A lot of otherwise intelligent people still just don't understand how the price of a bitcoin is arrived at. I think a lot of people must think bitstamp and mt gox and btc-e bought a lof of bitcoins and now they are selling them? Perhaps we need some kind of education campaign to help them understand how the price is really determined?
Like I have friends that don't understand what gives a bitcoin its value. They just don't get that it's just other people buying the coins. It's so obvious to us, but for the people on the outside not so much.

Well i find it very discouraging that bytemaster response to cunicula is that bitgold will just magically track real gold price even though it is backed by nothing. Bytemaster can not explain away the obvious and significant problem that bitGold will not track the price of real gold. Bitshares is fatally flawed and bytemaster ignores any one that proves that it is. Bitshares is just trading fake digital assets to suckers dump enough to convert usd into bitshares in a ponzi that will collapse the moment cash flow into bitshares can not support the ratio of the bitshares: bitasset:usd to real world asset.
Also bytemaster, i believe you owe cunicula an apology for stealing his work, Unregulated Corporation Cryptocurrency, and claiming it as your idea.

pfft sure buddy, lets see some sort of external audit on these shares until then we all are quite certain that >90% of the shares were fake buy to yourself, against a fake amount of float, with no third party auditor. i think you will find there actually very little real btc that got spent buying this, probably RS just playing games with the float to make a fake market price to sucker people.
I'm calling shenanigans on this fake manipulated market price for the shares. But hey congrats if you get a few people falling into buying this crap. BTC markets really are the wild west when it comes to investment fraud!
Well since my complaint, it looks like alot of my advice is being taken, and based on this I will begin investing resources into mec again. Good to see us moving forward.

I'm gonna make another ridiculous prediction and say that in 2014, Bitcoin will reach parity [and surpass] the price of actual, real GOLD.
We're at $180 right now on Bitcoin, after a huge ~$40 spike in just one week. Gold is at roughly $1350.
If Bitcoin gets that ETF license, the way I'm certain they will, then surpassing Gold will be a sure thing, if not, then it may take an extra year to do it. I am sticking to my Public ETF prediction and I'm now adding the Gold Parity prediction to happen in the next year.
The government, the banks and most of all, millions of blind, mindless sheeple will make this prediction come true.
Let the countdown begin!

well at no point did i hate on Megacoin at all, i simply said i have a decent size investment in it and would like to contribute to the development effort, but I am discouraged by the little communication and team involvement by Kimoto.
