The anxpro.com API is compatible with the mtgox api - I moved my bot over just by changing the URL.

In case any other devs are interested.

I don't think 2fa is enough to protect you from a mitm attack as they can accept your otp and replay it through to the real site.

Further more they could prompt you again pretending a timeout and use the second otp entry to execute a withdrawal.
only real protection is 2fa with a cpu to sign the actual activity with a private key.

cheers

Re: Bitcoin the enabler - Truly Autonomous Software Agents roaming the net

this idea has been gnawing away at my conscious for some time now. if I end up with some spare cycles I'll work on it.

proof of work may literally be the execution of a block of code instructions and some input,  to produce some output.

consensus is simple - other nodes completing exactly the same with a hash of input code block and output.

the first node to execute receives the reward.  alternatively output pipes are designed to accept output idea potently,  and multiple  nodes can receive the reward on a sliding scale.

what's needed is a tor vm.

the private keys and in fact entire code base of the bots would be redundantly distributed across tor vm nodes.

I'd design and write such a think if I had the funding.

Most likely as an altcoin - put some of those miner cpu cycles to use running tor vm instructions.

I didn't realise kyc was an option -  I've been patiently waiting the thirty days to get my coins out.

I hope they don't confiscate the funds at the end of the hold!

Has anyone just waited out the hold? I need to know whether to bother with the ID thing.

thanks

I'm with you.

I cancelled my withdrawal worth a support ticket.

only took 10 minutes to their credit.

I then bought coins and got them out immediately.

13 percent loss is far preferable to the counterparty risk  in my case.  others may have a different risk appetite.

it must be soul destroying for the gox team to watch their business disintegrate. if your business is coin and fiat exchange and you can't settle fiat..  you don't have a business.

Firstly: I couldn't see the right place to post this, so apols in advance to the mods if this isn't most appropriate board.

Hi, I'm a long term Linux and Java engineer with a background in front to back institutional markets platforms. I'm looking for a Bitcoin related role in a hedge fund/ broker/ start-up.

Background
------------
By day I design and implement capital markets platforms for one of the top 5 IB -
-Algo trading, hedging, and execution platforms
-Flow, derivative, and margin trading platforms
-Liquidity aggregation and best execution
-Pricing
-Trade lifecycle management
-P&L attribution
-Counterparty risk and market risk (VAR and PFE)

My hobby and passion for the last six months however, has been producing software for Bitcoin payments, trading, and matching engines. I can provide live examples as part of an interview process. I've always been an open source advocate, and started doing business with Linux in the mid nineties.

I'm at the stage in life where I want my day job and my passion to be one and the same - hence this post.

History
-------
In the nineties I worked heavily in the telco industry, doing eCommerce development, *nix, networks, RFC implementations, security,  and a wide variety of development and systems administration.

In the first decade of this century I developed financial markets risk, trading, and eCommerce platforms.

This  decade I hope to grow crypto currency organisations as our world goes through a fundamental shift away from sovereign led monetary policy to social/ peer to peer systems of exchange.

In the past I've successfully founded and established a product company, and a services company.

Value Proposition
------------------
I typically help form product concepts and strategic relationships, write the product and requirement specs myself, and mobilise and lead the product development and implementation.

I'm best suited for a startup that needs a CTO to take care of the technology aspects of the business - or an existing broker/ or hedge fund that would like to establish a strategic Bitcoin capability.

Education
----------
Comp Sci and Financial Markets degree qualified

Technical Skillsets
------------------
Core competency is java, linux, sql engineering, but also a varied level of skills in:
-Most scripting languages
-Networks and security
-CEP
-Nosql and Hadoop
-Automated unit, load, and functional testing
-All relevant skills and capabilities as would be expected after 20 years in both open source and financial markets software engineering (i.e. FIX etc)
-Modern web client architectures - "HTML5" (what a silly buzzword that term is - worse even than web2.0)

Contact
--------
If anyone wishes to contact me, please do reach out with a PM. After a short phone call I'll be willing to exchanged linkedin profiles and any further details.

Personal Details
----------------
Native English speaker, currently located in APAC, face to face or remote working opportunities ok

To All
------
I'm really not sure how to meet the right companies - so I would greatly appreciate you sending my details to friends you think would be interested - and also pointers back on this thread to forums/ contacts/ meetups that you think I should consider in my search. I'll provide a 15 x BTC bounty for anyone that introduces me to a new contact that leads to me taking employment or a JV.

TIA

hmm many thanks good to know.

no more business with gox.  they must be having problems with their jap bank and/ or liquidity as contrary to some naive comments on here there is absolutely no need for a us bank account to send wires in usd.

I think that's the point.  there is no problem moving coins in and out.  but getting usd fiat out seems to be a nightmare.

I have several thousand usd that's been sitting in the queue for two weeks now.

should I sit and wait,  cancel it and send coins out,  or change to another currency?

some Ppl have murmured that non usd is faster but I haven't talked to anyone with concrete experience in recent weeks..  any thoughts?

thanks

not for long though..  anyone have a chat of market share over time?

fast settlements and low counterparty risk is the name of the game with exchanges..  gox is down and out, unless a credible fi buys them.

Agreed regarding sourcing market data from functional  markets.

I've been wondering where the semi professionals have been hedging their underlying..  no single exchange has enough liquidity.

I put in  an fx cfd platform once and you really need decent liquidity providers..

did anyone else notice blockchaininfo seems to have dropped gox from its ticket numbers? previously it seemed to be heavily volume weighted by gox numbers,  but recently it seems to have dropped the gox numbers?
