For some reason their website is down for me. Is anyone experiencing trouble accessing their website.

I can't reach it, either.

So I suppose we have an answer to the OP's question.

Re: BITCOIN or ETHEREUM?
by

For my crypto, I maintain an allocation of 45% BTC, 35% ETH, and 20% alts.

Although I have some alts that I hold long-term, I trade most of this stack.

I periodically rebalance to maintain this allocation.

It's worked well!  Sold ETH to buy BTC a few weeks ago (at ETH/BTC=0.054), and bought some ETH back yesterday (at ETH/BTC = 0.0295).

Re: What are the biggest changes in your life caused by Bitcoin?
by

I knew about bitcoin, but had never invested in it until 2015.

My marriage was falling apart.  My wife and I were legally separated, and I knew that divorce was inevitable.

I started salting away a little out of each paycheck into BTC, and later, into ETH also.

Needless to say, those little investments have paid off in a big way.  I have more money in crypto than I have in my stock trading account, which (outside of retirement accounts) is the bulk of my life savings.
I am much better off financially than before the divorce.

Bitcoin has been life-changing in a very positive way.

I want to buy some coins. Now the Btc price is around 10000$.best thing is buy btc or ethereum now

I suggest buying both.  BTC is at ATH right now, while ETH is about 20% off its recent ATH (set just a few weeks ago).
You might consider putting 50% into BTC, and 50% into ETH, and periodically rebalance.

What would you guys advise someone who is retired, living off pension and savings? Is it too late/risky to invest at that kind of age?
Do you guys think the elderly have a chance of jumping on the crypto train, or do you guys think it's too late for them to invest?

If your financial situation is secure, i.e. you withdraw less than 4% of your assets annually to pay for living expenses, it may be worth investing 2-4% of your investment capital.

This would put you well ahead of most investors in allocation to cryptocurrency.

It will be impossible to run one profitably.

Mining Data Center that Allows Remote Access
by
oblomov
on 15/11/2017, 16:03:16 UTC
I am in the process of setting up a modest mining operation.

I would like to find a US-based data center that will maintain the miners, connections, etc.

However, I would like to have remote access to the machines and be able to direct whether they mine with a pool, mine solo, or sell hashpower through a broker such as Nicehash.

I may also mine some alts but that is a topic for another section of the forum.

Any suggestions for mining focused data centers that meet these criteria?

Re: Why i think the CME listing Bitcoin Futures is actually a bad thing!
by

on 05/11/2017, 13:32:43 UTC
I have mixed feelings about the CME futures listing.

I will definitely trade the futures now that I am being kicked off of BFX due to being a US person.  I don't trust Polo.

The futures will reduce volatility.  Whether this is a good thing or not depends on your perspective.  The reduced vol will make BTC more attractive to mainstream investors.

A slew of new financial products will become available that are based on BTC.  After futures have been trading for a while, options on futures will become available.  This will enable strategies that have been difficult to execute to this point.

It will provide an easier route for Wall Street and governments to manipulate price.  Why hasn't gold skyrocketed even as the us debt tops $20T (but bitcoin has)?  As they say, there's a "robust" market in gold (translation: the price behaves the way that the elites want it to).

Re: Will Bitcoin be replaced by another cryptocurrency?

My mainstream investor friends do not own any crypto, and they repeatedly gloated to me with something like, "wait until the US government releases FedCoin!"

Well, we already have FedCoin.  It's lost 99.5% of its purchasing power since 1913.

Also, I tell them that their envy and regret at missing out on the rally is not an attractive character trait, and it only weakens their ability to identify attractive investments.

My plan is to keep holding and accumulating.

I do not plan to sell any, but of course this could change in case of an emergency.

The rise of BTC and ETH has been a boon to my finances.  It could not have come at a better time.  I finalized a divorce and lost a executive-level job in the last year.

I am very positive on Rialto.AI

I did DD on all of the team members, and everyone checked out.

I believe that the returns will be substantial and the token will be much more valuable by the end of this year.

Who got in? Also, do you think it is a scam or not?
Curious as I put in a good chunk of change in it and seems weird that they don't have an ANN here nor do they have a slack channel.

I invested as well.

They said in their latest communication that they will be setting up an ANN here, and a Slack channel.

Looking forward to getting the tokens on Friday.

I would like to find a full time job that pays bitcoins. It would have to be something online though, and most online jobs are notorious for being scams.

If you work for Coinbase, you have the option of being paid in bitcoin.

Re: BTC price break 1459 USD, is it too late to invest in Bitcoin?

BTC price hits an eight-year high,http://news.8btc.com/bitcoin-price-breaks-1459-usd-is-it-too-late-to-buy-bitcoin-now
Some girls at office are wondering if they should invest in bitcoin right now. Some even want to borrow money to buy bitcoins, i don't know what to say coz i think they don't get the real significance of btc. but it is full of uncertainties in the world of bitcoin. girls could be dreamy, buy what if it is really a great chance. Anyway,i can only tell them big fishes eat smaller ones, so be careful.

No, I thought I was overpaying at $300/BTC.

We are just beginning to see the acceleration of adoption by the professional investment community.

It great in the sense that it is allowing more people world wide to get on board, and in the long term interest of bitcoin that is a good thing.  The only ones who hate crashes are day traders, and th eguy who lost his short the other day waiting for this.  lol  Shocked

So sitback ya'll and enjoy the ride this year.

I agree.  I will use the pullback to add to my positions, in BTC and a few other cryptos.

What we are seeing is typical market behavior.  I do not regard it as a "crash".

I'm scared because price Bitcoin down, I do not know what to do with Bitcoin at this time Cry

Buy a little more.

I am pleased that it pulled back.  It will let me continue building my position below $1000.

I expect the price to chop around for several weeks.  This is normal behavior for a financial asset.

I expect it to be significantly higher in 2-3 years.

Re: Bitcoin's Next Direction 2017 Predictions
by
oblomov
on 05/01/2017, 20:26:13 UTC
Hello,

After successfully predicting BTC moves in 2016 here on the forum, I have a new set of 2017 predictions that I'm using to trade the current move.

1. Rise to $1,200-$1,300 (Current move)
2. Correction to $800-$900 level and range trading for a while
3. Rise to $1,500
4. Correction to $900-$1,000 and range trading for a while
5. Continued rise to $2,000 by end of year

tldr; BTC will double this year after making a couple of moves up and down.

I would like to see BTC/USD trade around 900-1100 for a few months.  Then a move to 1400 by the end of the year.

The churning/consolidation is healthy and necessary to support price appreciation in the long term.

The "get rich quick" players need to be flushed out.  They are weak hands.

Printing a 1,3xx handle would erase all doubt.

Although MtGox was the largest exchange at the time, the price was being artificially juiced there.
