Re: [AUCTION] 2013 Casascius 0.1 BTC silver, loaded

General question to everyone: Is it ok to retract a bid in here? FFrankie made a bid of 0.27 that he deleted: https://imgur.com/a/VhD3i3m

Not sure what recourse you could avail of, other than disregarding future bids from that user. Congrats on the sale, very few people ever find themselves in a situation where they have to put a $13,000 item in the mail. Savour the feeling and package the item discreetly  Grin

I would personally peel or keep it tbh… although 0.1 is probably also the only denom I would feel safe mailing anymore at current exchange rates.

I am less worried about my trust ratings since WoodCollector and his sock army flooded me with negative trust  Grin

IMO auctions with high starting bids are risky because they can damage the value of the coins on the resale market if no bids are received. Low starting bid leads to true price discovery. Just IMO  Cool

All these years and people still doing “x face value” valuations, smh

lol what? Please tell us what we are doing wrong all mighty one! People asked what they are currently selling for..so we told them.  What a weird statement to make.

Sorry, my initial response was rude. The topic of valuations has come up many times over the years and this forum is the only place on earth where coin collectors discuss value in terms of multiples of face value. It’s weird and it never made sense. Do it if you like but… it doesn’t make sense!

IMO with fingerprints on it, the auction would be better off starting at 0.1 BTC, but I’ll be watching with interest to see how this goes regardless

Bump. Lot #2 available. Couple of lowball offers came in a while back so I’m giving this a boost.

You can now be the owner of one of these masterpieces as a redeemable NFT! (Includes shipping to U.S. destination as part of the NFT). High quality cleaned up scan of original numbered and signed print as NFT and you can get the original shipped (already included in NFT price). With Nubbins blessing and 10% of sale price going to Nubbins as royalty for the artwork!

https://opensea.io/assets/0x495f947276749ce646f68ac8c248420045cb7b5e/76858882631766028172085699647956488093948900202958243934151112438135761403905

Do we get an NFT sent to us with the # print of the poster we already own if we own one of these and can prove it? I’ve been a fan of this poster and love the idea of it paying dividends in the form of an NFT for owners after all of these years. Nice work either way. Good idea.

Some background: neuromancer purchased the print that’s being NFT’d some time ago, and he created the digital file that accompanies it — a hi-res scan of his specific print. As each print was done by hand, each one is actually slightly different — the most noticeable area is in the gradient sky background. If you want to NFT your personal prints from this series in the same manner, a 10% cut of the sale will endow you with my blessing on the endeavor. You’d likely want to pay for a hi-res scan of your specific print, including the number and signature on the bottom, but any reasonably equipped print shop or college/university/museum should be able to assist with this.

[Hearing offers] Kialara set - first three editions

Looking to shake my three Kialara slabs.

Lot 1 Original 2014 Edition, S/N 882

Lot 2 2015 Labyrinth Silver Ball, S/N 187

Lot 3 2015 Labyrinth Ceramic Ball, S/N 711

I don’t see many of these early slabs being sold, so I’m floating them here to see if any offers come in.

Not in a mad rush to sell, but also not particularly attached to these pieces, so I might as well see if someone else will get more enjoyment out of their ownership than I have.

Accepting offers via DM or in this thread. Insight about recent sale prices is welcome as well as general chat about these early editions.

You would have to declare them as monetary instruments if you cross an international border with them. If you can’t sell p2p or with a lawyer’s assistance (don’t be dumb, consider absolute value of transaction and pay a minute fraction of that amount to protect yourself), don’t feel bad about peeling them. That’s what I did.

I’m not presently willing to part with my Artist’s Proofs but after searching my archives, it appears that I did also retain a Printer’s Proof (P.P.) of each edition.

Like an Artist’s Proof, which is intended to be a proof-quality print kept by the artist, a Printer’s Proof is a proof-quality print intended to be kept by the printer, as a record of the work produced. This is important in traditional printing, as prints are considered originals — there is no digital master file from which these posters can be reproduced, due to the ultimately analog process of selecting and mixing inks, modifying film positives, and printing by hand with a wooden and rubber squeegee.

My body is no longer able to withstand the wear and tear that an enormous project like this requires, so it is extremely unlikely that you will ever see a reprint of either of these series.

I am willing to entertain offers on one or both posters here or via DM; I will be contacting a few collectors directly to solicit offers. The 0.01 offered above will likely be the minimum for consideration.

The P.P. of the first edition actually contains secret text promising a btc prize; this text was commissioned by a private party for a select number of copies of the initial run of posters, and the prize is presently unredeemable.

Any questions, fire away.

Just wondering whether anyone else still has this amazing screenprint poster? It's been a few years granted. I found mine, still perfectly packaged. I did want the 2016 version but unfortunately didn't get the chance to get one.

I still have my personal copy (signed & numbered “AP” for artist’s proof), would have a hard time selling it as I generally keep all my APs. I also have one flat-packed poster that was sent overseas & returned to me because the recipient never picked it up at the post, not sure which edition it’s from as I have not opened it since its return.

If there’s any interest, feel free to shoot me an offer here or via DM

Re: [AUCTION] one 2011 fully loaded casascius "error" bitcoin
by

on 24/01/2021, 22:49:26 UTC
Thank you for the explanation but I'm actually a bit confused.  Ate you saying my 1 bitcoin is worth more than 1 btc because forks happened after? That sounds too good to be true lol.

See your address here? https://www.blockchain.com/search?search=1AEjKrYnKfgqHsHZEzt7zN5AxUhwv8iML9

See how there are 2 blockchains? You can see you have 1 Bitcoin Cash (BCH) on your coin as well. Which right now is  ~ $430 extra on top of the 1 BTC.

So, that's how I determine "peel value". I know there are a couple of other shit-fork coins on there as well, but I can't recall the names atm. Tongue

I think “Bitcoin sv” and “Bitcoin gold” might be the only other ones worth taking the time to redeem.

Assuming nubbins' account has not changed hands they will be Cas silvers and handled in the most delicate fashion throughout their lives.

Unfortunately I think my account is a little bit less valuable now with all my assorted WoodCollector-related neg ratings  Grin

Appreciate the info, might throw up an auction thread or might just keep the darn things.

Requesting links to recent auction/sale threads of peeled Casascius coins. Thinking about offering a couple but the forum search still sucks and I’m not up to date on the scene anymore   Grin
