Re: [Awesome Miner] - Powerful Windows GUI to manage and monitor up to 200000 miners

I will review this scenario. On more recent OS versions, Awesome Miner can successfully connect to and get the details from Nicehash without this error.

When you load this link with Chrome, can you please press F12 to open the Developer Tools? Go to the Security tab and see the "Connection" section. This one will state the TLS version. It could however be that Google tries to connect with QUIC.

You are correct, it was showing QUIC. I review the log file again to look for other such errors, and noticed it would not connect to prohashing (https://prohashing.com/api/v1/status) either, with the same error. checked in developer tools and it is connecting there with TLS 1.3.

I ran both sites (prohashing.com and api2.nicehash.com) through Qualys SSL (https://www.ssllabs.com/ssltest/) test just to be sure they support TLS 1.2, which they do.

I have since upgraded the OS to 2019 and the problem seems to be resolved, which is strange, since 2019 only supports up to tls 1.2, same as 2012r2. Could be a user agent string problem perhaps. Thanks again for your help, problem solved for now!

Hello Patrike, hoping you can help with Awesome Miner not updating Nicehash profitability properly. I'm not sure when it started, but the profitability on NiceHash has not been updating like the other pools. I first noticed this after Eth merge when we started looking for other coins to mine. Nicehash has been stuck on the same profitibility stats since at least then. I've found entries like this in the log file:

[089] [E]Failed to download string from: https://api2.nicehash.com/main/api/v2/public/stats/global/24h/
System.Net.WebException: The request was aborted: Could not create SSL/TLS secure channel.

If I browse to that address with Chrome on the same machine, I do receive a valid response. OS is Windows Server 2012 R2, and TLS 1.2 is enabled in SCHANNEL registry settings.

Any insight you could provide?

Revenue/Profit display in main window

Not sure if this has been brought up, but i think the Profit is not being calculated properly in the main display per rig.

I have power usage specified in each profit profile specific to 1 GPU matching the same GPUs hashrate. (this is the proper way, correct?)

This way i get a good idea of revenue/profit for each gpu for each coin/online service.

Now when a rig with 13 GPUs in it is mining, the revenue in the main display is correct, but the profit displayed is subtracting only the calculated power usage of just 1 GPU/day from revenue, not 13.

Does this make sense, or should i give a few examples? I'm not sure if this is a known issue or not, or maybe i'm just configuring something wrong.

I frequently use the JSON from WTM for pulling statistics. However, I have found quite a few new coins that do not show up in WTM. I'd like to still pull in the difficulty data for these coins, is there a way to actively do this? I understand how to create a coin, but that just statically sets the difficultly.

There was reference to be able to do this in 4.4 changelog. Havent investigated further yet:

- Awesome Miner API method to set coin properties, for setting profitability of custom coins from external applications

I usually dont have to do anything special besides adding the json url into statistics tab for coins to show up. They dont appear right away, but after a few statistics update cycles they do.

The only time they dont is if the algorithm hasnt yet been added and enabled in awesome miner. Both in the algorithm tab as well as adding and enabling the miner propely in the managed software tab (not 100% sure this second point is necessary, but it's what i've always done). Good examples of this are Cryptonight-light, polytimos, HSR or TimeTravel10. Once the algo is added the stats from whattomine show up in the coins tab.

Why are so many coins as of late going with this god awful dark color scheme. Black text on dark grey background? Light grey text on white background? Why? Stop already.

How come when i supply both c= and mc= same coin, instead of mature coins sending to my wallet they are labeled only as "exchange". I'm speaking specifically about neodash. here's my wallet for reference: Is this normal?

http://zergpool.com/?address=T1r43WPvPEysAAtrB1RShcrmaKs53TvS7

There is common status pattern among all coins, as they can both participate in Exchange or being directly refunded. We only don't exchange portion of coins entitled to be payed directrly.

You should not worry about this status, just give it a time.

I still have not received my coins. Where were they sent, because i have not received them in my wallet. I also mined neodash at hashpool.eu and received all coins from them already.

I see no transactions here: http://zergpool.com/site/tx?address=T1r43WPvPEysAAtrB1RShcrmaKs53TvS7 but my balance has been drained away to zero.

don't forget the one that comes with AMD driver now.

Wattman

While setting up my vega rigs to mine cryptonight based coins, i got so fed up with trying to get wattman and HBCC working with the blockchain drivers. just a buggy pile of mess. In the end i set up 2 commands to run before mining starts on them, using the devcon (MS windows deployment kit utility) to disable and re-enable the vegas (this resets hbcc somehow), and then OverdriveNTool (3rd party utility) to set the clocks, voltages, power levels and fanspeed for each card using a saved profile. i dont even have wattman installed, just the drivers and nothing else.

I got a request not sure if you will do it but think about it.  Please  .

Sense the DEV of afterburner said he won't support anything over 8GPUs and calls mining crazyness . lol

which isn't any more.

is there a way you can link AM to use other OC clocking software or come up with something built into awesome like ab and the AB Server . it might benefit you better in the long run .

I'll even pay extra for it , if needed ... as a bought add on with a one time charge Smiley .
Thanks for your suggestions on this.

Developing and maintaining overclocking libraries for AMD and nVidia myself would probably take quite some time. I've also looked at alternatives like nVidia inspector that can be launched via command line to do clocking.

