Re: Tinkercoin: Buy $20 worth of Bitcoin with a credit card
by

on 04/03/2014, 22:24:30 UTC
Tinkercoin.com is launching Bitcoin sales for credit card today.

Tinkercoin allows anyone to buy $20 worth of Bitcoin, for $25

....

but what is it? How does it work? Can you tell us something more about this service?

The service is targeting newcomers to Bitcoin primarily, in order to help them get their first Bitcoins.

Beyond that I can't really speak to the internal workings of the system.

Coin Forest - Weekly discounted deals only available with Bitcoin
by

This is a permanent thread to watch for updates on new deals.

Ending Today 25% off everything at BitDazzle.

BitDazzle is a marketplace, something like Etsy, allowing different vendors to post their products.

The most popular items so far have been from the Apple Mountain store, selling lots of fun diy electronics kits.

ie. A binary clock:

A digital dice:

A pocket electronic circuit development kit:

All of those links will automatically apply the 25% discount in your browser, but the deal ends today, so don't wait.

Coin Forest has teamed up with BitDazzle to do a Valentine's Day promotion.

Everything in the store is 25% off for Bitcoin purchases, with no minimum or maximum purchase.

This discount is applied on top of already existing Bitcoin deals.

For example, you can save $160 (37%) on the Canon EOS Rebel T3 Camera Kit. Also great for a big selection of gifts perfect for Valentine's day

Deal lasts until Friday.

Just visit bitdazzle.com/coinforest, and you'll see the discount applied to the store header.

Would this charity be eligible?

My friend works there, and recent reports indicate the Canadian gov't is spying on them.

I keep on trying to place to orders, but it always redirects me back to the page
http://coinforest.com/bees-brothers
Any idea what's wrong???

I sent nildram an email letting him know of the bug.

I used to work there... Didn't think they existed anymore after being rebranded by TalkTalk (I left not long after the Tiscali take over, because lets face it... who wants Tiscali on their CV?)

I think the sale is over now though I can't speak for them if they will extend it due to the errors.

Was it only monbux? I did try to contact them. If anyone wants to get in on this still, email me at john@coinforest.com by end of Monday, October 28th.

I'm back.

1. I think a good working title would be: "Operation donate so goddamn much that they cave and begin accepting bitcoin". That may or may not be used publicly depending on the charity.

2. I'm pretty set on doing this for a charity that has some amount of name recognition. Bitcoin users will see the benefit of getting wikipedia to accept bitcoin donations as much more significant than that of getting the Crohn's and Collitis foundation. Go big or go home, ya know?

Are there any fence sitting charities that you know of, who might be into this?

Thank Rassah for posting this where it belongs.

I'm glad to see a positive reaction.

The structure that Phinnaeus Gage laid out is pretty well exactly what I had envisioned.

I think approaching Wikipedia with this would be worthwhile.  A seemingly impossible goal like that would really draw attention.

I could say much more, but it's Canadian Thanksgiving, so I'm being neglectful right now.

Cheers,
Nildram

Re: Study: Everyone hates environmentalists and feminists
by
nildram
on 30/09/2013, 23:03:57 UTC
Remember, there are very powerful forces at work out there to make environmental activists look like loonies and eccentrics in order to discredit them.  It doesn't surprise me that the mainstream look down on them having been appeased into non-action by propaganda.  If you go to such an event you'll probably be impressed and forever changed by how well educated and informed the activists are, and by how the media have falsely portrayed them.

Really good point.

There's an irony here. The people who seem to be very proud of their critical thinking, and not being brainwashed, are also quite happy to pile on to a study that shows that "the majority agree with them".

Any idea how to print a shipping label from outside the US?
by
nildram
on 30/09/2013, 19:27:48 UTC
I'd like to have a US based reseller ship some USB Block erupters to a friend's US address.

Neither USPS, nor Stamps.com will accept a non-US credit card.  Any alternatives for printing a USPS shipping label.

This conundrum seems quite ironic to me.

I care deeply about healthy ecosystems, and treating women with respect.

Unfortunately, I have shied away from self-labeling myself as a feminist and environmentalist because assuming those labels actually reduces ones ability to influence anyone, as this study clearly displays.
