We will be establishing a better communication path to the PotCoin community very soon. I can't say much about the PotCoin 3.0 plans yet since we are finalizing plans before the end of this month, but I can tell you that there will be a some big news coming up in the next couple of weeks that the community will be pleased with.

One of the many goals is to ensure the community has the opportunity to have a larger role in the coin and that they feel supported in their endeavors. We also aim to make online merchant adoption far easier, along with universal applications for consumer to merchant transactions. Some changes will be swift over the next two months. Others, such as software development and third party integration, are time and budget bound and in some cases dependent on future tech, so please be patient and know that this is far from a dead coin. Honestly, for a 1 year start-up tech company I would be generally happy with the results, but the cryptocurrency industry can be brutal at times. Keep in mind that PotCoin is unique in that we serve a specific community and culture where our strategies put less of a priority on software development in comparison to community adoption.

Wasn't that the same mantra of PotCoin 2.0 ??

Fair enough, my friend. I left PotCoin Systems officially on October 1st, 2014 along with Alec Rochford, my cousin and now CEO of Duby. There was a disagreement on strategies for managing PotCoin Systems and budgetary concerns as capital rapidly dried up with the fall of Bitcoin late last year. Alec and I made the decision to turn the majority of our investments into a new mobile application based on a concept of viral social networking that we had been designing over the past year in our "spare time". However, we continued to support the PotCoin community, invest in the coin, manage social media, and manage all the servers since then. So, to more accurately answer your question... yes, it was my mantra and still is, but now we will be able to execute it properly as a community and not a company. PotCoin 2.0 had such intentions in mind from the get go, but we had to focus on our branding, apps, legalities, and overall growing up from the Pothead down the street and into a real company capable of obtaining large capital investment. Sometimes it simply takes time for a message to sink in before a coordinated action can be negotiated successfully.

I expect the Colorado M.E.D. to be content, or at least officially take no position with the use of virtual currencies for the exchange of marijuana in Colorado (as expected). Our attorneys and I have worked on this for some time now and feel that it will set a historical precedent in the industry by removing concerns for dispensary owners, growers and manufacturers of infused products in Colorado. We are fortunate that Colorado, unlike Washington and Oregon, allows for public submission of requests for a statement of position on their rulings. This will serve a unique advantage in my local territory and will shape history by setting a precedent for other legalized states moving forward.

That's positive news.

Indeed. I expect a response within the next two weeks. This will be a historic moment for cannabis crypto as the first official acknowledgement from a government entity relating to virtual currencies and legalized marijuana sales.

There is a lot happening right now in PotCoin. Heck there is a lot happening in all three of my marijuana businesses... it's almost 4.20! It's like Christmas to retailers... everything is nuts 3 months before the rush.

Wasn't there a guy that was going to work on PR, and specifically forum communication here?  I think his name was Russ or something.  I would have to go back and look, but he was supposed to be the liaison to the forums.  That went nowhere, fast.

If POT is doing things, and not the "we paid this guy X amount of bitcoin to say potcoin was cool" type things, then you need to announce it here as well.  90% of your miners, new and old, are going to come from these forums.  You lost a ton of them when you took Reddit user opinions over that of veteran miners.  If you want to win back miners, and help the coin in the long run, don't just blow smoke up our ass here.

Fuse,

Let me start by giving credit to Fuse. You rock brother! You have been a very active member of this community for quite some time and I love your witty insight. Thank you for calling me out.

Leaving me to write on the forums may not the best idea, although I aim to empower and employ others to represent the coin properly. Yes, I write fairly well and enjoy doing it, but I am a very busy man. I am running several cannabis start-up companies at the moment and I consider PotCoin to be one of them. Even though I left PotCoin as CIO to pursue my latest interest, Duby (duby.co) a mobile app launching in next month, I still work closely with the founders regularly and will be happy to provide my insight at such an opportune time.

We will be establishing a better communication path to the PotCoin community very soon. I can't say much about the PotCoin 3.0 plans yet since we are finalizing plans before the end of this month, but I can tell you that there will be a some big news coming up in the next couple of weeks that the community will be pleased with.

This is a monumental year for cannabusiness and the best times have yet to come. Yes, there is a driver at the wheel and a crew to change the tires. The PotCoin Stig is behind the wheel of this rally car and I'm navigating with a crew of founders, devs, and vibrant community.

