I am also on truckcoin blockchain it looks like. I do wish you guys had done a simple 1-1 swap with coinswap, c-cex or bittrex.

I'm assuming this means a much lower coin count for all of you anyway, I personally hold a significant amount that it looks like won't be included.

If you bought your trk before fork, see OP, block height 31781 you do not need to worry.
Delete peer.dat and blockchain start again.
Make sure you use the right client, the one on OP should be ok.
Repeat until you are on the right chain, if wallet stalls, quit and re-start.

I'll just wait for a wallet that can differentiate itself from the truckcoin directories tbh it's just not at the minute but I haven't got time to fiddle with it any more.

So current bittrex truck coins are stuck there ? :/

Re: [ANN] Metadisk - Blockchain Based File Sharing - Powered by Storj
by
nuclearjoker
on 05/07/2014, 12:22:29 UTC
What is Metadisk?

Metadisk is the first storage focused blockchain-distributed web application, which means that there is no central authority or entity that controls your data. Metadisk runs on top of the Storj prototype platform, which allows users to sell their hard drive space for coins.

How does it work?

After the file is encrypted and uploaded, a SHA-256 hashing algorithm will be applied, which produces a hash of the file that serves both as a unique identifier and a way to detect file tampering. The generated hash will then be stored in a block chain entry. Metadisk communicates with the Storj network to find available storage resources, then transfers the encrypted file to three (3) separate locations. This 3-time storage complies with the cloud storage redundancy standard. Because all data that enters the network is encrypted, malicious nodes and thieves cannot open, copy or modify files, because they do not have access to the decryption keys for them.

The current functions and specifications that Metadisk offers are just a small prototype of Storj. Metadisk allows us to experiment with many methods and algorithms, while still providing user security, privacy, scalability, and cost savings over many current cloud storage systems.

Hi There !

Please include me in the beta. I have been interested in proof of storage for a long time now. Hell I can even code stuff if you like !

Build is underway and I will take a list of the most reasonable and common questions, to satisfy curiosity, and will issue a
FAQ Whitepaper soon.

In other news:

I now have a c++ dev on my team. We will be doing some very cool updates to the wallet, live market data being the first.

Hi Guys,

I have been looking at anonymous cryptocurrencies for a long time now, I am very worried if I look at that proposal, I have the following questions based on your diagram:

This just looks like a built in mixer service on those diagrams. Come to think of it, what makes this different what vertcoin is doing with stealth addresses ?

The creation of "fullfillment" nodes are causing the network to vulnerable to centralization and third party abuse such as DDoS. I don't feel centralization is the way to go, there are much better ways to ensure privacy of transactions. And yes, Darkcoin is doing it wrong too, too centralised. I mean - a single entity just needs to own a certain level of the masternodes - to seriously mess up the coin. Cloak/dark etc. are such a small entity - any government agency could buy up enough servers + coin (with their lunch money) and mess the network up (and yes spy).

Could you be more specific (systems diagram) of how having stealth address will anonymise or 'cloak' the coin more - please emphasise the cryptography used to ensure this.

Please be as technical as possible on how you want to achieve your objectives.

I was going to make rubycoin

Welcome to the team! Join us on IRC.

Cheers mate, will be looking forward to this coin. Has definitely caught my eye by the layouts and the amount of support from the dev team.

Something to watch out for.

me too -- liked it a lot!

One more pointer that might help building a REAL ECONOMY for this coin: approaching gem dealers and offering them a small bounty for accepting the coin in their shops (both online and off-)  and/or giving them some support installing a plugin (if they have a webshop) to accept RBY online; same at point of sale with a small RBY terminal. These are the major ingredients for sustained Crypto coin success, even more so than other marketing measures...

http://cryptojeweler.com aeems like a perfect fit. Anyone want to write a nice business letter ?

I've set up a DBL pool at pool.bredsaal.dk - 1% fee, proportional payout, vardiff, NO registration needed.

It's nothing fancy, but it works! :-)

I have mined a bit there, still awaiting payment. Please have a look, thanks.

I am testing trying out http://pool.rubycoin.org  a new rubycoin multipool out to support the rubycoin community and bring more value to rubycoin

Isn't it still relatively easy to mine rubycoin directly though? I didn't think the diff had gotten too prohibitively high just yet.

Currently it seems mining at pool.rubycoin.org rakes in about 4900 rubies / 1 MH / day. Where as mining directly rakes in 1430 rubies / 1 MH / day. This in my eyes seems to point that mojority of the miners on ruby actual baghold instead of looking at the current market price.

Hi There Catc Developers

I have a few ideas for the coin:

1. We should rather focus on getting on more services, especially something merchant orientated, if you could somehow build a way where at least 1 coffee shop accepts catc, it will actually become a currency. This type of PR is more im portant than switching the alogrithm at the moment.

2. Maybe we should allow a simple site to be created whereby the miners can vote for a todo list on what the developers have todo first, all the miners would have to do is set cleartext in the coinbase, something like TODOVOTE#1. This way we can "democratise" the development of the coin.

3. Make a list of site that contain info to CATC for instance: http://www.cryptocoinrank.com/Cataloniacoin

4. Also for those that are wondering, market cap on coinmarketcap doesn't include the other 7 mill premine to be airdropped.

