now that the IOTA network has upgraded successfully after the snapshot, we have prepared a new GUI release for you all to guide you through the transition phase.-

GUI Download:  https://github.com/iotaledger/wallet/releases/tag/v2.4.0
- Instructions: https://blog.iota.org/new-gui-transition-phase-explained-b536ed80f412  (there is even a video)

For GUI wallets that run as a full node, please be advised that you have to delete your local database.

Hello friend.
I am presently running Iota Light Wallet 2.3.0 - IRI 1.3.0 and would like to upgrade.
To clarify, do I now run v2.4.0 to update.
Sorry for the newbie question.

New IRI Version (for full-node operators only):

https://github.com/iotaledger/iri/releases/tag/v1.3

Quote
- added Kerl as an additional hash function.
- Tips: improved memory consumption and IRI loading time.
- ZMQ:  tx topic only publishes newly stored transactions
        tx arrival time added.
        timestamps normalized to seconds.
- DB: cache size increase, to reduce flushes to disk (user-configurable)
- Node: faster broadcast priority queue
DNS refresher is now user-configurable, for troubleshooting reverse-DNS issues.
- TipSelection: bugfixes & optimizations to MCMC.

First snapshot as a part of 3-step phasing to the final design of transaction structure

@here For all full nodes, we are releasing the newly updated IRI version ahead of the GUI wallet. Please get it from here and follow the instructions:

- *Download*: https://github.com/iotaledger/iri/releases/tag/v1.3
- Before upgrading to this version *ensure that your local database is deleted*. This means that your `mainnetdb` and `mainnet.log` folders are completely removed!
- Also make sure that your neighbors are upgraded before you restart the new IRI. Preferably you will get new neighbors from #nodesharing.

For ALL other users, wait for new GUI wallet release, delete old wallet, install new wallet, login with your old seed, press one button, finished  Grin

This is not a "claim", if you dont do anything nothing is lost!!!

I am presently running the Iota Light Wallet 2.3.0 - IRI 1.3.0.
To clarify, is there a new GUI wallet release coming for this wallet?
Thanks.

There are plans to add XEM on new exchanges?
Is XEM support already working on Trezor, i think about to buy one.

You can already order one, the shippment takes some time currently. The NEM-Integration going to  happen this month. If you get your Trezor before that, then you will just update your Trezor with the Firmware whenever it is ready.

Hello friends.  I have a couple of questions and would appreciate replies.

I am considering purchasing a new computer and will move my crypto wallets there.  So should I just install the same or recent wallet versions of each coin
and then my current password will open the wallet and my correct balance is displayed?  As I understand I should destroy the hard drive of
the old computer to protect the security of the crypto wallets.  Is this correct.

Also, can someone briefly explain how Trezor works.  Do you just download the NEM wallet to it and then it works like a desktop wallet.  Do you still need
a desktop wallet?

Thanks.

Say,  I recently converted to the NanoWallet and am considering a password change.

Is there a way to update to a new password?

Thanks.

Hello friends,

I have been running NCC 0.6.91 - Beta with no problem and always synchronizing.
Today when the wallet opened it says NIS is not available and wallet is not synchronized.
Can you help me.
Thank you.

So if you are running a local NIS, it must have stopped running for some reason.
If you use a remote NIS, you should choose another NIS to connect to.

Thanks.  Please tell me where to find another node.

Answered my own question.  Smiley
 Click Settings
In the box labeled Host, replace “local host” with the IP address that you have obtained by running a node yourself, or an IP you have found on Node Explorer. Then press save.
If you use "Node Explorer" you should use IP location of your country of origin for quicker connection.  (Germany, U.S. United Kingdom for example).
You should now see a green status bar at the top of your screen. This indicates that your NEM client is connected to a fully synchronized NEM node (NIS) and you are good to go!
Hope this helps someone.

I contacted Kraken Support about adding NEM/XEM to their market and the fellow emailed me saying that they are always open to adding a digital asset.
He didn't provide further details however.

I ever wondered how DASH managed to get on Kraken, DASH is a bit shady IMHO.

Hope the devs are interested in getting XEM to Kraken, 50k usd isn't much for them or even for our community.

I'll guess we could manage this without the devs if we want, we would just need about 310000 XEM at current price.

A very good idea! We should collect the 310000 XEM. Maybe the devs are willing to contribute the difference between collected and needed XEM (just in case that we aren't able to collect the whole bunch of 310000)

I would be willing to contribute as it would increase awareness of NEM/XEM.  It might be a good idea to do a Community Proposal to obtain funding from the Community
Fund too.