I expect the Colorado M.E.D. to be content, or at least officially take no position with the use of virtual currencies for the exchange of marijuana in Colorado (as expected). I welcome criticism. Frankly, it's deserving since PotCoin Systems has been relatively quiet recently. A new PotCoin is on the horizon and I can assure you that we are working diligently behind the scenes. I make a personal promise to be more transparent in the future through multiple media outlets. Have faith my friends, a new PotCoin is in our future.

No coin will be next to BTC.

There are lot of coins try to be next to BTC, but very few of them in the race.

I was speaking of utility within a specific community, specifically cannabis users who maintain a distinct culture and one that mimics many of the facets of virtual currencies such as anonymity, sharing economies, decentralization, and an aversion to regulation.

Where Does Potcoin Stand in the Cryptocurrency World
http://bitforum.info/t/what-is-potcoins-deal-in-the-cryptocurrency-world/297

Is it next to Bitcoin?

Next to Litecoin?

Next to Doge?

Or the level of Dark?

And do you think Potcoin will succeed with its name and use? Hmmmmm..

PotCoin stands to be one of the few, if only, alternative coins that has value beyond that of Bitcoin for daily transactions within a specific (and rapidly expanding) community. PotCoin has what most coins need... a tight-nit community of cannabis users and a culture of sharing and anonymity of transactions already deeply embedded in the minds of its members.

PotCoin has recently submitted a letter to the Colorado Medical Marijuana Enforcement Division (M.E.D.) for an official position on the use of virtual currencies for transactions involving the plant and THC infused products and it is expected that they will have neutral, or accepting position, either of which would tell dispensary owners in Colorado not to be concerned about accepting PotCoin for plant. Dispensaries currently accept PotCoin for a variety of products, along with roughly 50 online retailers, but until now we have not seen a anyone willing to risk their coveted license for the relatively new benefit of cashless, and nearly transaction fee free, virtual currencies. Once this step is complete it will pave the way for physical adoption and provide a path for community acceptance.

I know it sounds crazy, but so is the world of legalized marijuana that remains restricted from Federal benefits and methods of payment with "reasonable" margins other than cash. You can pile your money into other coins for a quick in and out, but if you want a long run shot at a fortune this is your coin.

The mobile wallets seem to be broken. Neither wallet.PotCoin.com nor the Android app are working properly right now. I can't sign in to either.

STATUS: wallet.potcoin.com has been confirmed working. The Android App has been replaced by the new official PotCoin web wallet that works well on mobile platforms. Keep in mind that your old wallet account will not work with the new wallet. If you have not created a new wallet account yet please do.

i would like to know what growers are going to sell 1 gram of pot under 1 penny.

cann is backed by this candy strain... who is selling this and loosing all the money?

it costs a few dollars to produce marijuana so i don't see this works in the real world and yo have to pay tax on it also.

this all sound great in principle, someone please explain to me how you see this working exactly.

They are the "Capitalist Move". Nothing more than blatant hype and a monstrous scam.

Let's spend a minute to get the facts straight on this subject please.

You cannot back a cryptocurrency without a contract for the asset in writing and you certainly cannot back an international currency/property with a product that is illegal in all but a handful of places around the world, medical or not.

PotCoin Systems is the company behind the coin that supports an open community of developers around the world. We are not a pure development team like other coins. Yes, we have developers on staff such as myself, but the company is here to provide support the coin and community through centralized marketing, shared computing resources, team organization, project management, and support to the amazing independent community devs who have made PotCoin what it is today in any way that we can. (See today's post: http://www.potcoin.com/potcoin-community/)

Lastly, this is no scam nor blatant hype. We have many people that work daily to support the coin and the community. Many of them have given up their careers to support this noble cause and what will ultimately be a lucrative investment for all those that remain involved. I personally have done just that and will continue to support medical cannabis and PotCoin. We have already given thousands of dollars to charity and community developments in support of medical cannabis, legalization, and cryptocurrency and see no end in sight.

Do not believe the FUD, it's a tactic used by the insecure.

I still haven't recieved my PotCoin shirt that i won, did anybody recieve it yet?
Hmm...nothing on top of this?