Crossposting from reddit: http://www.reddit.com/r/Cataloniacoin/comments/23yw95/airdrop_by_birthplace_really/

I see a few obvious problems with this coin and particularly with its proposed airdrop.

I read you are planning to do the airdrop based on place of birth, which looks completely unacceptable when you consider the Catalan demographics: more than one third of its inhabitants are not Catalan-born https://ca.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demografia_de_Catalunya

Not surprisingly, the usual definition of Catalan used in politics and media often includes everyone who lives in Catalonia.

I see also a bit of irony in using the Spanish ID for what wants to be the Catalan cryptocoin. The Spanish ID is a valid tool, ok. But it is also a symbol, and when we are building a new country symbols do matter.

The good news is that there is a much better alternative: CatCert certificates, which have many advantages:

1) Most importantly: Available to all residents
2) Issued by the Catalan government; no need to use that silly card with the King's emblem in it (Spanish DNI )
3) Significantly more practical to use: CatCert certificates are USB based (most people do not have a smartcard reader and will not buy one for the airdrop)

In my opinion, point 3 could have a huge effect on the eventual success of the coin. If they are not widely enough distributed, people will never use CATcoins.

Disclosure: I was born in Barcelona, capital city of Catalonia

Hi to everyone!
We're studying the fact of implementing the X11 algo on CataloniaCoin because lots of people are asking for It.

As well, we have great news for you! next month, one of our dev-team members is going to make a conference in one city of Catalonia thanks to one Google Developers group.
http://www.enewspaper.mx/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/google-developers-academy-bloginginfo-com_1.png
We're working hard on this coin for the Catalan people future and we're going to spread the word of CATc among all the people who assist to the event!
We're going to post photos of everything next month!!

Less heat just means the gpu is more idle. But that just means the miner program will have to be adapted to eventually not being idle.

I am sorry but the arguement for heat and summer is bollocks. What about the 9 other months in europe that is a useful heat source?cam you moan aboit heat just crank the ovwr clocking lower, or go to a coin that uses pos.

In the end I am happy with any asic reaistant coin, but the algo imho doesn't matter as long as 1. Has no known colisions attacks 2. Is asic resistant .

What other benefits does x11 have over scrypt-n? I mean does it actually stay static algo and not a adaptive schedule? So asic can be built!

Gamers thay want to mine, just need to not overclock open their cases etc.

Darkcoin isn't getting traction because of x11 either it claims to do anonymous transactions.

Doubloons are actually heavily undervalued and under- rated. 8 million total, with only 1,4 million mined thusfar? Then with low block rewards, even people late to the game can mine some. And it already has an exchange, I always wondered wether the developer might popup after he holds alot of coins. And pumps the coin community wise  Tongue

Re: [ANN] AIRcoin - Professional Investment, No Fees, Rising Exchange Rate
by
nuclearjoker
on 17/03/2014, 15:36:51 UTC
We have a new release, as promised. AIRcoin: The First 24 Hours. This post outlines out approach, troubles, solutions, and plans for the future in the development of AIRcoin.

Read it on our Documents Page: http://teamaircoin.org/docs/
Direct Link PDF: AIRcoin: The First 24 Hours

It puts some hard data to the Investment Pool, and gives a simple, organized explanation of how it works, and explains why AIR is more profitable to mine than SPA, or any other scrypt coin listed on coinwarz right now, and through that, interestingly enough, it explains very well the exact discussion about mining difficulty that is going on in this thread. Soon following this, we will have a revised version of the whitepaper to spread as well, that will explain even more complex phenomena.

This release is also the start of an AIRcoin community project: Expand the Atmosphere. We are sponsoring media coverage, and while we pursue major locations, we want the users of AIRcoin to spread the word through every social network. Show them the documents,  ask them to read them and look at the website, if they understand our coin, they'll do what they want to. But we need the world to know about AIRcoin, now that we are operational. Rewards will be offered for exceptional results, to help support our community

This will involve an improvement to our Reddit, Forums, Website, and other presences online as well. We have contacted CoinMarketCap to get AIRcoin listed, as well as the following groups:

Cryptocoin News
Cryptocoin Updates
Crypto-Source
Altcoin Weekly
Coindesk
Altcoin Fever
Bitcoin Magazine
Altcointoday

We want you guys to be very vocal and direct with us in how we expand from here on. The best way to get people interested in AIRcoin? Ask them: "What do you think of this coin?" Get feedback, criticism, discuss it with them, and through expanding our userbase, hopefully we'll also learn something new.

Very interesting !

Have you considered - that you can rent MH/s for hours or days to help the coin - this could be another angle to use for the investment pool ?

there is going to be media hype too

Why don't the devs just say they took all of wolongs coins
we can say that

Hi

I just did the effort to logging to comment (I hate having to comment, prefer being a ninja Tongue ). I read your pastebin. And I can see how JacobUX (and some guy hmac) was actually pleeding for the guys there to NOT dump it - saying panda has so much potential.

I just thought I would point that out.

I for one think one needs to get tenfive as a corporate entity to accept a generic "coin" which can be interchanged for airtime. Now if 10-5 can do this - I will actually invest reserves in it.

Kind Regards

NJ
