one other thing, i use phoenix miner and version 5.0e works perfect but having issue with 5.1 constant restarting and resetting and 100's of rejected shares. is it my settings or something has changed with 5.1

I have been educating myself on solar not just for mining and trying to do it on my own rather than paying someone a tone money for the setup $$$$

while there are a lot of info out there but it is still lots of unknown in every case.

my initial thought was to start small and expand on it if everything went as expected. is that bad idea? i am wanting to have a grid tie system with no battery backup.

also it would be nice if you could recommend or list a few parts

mmpOS has been a solid work horse for the past year or so, it just works!

however earlier this month i started experiencing the same issue as reported by MSF99, disappearing cards, random cards. my initial thoughts was the cards are going bad on me. i have 6 580's all 8GB except one but it turned out it was the issue with phoenix miner and dag file creation was the issue. since version 5e it's been back to normal mostly.

if monero is what you are after than Amd is your only choice, mixing cards in a rig is asking for headache yes it will work but there will be a lot of pain and down time.

if you are open to idea of mining other coins i think 1660, 1660ti are the best choice of cards it cost less uses less power and ROI quicker also resale value.

i sold all of my cards with the exception of few Rx570s and planning to buy 1660s, just slow process for me to get back in the game

you are complaining about 5% drop in the hash rate while there are other coins that you can mine with your 1080ti that are nearly 100% more profitable than ETH   

have a look at this guy using a cheap grid tie inverter, i think it is much better option at a lower initial cost and you can always add to it as you go even adding batteries.

mining on windows is nothing but headache and way too much work, with the number of riggs you are dealing with is a full time job and than some. the down time alone will eat up your profit quickly if i were you i would look into some linux distros like ethos smos.

i am a hobby miner IT guy myself and been testing mmpOS and i really like it it's been super stable for my AMD cards

most power companies in US charge extra premium after 1000KW or so, is yours a fixed amount?