1. Did they give you a tracking number?
2. What part of the world are you from (shipping and customs can add A LOT of time).
3. If you feel it has been a amazingly long amount of time try to either

post at the reddit.com/r/potcoin or e-mail then dev@potcoin.info

Much more active on reddit or their e-mail.
I've never been contacted after i gave away the address...after mentioning it here for first time, someone that had to handle it told me they got the address and sorry that they didn't reply.
I'm from EU, it should have been here in circa 10 days+- i'll give it few more days and contact them then i think..

Sorry guys, Russ has informed me that all prizes were shipped out yesterday. Apologies for the delay.  Smiley
Just be the way, should i also ask for the tracking number or just wait for it to arrive?

All prize items have been shipped and tracking numbers sent to the email addresses provided. All but two entrants provided physical addresses. In the cases where they did not provide a physical address the entrants had won PotCards. In those two cases the PotCards were scratched off and a picture of them sent to the prize winner via email. If you have not received your prize or any tracking information in email it's possible that your email address was incorrect. You are welcome to contact me any time via email and ask. I do not use Bitcointalk very often and it's best to contact me directly. My contact information is public and can be found on www.potcoin.com/bio - Russ Thomas (NIL)

Presenting the Potcoin gift card!
http://www.potcoin.com/presenting-potcard/

Impressive! Imagine getting one of these cards with your pot purchase at dispensaries. This would encourage future usage.

Starting next Wednesday Potcoin will be accepted by 5 Denver area pot dispensaries.  This is going to be revolutionary for the pot financial industry.  MINE BABY MINE

Is the 5 Denver area pot dispensaries confirmed? Source of info?

Sorry Guys, I cannot confirm this. However, I would like to invite you over to our new official forum, PotCoin Joint, available from the main menu on www.potcoin.com

Don't get me wrong, I love Bitcointalk, but it's hard to communicate in 12 places at once (don't go technical on this one guys... just go with me here). From now on we will be using the official company blog and The PotCoin Joint for official postings, (with re-posts/feeds to Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.).

I have a post that should clear this up. I also plan on a more continual feed of news regarding the progress and accomplishments of PotCoin as we grow.

, excluding marijuana,

What?  I thought potcoin was supposed to be the solution for dispensaries banking problems.

Are you saying potcoin isn't the solution to the banking problem?

Why is the dispensary not accepting potcoin for weed?

Is it because you might be found guilty of money laundering?

Two more entries into the "marijuana banking" biz:

http://www.marketwatch.com/story/gold-coast-announces-merchant-bank-services-to-the-marijuana-industry-with-the-launch-of-mj-merchant-2014-05-22?reflink=MW_news_stmp

http://www.knpr.org/son/archive/detail2.cfm?SegmentID=11210

It's the choice of the dispensary whether or not to accept cryptocurrency for legalized marijuana, and since both are very new they have decided to spend more time evaluating the option. We are working closely with the industry to ensure complete compliance with the laws now and in the future. Again, please have patience. We are working within two relatively new industries where laws and regulations are adapting and evolving and a cautious approach is necessary both for PotCoin and the companies we serve.

Loyal PotCoin Supporters,

What you experienced in the price of the coin recently will not abate for long. The coin, the company, and the growth of the cannabis market is here to stay.

Today, RiverRock Wellness begins accepting PotCoin for product purchases, excluding marijuana, including a 10% discount for a limited time. After an initial trial run we expect RiverRock to start accepting PotCoin for all purchases in the near future. Please visit the stores, try out our ATM’s and make purchases using PotCoin.

Thank you for your continued support! It is the miners, investors, and supporters of legalized cannabis for recreational and medical use that have helped us to get this far and we have no plans to slow down.

Sincerely,

Thank you all for being patient with us as we evolve to the rapid demand for PotCoin. We have several updates coming out today and I wanted to take a moment to address the community in regards to our recent developments.

1. New wallet code has been developed
2. ATM's will be deployed soon but we want to ensure a positive user and merchant experience rather than rush the delivery.
3. Our media kit is being finalized and should be available by the end of the week.
4. We have launched our new blog as of last night and will be moving towards centralized media distribution
5. We are growing as a company by adding new employees and securing additional financing
6. Our Authorized PotCoin Merchant program will leave you saying "why would I NOT use PotCoin?"

