Claymore not keeping voltage settings. Win 10,  rx580s, blockchain drivers 11 aug. The rig starts normally and the power from the wall looks ok. If one of the cards hangs in Opencl and Claymore restarts, the new voltage is much higher, like the settings are not applied anymore. If I restart the rig, the voltage is back to normal but after a while it goes up again. Any thoughts?

I tried to reproduce the issue with clocks and low speed until miner restart.
Windows 10, latest blockchain drivers, stock RX580 Nitro+.
1. No overclock: If I start miner in ETH-only mode, it shows about 16MH/s only (and low memory controller load in GPU-Z) and I see this speed for about 20 seconds, then it shows 24.6MH and works fine. For dual mode it shows full speed immediately. Unfortunately, I have no idea why GPU works slowly within first 20 seconds, it is something related to drivers.
2. I close the miner and apply some changes in clocks: memory 2000 -> 2100, core 1300 -> 1100. When I start miner, I see that it applies new clocks in about 10 seconds, but still shows 18MH/s only for first 20 seconds. Then it shows about 25.5MH.
Note that I use default ROM so these speeds are not high.
3. I close miner and apply new clocks again: -cclock 1000, -mclock 2050. Same behavior: it shows low speed at start, then normal speed for these clocks. GPU-Z shows changes in clocks in about 10 seconds after start.

So right now I cannot reproduce the issue with new clocks: in my tests new clocks are applied immediately, I don't need to restart the miner or reboot the system.

Same here, Gygabyte RX580 custom, w10, aug 11 drivers, ETH only. Everything stable. What I also noticed is that if I reboot, after the initial low hash seconds, sometimes 1 min or so, it recovers to the normal hash but the voltage at the wall is 50W lower when normal speed is restored. Then, after another minute or two, the power consumption goes up again with the same normal high hash speed.

Claymore 10 + blockchaind drivers aug11 + patch + Win 10 creators + rx580s = the most stable mix until now!

When -r 0 no more system freeze, it just restart the miner smoothly. Fans are back in control when set the temp, voltage can be controlled (I have to figure it out why I can't go lower than 0.938 v). Overall, this is the most stable version ever. Thank you man!

updated to 17.7.2 and 9.8 and I cannot keep memory clock at 2045 where I usually keep it.. it keeps bouncing 2045 to 1000 and back to 2045 as a result my hash rate is saw tooth even on my pool page. evn in wattman, the slider is not able to be set to a static value.. seems greyed out.

I installed with DDU to clear old drivers, I also tried upgrading to the new beta drivers and no fix.

it was fine prior to upgrading to 17.7.2

Has anyone else come across this issue?

ASUS ROG Strix Radeon RX 580

disabled secondary monitor and rebooted and I can control memory clock in wattman, but it's still bouncing to 1000 mhz and getting messed up hash

Try to remove the gpu and memory clock settings in your bat file. Leave just the wattman settings.

Claymore 9.8
AMD Driver [Suspicious link removed]p*ute
Gigabyte RX 580 Gaming 8 GB

Voltage doesn't work with Wattman and AB beta 16 or Trixx.

same here, same cards

AMD Blockchain driver + Claymore 9.8
Gigabyte RX 580 moded

- setting a target temperature value: if the temp is higher, the fan speed is increased but does not decrease when the temp lowers. For other cards in the temp limit, fans are constant
- voltage in bat file not working
- clock speed triggers fluctuation: it goes to 2100 (or whatever set) and back to 1000 and so on. If not set, it works.

Claymore 9.8 + 17.7.2 gives me GPU Memory fluctuations. It goes 2100, next second 1000. And so on. Rx 580. Anyone experience this behavior? Claymore 9.8 + 17.7.1 is stable.

any ideas to get 28-30 mhs?

Increase RAM clock to 2200 (or close to that, what is stable for you)
Decrease GPU: 1200 MHz
Decrease TDP: -10%

With bios mod, it should give you 28-29-30 depending on the driver/miner version. (I suggest latest available from both + Creative Update for Windows)

You cannot get 29-30 anymore with this card. You are 2 months late. That's because of the hashrate dropping for AMD cards on each epoch. The actual rate now is somewhere 27+. If someone else has better hashrate for this card, please share the bios.

yes you can. my powercolor 470/4 samsung gets 29.3. just strapped 1750 upward. 1040/2100 clocks. my msi 470/4 with samsung gets 27 with same settings. not sure why the msi is lower. kvm is plugged into the powercolor

also this is dual mining sia -dcri 15 setting. each is doing ~400 mhs sia.

so all i did is the memory straps, nothing else in the bios was touched except i raised the power limit from 5 to 25 on the powercolor.

it is possible the 29.3 mhs rate is an error possibly? however rig is stable for weeks at a time, and that card shows no artifacts when displaying the desktop.

He was talking about rx 580 Gigabyte with Hynix  memory.

Hello guys, I have GIGABYTE Radeon RX 580 GAMING 8GB

Its def give 21 mhs after flash 26mhs.

can someone help ? i would like got 28-30 mhs.

what I Did:

in flash/Bios   24 Mhs
Memory

MHz   Mv
300    1000
1000  1000
2000  1000

Mhz | Timing Strap

1750 copy
2000 replace.

in flash/Bios   26 mhs
Memory

MHz   Mv
300    900
1000  900
2000  900

Mhz | Timing Strap

1750 copy
2000 replace.

Does anyone know what the most common/probable causes are for a gpu hanging?  One of my RX580s hangs after about 15 or 20 minutes every time.  Very frustrating.

This subject has to have a dedicated thread as it occurs to many.

Try:
- add -gser 2 and -eres to the bat file
- check cables, risers, physical connection
- ddu drivers and reinstall
- probably you overclocked too much, try lower values (even the same, the cards might need different values)
- check psu, probably the power is not enough
- check voltage, probably it's too low for that card, try to increase
- reload default bios for the card
- reinstall windows
- change pcie generation to 2
