miners will essentially be paying for the streaming. They will be the backbone of the network, as I understand it.

Redacting their arrangement with $Music last minute is not a good look for Musiconomi. I am certain this will hinder their ICO unless reconsidered.

Nonetheless, $Music is the stronger project. I'll keep with them.

I think what we see with Musicoin vs. Musiconomi is two different approaches. Musicoin is squarely focused on a new paradigm, while Musiconomi gives a lot of nods to the old. Both approaches have their merit.

Personally though, I believe that Musicoin is taking a path that will satisfy both the new artist and the old industry.

Musiconomi can make valuable services for everyone, but at this point it seems like their % are too skewed to really help many. It seems like that breakdown will just reinforce the old paradigm where no one gets much money, like Soundcloud, Spotify, etc. That's just my unprofessional take from it all, so far.

The other thing I think worth mentioning though, is that at this point, all other Music blockchain projects must be measured  against Musicoin. I think that is valuable in and of itself.

In answer to my own question:

-------------------------- from musiconomi crowdsale faq --------------------------

Why does Musiconomi use the ETH blockchain instead of Musicoin?

The Musicoin blockchain project will not be large enough to support the required transactions, security updates and functions that will be required for the Musiconomi platform. After long internal discussions and the direction that the Musicoin blockchain is going, we felt that our end users would have a better overall experience on the ETH blockchain.

-------------------------- -------------------------- --------------------------

This is an interesting answer. The Musiconomi team, which was part of Musicoin initially, said that the Ethereum blockchain was too slow for Music consumption, and that is one of the reasons Musicoin decided to start their own blockchain. I'm not a fintech expert, but I do wonder if the Ethereum blockchain could sustain several music tokens with thousands of teenagers listening to music all day. It's already slow now.

From the Musiconomi perspective, I think starting with ETH is right for them because they plan to provide services, it looks like, for the many music blockchains. As most right now are being developed on ETH, it wouldn't make sense to do so otherwise. But even then the question remains: can the existing Ethereum blockchain sustain daily use of music at this point? If anyone knows this, please chime in.

Musicoin and Opus seem as though they would compete. How does this partnership work?

Also, qhat should I do to prep for the hardfork?

I think there are aspects of Musicoin that Opus might want to integrate. After all, it is the only one tried and tested so far. Also, I think the space is so new, that invariably many of these companies are going to join, merge, split, etc. So that is why I think Musicoin is the safest bet right now, is that it already has a track record and brings value to any merger or alliance, and in the short term, is the competition for whichever blockchain finally comes online next.

Re: MUSICOIN vs. SOUNDCHAIN: which is better?
by

I dont know about soundchain but i expect a good jump from Musicoin. Musiconomi crowdsale is almost starting i m sure that it is going to affect on the price of musicoin. Moreover there are many people mining musicoin and i dont think they will sell their coins without a good raise.

The fact that Musicoin is mined, I believe, is a positive, as it draws energy from the crypto communinty. It gives it a more independent and firm foundation.

Re: ArtByte vs Musicoin
by

Musicoin is inflationary coin I don't think it is a good coin to invest supply is big a lot of miners mine it.

This inflationary argument vs. Musicoin I think is a misconception. People use Musicoins to listen to music, currently. Soon, it will be like a fraction of a Musicoin. (About 2 weeks I hear). When that happens, the price will go up I'm guessing.

As for Artbyte vs. Musicoin, I think they are like apples and oranges really. Artbyte's music support is really just an online shopping cart you could do with Bitcoin. Whereas Musicoin is a streaming platform geared to ongoing, live music consumption.

I think both are cool coins. but Musicoin, as the name suggests, is for Music.

So really, ArtByte is the only coin that has a working platform for musicians and it went live a year ago or so. The other two are not developed yet.

This is wrong, Musicoin has been active since February 2017.
The last I checked Soundchain it was about the same as most music cryptos, talk about how they will help the artist, but no working model.

Musicoin is the only one that has consistently given rewards. Numerous people can vouch for the money they've made mining it. Musicians are uploading music. People are listening. It has also done some world firsts, like fully enabling the DJ mix. Actually a world's first.

https://steemit.com/music/@theharddata/the-world-s-first-blockchain-enabled-dj-mix

Artbyte is good too. But Musicoin, for music, is better, and blows everything else out of the water right now.

I'm interested in Artbyte but haven't fully explored it yet. Musicoin I mine and listen to music on the platform. As much as Soundcloud now, as many of my friends have uploaded their music.

Hello guys,

Im currently mining some Musicoin , great comunity and i believe in this project.. But im very new in this cryptomining world.

I would like to ear some advice and opinion about Musicoin.

(Sorry for bad english)

best regards for u all Smiley
Not a thing that I would want to invest in because there is no usuage for it outside of the online exchanges. If people want to make money through music or they want to be on Bitcoin’s Blockchain then they could just use Bitcoin. There was a bunch of Music coins built already and the people that built those projects went on to building something else.

Use the right amount of money when investing into a project like that because you could lose every Bitcoin on it.

With all due respect, I must 100% disagree. People are using and listening on and with Musicoin right now. Its the only truly functional music crypto right now. And has made a lot of great gains recently. For example, this: https://steemit.com/music/@theharddata/the-world-s-first-blockchain-enabled-dj-mix

Great working platform gaining power! I have strong feeling about it.

Yeah its refreshing that a crypto has real users, a real system, and that it actually works. The DJ mix thing is going to be cool because it will open up the whole community for massive sharing and adopting the currency as a part of their lives.
It would be nice if Musicoin got integrated into some of the payment systems, Jaxx, etc.

Musicoin hosts World’s first blockchain-enabled DJ mix

Ok folks, this is game-on. There are like 20 different Music Cryptos but only one seems to actually work, Musicoin. And, now it hosts the first DJ Mix using smart contracts to pay the artists and the DJ. This is a world first, and is going to change dance music from here on out, mark my words.
