Of course the wallet is one of the most important things we have to realize. You can have the best coin in the world. Without a good wallet, you can't attract newbies. Look at the beginning of NXT. NXT have had much advantages but the NXT-devs weren't able to attract people without good tech-skills!

I totally agree, a good looking simple to install wallet is top priority if we want more people using NEM.
