Because more people have started to mine them or the value of the coin has gone down. It's not rocket science.

Avalon 741 losing hash rate?
by

Hi,

I have four Avalon 741's and whenever I mine something other than BTC/BCH they basically just mine at 2/3 their speed.

I'm going to assume that it might be because of rejected shares (I get lots when I don't mine BTC/BCH) but if that's the case, is there something I can do to remedy that?

I've already tried to increase the difficulty, in case that was the issue, but it didn't help.

Any ideas? Do you need any info from me?

Thanks!

Are you doing the "paper clip" method to start the PSU? There should be a plastic bit included with the PSU you bought, put it on the 24-pin cable.

They are not in stock. Take another look on their website and the product description.

Batch 1 will ship in March 2018. Batch 2 will ship after Batch 1.

You need to change the IP on your PC to 192.168.0.10. Do that and you will be able to access the Avalon on IP 192.168.0.100.

Use the built-in wifi on the Raspberry Pi, leave your laptop out of this.

Avalon 741 suddenly isn't seen by controller
by

Hi,

A friend of mine just bought two Avalon 741's along with a Raspberry Pi and PSU. They were bought from an official redistributor.

They're connected in a small "chain", as in Controller > AUC3 > Miner > Miner. They've been working for two days but today I rebooted them remotely. The miners never came back on.

The controller can't find any devices. The controller itself seems to work just fine though, settings are saved etc. It just can't find any of the miners connected.

This is what we've tried:
Cutting and restoring power to the PSU's and controller.
Changing all the cables.
Changing PSU.
Changing AUC3.
Connecting only one miner (tried both on their own).
Flashing new firmware (not Controller firmware because he doesn't have a card reader).
Restoring settings from my backup.

Light on AUC3 is green and blue, and light on both miners are green. We live in Sweden so we're using 220V.

Any ideas are appreciated! Thank you!

Edit: The CGminer API log says this:
Code:
[Firmware Version] => Avalon Firmware - 20170603
luci: ffc1d59
cgminer: 2354004
cgminer-packages: d309c69
Socket connect failed => Connection refused

I really liked that you had a limit of two per customer. That way I was actually able to get a hold of two. If you hadn't, they would all be sold out and the majority would go to big spenders.

How will the next batch of A7's be? Will you have another limit per customer?

How's everything looking? I haven't received a tracking number yet and the order is marked as "completed". Same thing with my friend's order.

I do not understand what you say. Can you say more in detail?
It means that just because Yobit was paid to list POLY, doesn't mean that they will do it.

We were a couple of people pitching in to list XCN on Yobit. They haven't listed XCN and it's been quite a while since we paid. More than a month at the very least.

They will never list XCN even though we paid them. So don't get your hopes up for a quick listing on Yobit.

The set that's available on the site says that it includes everything to start mining. But it doesn't say that it includes a power supply for the controller. Is it included or do I have to purchase that separately?

I can add 2 Avalon 741 to my cart but no more. Do you have two in stock? Do you have more? Will you get more? Or do you not have them in stock and the website just isn't updated? Thanks

It is limited for a reason.

See this post in the first page of this thread:
Sale will start on 2th of december at 12AM UTC+1. Miners and Sets are limited to 2 pieces per customer. We have way to many requests from people who want to order large quantities and we want to give everyone the chance to get a miner. If you want to order more than 2 pieces, please contact us and ask for a bulk offer.

Ah, thank you! I was afraid that it simply were because their website hadn't updated. This is better.

Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order

I was going to order three S9's but it's very late in their life span now. That, and all these coupons coming up for sale (might have been available for long, I haven't searched previously) makes me wonder if it's really a good idea to purchase them now?

Question is how long it'll be until Bitmain comes up with something new, making the S9's I'd purchase obsolete.

I've seen people mention that it's possible to use one coupon per item. Is that really possible, or do they really mean one coupon per order?

If they can be used per item, can they only be used on ASIC's or on PSU's as well?

Thanks!

No, it's usually better to use two sticks instead of one in order to take advantage of dual channel.

Re: Mining litecoin with usb miners
by

Everyone is completely missing the point.

The Gekkoscience Compac and 2Pac are strictly SHA256 miners. It isn’t possible to mine Litecoin, which is a scrypt currency, with the sticks.

One Scrypt USB miner is the Futurebit Moonlander 2, which has sold out but would be what you would want to look at if you want a Scrypt stick. Keep in mind these are mainly lottery mining units or collectibles and you won’t be making hundreds from them.

Oh.. so what can you mine except bitcoin i don't have the kind of money to mine bitcoin or uprade my current hardware
You won't earn anything with a USB miner. Only buy one if you feel comfortable with throwing your money away on lottery tickets.

Re: Antminer vs GPU!!!
by
nu1mlock
on 01/12/2017, 15:23:30 UTC
GPUs can be considered as active capital. You always can sell every part of your rig or use it as powerful PC. Outdated Antminer is just a piece of metal and chips.
Yes, but an Antminer S9 is vastly more profitable than any reasonable GPU rig. You're likely to earn about the same from an Antminer S9 right now as you are with a GPU rig with 6x 1080 Ti's. That GPU rig would be a lot more expensive though.

So yes, while GPU's have better second hand value, an S9 is way more profitable.

Quick rough estimate from Swedish current prices of GTX 1080 Ti vs Antminer S9:

6x GTX 1080 Ti (Swedish market, cheaper in other countries with less taxes etc): $5226
3x Antminer S9 from Bitmain: $4245

6x GTX 1080 Ti mining BTX per day: $28 give or take some depending on card, miner and OC.
3x Antminer S9 mining BCH: $83

Since it's not possible to calculate proper price in the future, let's just play with the thought that the difficulty and price will stay the same. So in 6 months, those six GPU's will have earned you $5190 while three Antminers will have earned you $14982. That's quite a big difference. Granted, you'll earn less depending on your electricity cost.

Cost of GPU's are just quick prices in Sweden. They'll be cheaper in other countries. Then again, I didn't include any other components needed, like CPU, RAM, PSU, etc. Same goes for Antminer, the PSU is not included. But who knows, anything can happen in the future.