We are moving at a pace that is unprecedented and I am very pleased with the progress we are making as a company. Here is a preview of the upcoming media kit:

A few points:

So you didn't have a media kit yet?  So essentially, up until this point you went to vendors looking like yet another stoner, saying "hey dude, Potcoin is cool"?  Wouldn't a media kit be a good idea to have had when you were at the 420 event... where there are TONS of vendors you could have left professional info with?  Again, where is the professionalism and proper business planning?

You're looking for additional funding for new employees?  For what?  The SLOW growth of this coin doesn't seem to warrant the need for additional employees.  If the funding is to buy company shirts, business cards, promotional media, etc... I'd say go for it.  Make it a more professional company before you start to add more people to the team.

The pace isn't "unprecedented".  NLG has gotten 4 food merchants and numerous web services to accept the coin in the last month, and they have an android wallet.  DOGE was an instant success, and is 3rd in vendor utilization in terms of crypto.  What exactly is unprecedented?  I'm sure I could name plenty of other coins that did more than POT did in a shorter time.

It's always a lot of hyped up talk about POT, but not a lot of action.  Stop bringing the news of "we're going to do this and that", and start posting the news of "we did this and that"

-Fuse

Fuse,

That's perfectly fair and you have very valid points. It is for those very reasons you are witnessing a positive transformation of PotCoin. The recent pace is unprecedented as it relates to PotCoin and the company behind it. Sorry for the lack of context in regards to that statement. I can assure you that we are transforming in a very positive direction and it is in large due to the insight of people like you. We really do appreciate all commentary, even negative, as it helps us to develop in a direction commensurate with the desires of the community that supports us.

 - Russ.T

Perfect response.

Russ, I welcome your feedback to my post, and I like the fact that you are at least directly addressing my concerns.  My previous post of concerns went completely ignored by @Potcoin.  Thank you.

If the direction of Potcoin is one of a more professional endeavor, than I'm behind it.  While I still don't agree with the halving that is obviously going to happen, I still want to see this coin succeed.

A professional approach is what's needed for adoption.  There's been a ton of talk about "the business" of Potcoin, but recent events made it feel like it's been a couple stoners trying to build a time machine.  They've got a great idea, and the drive to do it, but not the skills to get it done.  If legitimate businesses are going to accept POT, a legitimate and professional approach is needed.

Order some polo/dress shirts with the POT logo, make up some business cards and media kits, and canvas like a professional business.

-Fuse

Thanks Fuse. I am so confident in this coin, this team, and this company that I am transitioning from a profitable 21 year career in Information Security to work with PotCoin. While I cannot yet update my LinkedIn profile due to wrapping up my prior career, I do welcome anyone to get to know me and contact me any time (email please, phone is already crazy). Connect with me, email me, and expect to see much more from me in the future.

PotCoin, is there a business plan brochure / overview / "point of sale" package, which you have put together? I presume you'd have this since it's part of your job, and you kindof need them if you're trying to get accepted in stores.

If you could provide it to the community, it would probably help spread the word and educate storefronts.

I'm sure I don't have to explain to you what this is, and you already have them ready.

Update on river rock

Our Colorado Ambassador Russel thomas is going to be meeting john the ceo on tuesday at the dispensary to discuss where the ATM will go and how we will secure it - we will also be placing our big pop potcoin banners next to the atm.

We hope to have the first ATM at the main river rock location by the end of next week, we will should no tho by Wednesday.

We are very excited about this and we will be doing A formal press release in conjunction with river rock medical and combine forces to do a good social media push together.

We have been also getting lots of people filling out of merchant on the website and we look forward to getting them accepting potcoins and getting them listed on smokepotcoins and potcoinme

So what happened with the meeting this week with River Rock.  Russell Thomas the Denver Ambassador has he even been it talks with them this week?  Are there more delays due to the attacks?  It's seems like this thing with River Rock will never happen.

The PotCoin ATM's are scheduled to be delivered to both Riverrock locations Tuesday, May 20th, and available to the public on Wednesday. We appreciate your patience as we continue to work on ways to simplify transactions and provide a positive experience using cryptocurrencies for the consumer and the merchant. This will be the first deployment of ATM's and we are very excited to introduce PotCoin to the Colorado market. This is the first of many advancements planned for PotCoin as we aim to help the industry by providing alternate means of monetary exchange in lieu of traditional banking and in support of legalized cannabis for medical and recreational use.