Are there any other good solutions out there to integrate with?

Whats silly is afterburner works fine with 10 GPUs, so clearly it's not a 8GPU limitation. It only crashes when you do 11+ GPU. Sounds like laziness or antipathy on Afterburner Dev's part, which is unfortunate.

When setting up a new rig, instead of Afterbuner, I've recently started using asus GPUTweak on all my rigs to set baseline power and fan profiles for 12 GPU rigs beforehand.

For managed miners, I then have in the execute additional commands section, "nvoc *coreclock* *memclock*" (3rd party utility) to set the core and memory clocks, and "nvidia-smi -pl *watts*" (nvidia utility) to set the power levels. It's not as easy as afterburner, but it is for sure more reliable. I do like that nvsmi takes wattage numbers for input instead of a % amount, which can vary depending on different cards TDP factory settings. Can't use this for profit miners at the moment unfortunately, i'm hoping something similar will be considered for them in the future.

1) You can still force the profit miner to mine a specific unlisted coin. In Options dialog, Coins&Profit section, you can add a user defined coin where you also can specify high profit value for it. Then add a pool using this coin and then add the pool as a "Custom pool" to the profit switcher (Profit switching section of the Options dialog). When the profit switcher looks at what is most profitable, your user defined coin will be number one.

2) If you only have Managed Miners (not profit switching), please use the concept of Managed Template to fast change between different configurations. This can be used instead of defining two Managed Miners for a single computer. See:
http://www.awesomeminer.com/help/managedtemplate.aspx

1) I understand the concept of the changing the coin in the profit section, the problem with setting a coin to an artificially high value to force it to the top is that now the estimated earning values are off. From a convenience stand point, i dont have a "rough estimate" on how much i'm making. If i leave an accurate value for the coin settings, i would have to turn off all other profit switching options and leave only custom pool. Which leads us to the second problem: there's only one place to set custom pool for profit switching, and it applies to ALL profit miners. What if i want only a certain set of rigs to mine one coin, and the rest on regular zpool/mph/hashrefinery settings. Hence the need to have one profit miner and one managed miner for each rig.

To take that scenario even further, I am soon going to have certain rigs that need 4 miners configured because i have both amd and nvidia cards in them, 1 nvidia managed, 1 amd managed, 1 nvidia profit and 1 amd profit. 4 licenses used on one rig Sad

2) I appreciate the managed templates, they help alot, but now I've got an ever growing list of templates, because I need to have a seperate template for each different combination of video card, coin and in some cases, pool. I think something that would help tremondously with this had been brought up as a feature request before, the ability to mass apply only certain settings to all the selected miners, instead of an entire template. I eagerly await that feature Smiley

Do you mind if i ask why licenses are tied to number of miners configured, instead of to the managed hosts themselves?

Patrike, is there any way to change miner type from Managed Miner to Managed Profit Miner and back? Some tips?
It would be extremely helpful.

Is it not possible to create another miner for the same rig?

The problem here is now you are using two of your license counts for one rig. I currently have it set up this way, one managed miner, and one managed profit miner per rig. My 20 rigs are using all 40 licenses I've paid for. When i add my next rig, changing the miner type under different scenarios would end up being a huge inconvenience. There are times when i want auto-switching based on WTM profitability and other times i want to mine new coins that are not listed. Having to remove a profit miner and add a managed miner to the same host and Awesome has now gone from helping to obstructing.

I'm sure with the proper feedback and suggestions, Patrike will improve the software. Thats what i love the most about aweome miner, the support is first class.

Patrike, is there any way to tie the license limits to managed host instead of managed miners? Or maybe have settings for both managed miner and profit miner in the same profile, and just a switch as suggested above to toggle between the two for each miner?

Hello Patrike,

I really like the ability to mass-upload custom software to all selected miners. And then after doing so, it asks to set the mining software path for all of them en masse.

Is there any way to get to "set the mining software path" mass update dialog without having to upload custom software first?

Taking this one step further, maybe as a feature request:

What do you think about some way to mass-update multiple fields for all selected miners? It could look like the regular configuration box, but with all options greyed out. Then the fields you want to update, you can select/enter values into, thus "enabling" them. Applying it would change only those values that were modified to the selected miners and leave all others intact.

Afterburner does not work (does not open)  in my 13gpu 1080ti system, I use Asus GPU Tweak 2 and can make OC to all the gpus without any problem. Maybe it should be integrated into Awesome Miner, too. Another option could be nvoc utility (https://github.com/deathcamp/NVOC) to oc mem and core; "nvidia-smi -pl xxx" for the power. A bat file could be created from all of these.

Seconded. Afterburner just crashes with 12 GPUs, works fine on my 8 GPU rigs. I too have resorted to using NVOC and nvidia-smi -pl to set my rigs with a bat file. This works fine for regular managed miners as they have the ability to run command before starting to mine. It's more of an issue for the profit switching miners, would need some way to run different command per algorithm.

Hey Patrike,

Maybe this is a bug:

When i load a GPU clocking profile, make a change to the values, and then click profile > save, the values get wiped out and going to profile > load to see the list, everything is blank under the profile.

If i do profile > "save as" with the same name, it will just create a new one and i would have to go to each miner settings and switch to the new profile.

The only reliable way i've found to modify the values is direclty editing the configdata.xml
