I'm not understanding what you mean when you say price per slot?

Sorry for the late reply, price per PCIE slot on the motherboard, or how much does it cost per graphics card on the system. If you have a $100 setup that holds two cards, then that's $50/slot, but if you can get a $100 setup that holds 4, then you will be at $25/slot.

Every time you have to buy another motherboard to run more cards, you also have to buy another CPU, RAM, and at least 1 PSU.

How much system RAM do you have? Also, which mobo are you running?

Johnny,

There's a few things to focus on. Motherboard, cpu, and ram together, and its price per PCIE slot, psu price per watt (750w's are usually lowest here aside from getting a 220v server psu but those can have more headaches to get running), price per riser card. and finally price per card.

I'm running an asrock fatality mobo with 7 slots (not fully populated), my price per slot is $32 + risers.

Best card for ROI, 270, or newegg special on one of the 7870's. Build the rig on a boltless shelving unit with 12" deep shelves and use aluminum angle to hold the cards.

I'm having a hell of a time trying to get the BAMT 1.2 eth0 drivers updated for the Z87 intel chipset... Tried for an hour and couldn't get it to work..

I too am going to try and run 7 R9 290's on an asrock z87 fatality board. Have you thought about windows idling the GPU's because they aren't hooked to a monitor?

I'm thinking BAMT is going to be the only way to do it. If only I could get the ethernet drivers installed....

Hello world...

So I'm looking to switch over to BAMT v1.2 but my motherboard has the z87 chipset and drivers are not already installed in this distro. Following this guide:

http://rumorscity.com/2013/12/14/bamt-why-gigabyte-intel-z87-chipset-could-not-connect-to-the-internet/

I do everything and get right down to where it has me run 'modprobe e1000e' well when I do it says command not found, so I input 'sudo modprobe e1000e' and it didn't do anything... internet still doesn't work. Cant ping anything.

Any thoughts?