Say, did the  NEM Framework proposal pass?  I believe they asked for 15 million XEM from the Community Fund.  310000 XEM is a reasonable number for greater
exposure on Kraken.  It is a first class operation.

Are there merchants that accept xem  as payment?

I know of this: http://mynem.store
I wouldn't trust that site. It's not secure.

Just because it is http? You pay by making a separate XEM transfer with your favorite client, payment is not integrated into the store.

Gulden allows you to pay at Gulden or Bitcoin merchants.  Is this a possibility with XEM in the future?

It's a coin that is in top volume every-single-fucking-day on Poloniex. It should move more.

Nope, unless you are talking top 20. XEM has very low volume:

As an early investor in NEM/XEM, i would like to give my opinion for what it's worth.  I too believe that the core Devs should be congratulated
for the success of the NEM platform.

I am concerned, however, that the many fine features of NEM are being overlooked in the private/public sector because of a lack of marketing and
awareness.  I think it's important to remember the advantage of a first mover in the market.  More businesses and banks, for example, are likely
to incorporate the NEM platform into their financial scheme if a contact person communicates with them.

As you can see, there are many cryptocurrency coins competing with Bitcoin to be the next first mover.  I believe that it is important for NEM/XEM to be
marketed aggressively to gain a first mover advantage so that banks and businesses consider its' adoption.  A full time marketeer would be able to
promote and raise awareness of NEM/XEM and gain a first mover advantage in the private/public sector.  This would hasten the adoption and valuation
of NEM/XEM.

At the very least the core developers of NEM/XEM should publicly weigh in on this project before a vote is taken:

1.  Will it benefit and support the NEM platform in the future?
2.  Is the cost of  this project reasonable as presented.
3.  Will the value of XEM increase for shareholders with its' implementation?

Most of us can only speculate on the value and cost of this project and need the honest assessment of the NEM developers  to form an opinion.

NEM team hasn't a cristal ball to know the future for sure.

Anyway the president of NEM Foundation  (rockethead ) already expressed his thoughts about this project.

After rereading his response (Page 1640)  I will vote "yes" for the project.

I just downloaded and logged into the recently released Mainnet Release: Iota Light Wallet v2.2.5 after deleting the Light Wallet v2.1.1. database.
The transfers were seamless and instantaneous.
Kudos to the Iota team.

When O when will we see the public chain actually being used by someone? This private stuff is all well and good but it's also tangential. I'm not sure I've seen a single publicised project on the public chain.

I share your concern gentlemand.  Is it correct to say that the actual value of XEM will only increase for investors and users when it is used on the public chain or am I missing something? I am not a tech guy and appreciate all comments.

Hello friends,

I have had no problem opening my NEM wallet until today.  When I tried to open it today by clicking on the NEM icon, the NIS is running
(fully synchronized) and the NCC starts for a second and then stops.  The wallet page does not open in the browser and I get a message
"This site can't be reached, Local host refused to connect."  Basically the NCC is not running.

I am not high tech and I am looking for the easiest fix to open my wallet again.  My first thought is to reinstall the wallet. Thoughts?
I also read an earlier post that says to navigate to c:\users\ Nem\ncc and delete file accounts cache mainet.Json and then try to restart.

Please advise and thank you.

I believe this is the cure. "I also read an earlier post that says to navigate to c:\users\ Nem\ncc and delete file accounts cache mainet.Json and then try to restart."

Thanks fragout.  This worked like a charm and I'm back in business.  I needed a "push" to navigate and delete.  Best regards to you.

Should ordinary users download 1.0.3.eta also, or do you prefer that just bootstrapping servers use it?

The latter.

Hello Come-from-Beyond.  I am using the 1.0.1 exe wallet as an ordinary user.  Do you recommend staying with this wallet for the foreseeable future or updating?  I
understand 1.0.4 is coming soon.

Thanks for your response.

So can I have my computer fully shutdown and it will still harvest? when using delegated harvasting. let me know please. thanks in advance.

Yes if you use delegated harvesting on another computer you can shut down your computer.

This is a tricky answer. lol
So what if I'm only using 1 computer..
Because you said "If I use delegated harvesting on ANOTHER computer" you mean who ever picked up my delegated harvesting for me? sorry just a little confused.

When you´re using delegated harvesting, the Supernodes do the harvesting for you. So your Computer must not run.

So I recently converted to delegated harvesting on my PC.  In order to harvest XEM, I activate delegated harvesting, close my wallet and shut down my computer.  I cannot
use my computer, for example the internet, and do delegated harvesting at the same time.  Is this correct?  This could be better explained on the main NEM page under "How
to use Delegated Harvesting."  Thanks in advance.
