Re: why bitcoin is banned by the government
by
nomad1109
on 26/01/2018, 14:02:54 UTC
It's not banned just because of tax evasion and such. Governments are not inherently bad, and the system is not just out to fuck the little people. If a real economic bubble occurs, the governments want to let it down as soft as possible. Crypto is a bubble, and many coins will crash and burn due to the lack of regulation there is now. This will cause many people to lose their homes, life savings and might even cause suicides. Some people will get rich, yes, but that redistribution of wealth is not good for the society. A good government should therefore try to manage the investments a bit, so that the bubble can not grow forever.

Re: About currency risk

Great thread of people just saying there is risk in everything. Amazing insight, people. Let's all just keep repeating it until our post counts are in the millions. Perfect.

While it is not wrong that there is risk in everything, the risks should be calculated and kept to a minimum. By saying "everything is risky" you're kinda missing the point, which is to control the risks that need to be controlled. There are many types of insurance to do this, there are currency options, swaps, futures and whatever. A million ways to secure yourself. What does this coin bring to the table? They simply say "why not let experts do it". That's fine, experts are good. Why do they need their own coin and ICO for that?

I agree on onion. Sure, they've had a huge growth, but there's still an enourmous potential. When they go on Binance (which is soon) you can expect even more gains. I'm buying all I can.

I've made a lot by joining airdrops, but it was really a gold rush of them a few months ago. Now I try to do bounties. Twitter bounties can be pretty good, as you can join several. I try to choose signature bounty with care.

Re: Investing in Alts when BTC begins to rise again soon
by

People relocate their investments from BTC to alts all the time. When they see Btc going up they want to join in, but it's not always fast enough to invest with more cash. So investing from alts are easier and quicker. When they want to secure some profits alts are a nice place to put them.

Definitely joining this airdrop. Seems like a good project. How will you differentiate yourself from other gambling coins?

I believe in the original Bitcoin, simply because it's the biggest brand in crypto. Bitcoin Gold is not, and I've sold mine.

Please vote the right one to help beginners.

I like to have a portfolio of about 40% BTC, 30% ETH and 30% altcoins.

None of your options are any good. If your name is Aurora Baltika, I'd simply go with ABCoin.

Re: Do you feel ICOs try to raise too much?
by

Some of them are just trying to grab as much as they can, yeah. Other actually have plans for all the money, and different scenarios for different sums raised. However, if you are trying to raise 100M USD, you better have one hell of a campaign going.

So many coins are just ponzi schemes now. It can actually be argued that the whole crypto economy is a ponzi bubble, waiting to burst. I guess time will tell if they're right or not.

In my opinion ICOs are too unregulated right now. They can say what they want and no one really holds them accountable.

I'm with the ETH people. The fees are better, the devs are better and it's less volatile.

I think Ethereum is a legit bet, and I hold a few myself. Bitcoin is nice as a "gold standard", but it isn't technologically advanced enough to be useful any more.

The DeepOnion bounty (it's not really an airdrop) was really nice until they changed the rules. Now I'm not too keen.

Re: Etherscan Vs Ethplorer
by

Well ethplorer prices my 5M eDoge with above 49k dollars. That's about 99,99% wrong, as it nearly has no value at all. So there's a bug in there somewhere. Etherscan doesn't give a price for it at all. It seems like Etherscan takes their prices straight off Etherdelta. I'm not sure what the fuck ethplorer does.

Re: Should ICOs be regulated as IPOs?
by
nomad1109
on 04/11/2017, 08:11:31 UTC
I think ICOs should absolutely be regulated. As it is now the small investors get screwed over a lot, and there's a lot of uncertainty with investing in an ICO. The creators of the ICO have to rules to play by, and they can just take the money and quit if they'd like.

Getting tired of all these random airdrops now. At least put some work into it if you're gonna do this!
