it's a bit over the top shouting scam because of teething problems. So you missed out on the first 5 minutes of mining - i missed out on four hours before i got things working, and my problems had very little to do with the devs. Which from reading through the piles of crap written so far seems like most people were in the same boat as me.

Things are working now and some of us are pretty happy.

Making up rumours and calling scam doesn't get you any kudos with anyone but yourself.

bfgminer can't find either. I'm using cgminer instead.

little update, after trying to start bfgminer and then returning to cgminer the first one is swinging between 8.5 and 10.7 and the average is showing 9.1.

I maybe should have mentioned that I bought these as 5ghs and one has run rock steady at 6ghs and the other at 6.5ghs with some amazing spikes on start up, up to 43ghs.

Avr dragon shows number one 3.3v

and number 2 3.2v.

I flashed two jalapenos yesterday with the 1.2.9 firmware.

Got some strange results on both:

These two shipped together in one box, I bought them used. I'm guessig they are fairl early as the heatsink leaves room for the jtag cable.

they have 1256 chips not 1128.

The first one I flashed without making any changes in the firmware and it hashed at a steady 3740...

So I went back into the files and changed it from a single to jalapeno in the std_defs.h.

It hashed at 6745, 7740 and 8812 cycling between the three exact rates.

I went back in and altered to a little single and nothing changed.

So I went back in again and altered it to a Jalapeno and the frequency from 33  to 64.

Tested it and it now cycles between 7891 8898 and 10126.

Used the exact same build on number two and it cycles between 6665 7490 8812.

Wondering what is going on and what I did wrong?

Hardware errors on both after 24 hours are low 76 on the first one and 188 on the second.

They are not in the cases and have a 120 mm case fan on top of the heatsink. Before flashing they ran at 33 degrees and after they are running 41.

Well, for traveling people a global currency as Bitcoin can be a positive development. It could be a good idea for Danish people to own some Bitcoins for the times they are traveling to Euro zone...

Unfortunately I think denmark will be in the euro soon.

I'm going to be having a meet with our head of tourism, local business and the mayor in a couple of weeks.

Think I'll try and sell the publicity value of accepting Bitcoin, rather than the advantages of Bitcoin.

Admittedly the porn payments are going to raise awareness for those who want a certain level of anonymity.

But real mainstream acceptance, in my opinion is going to be with more mundane and everyday things. Avoiding currency conversion costs could be a major incentive.

Bitcoin tourism - a question
by
otsaku
on 17/01/2014, 15:06:56 UTC
With the apparent difficulty of pushing Bitcoin into the mainstream, I was wondering if Bitcoin tourism would be a possible way of increasing public awareness?

Now I know lots of people are going to throw Overstock, Ebay UK etc. at me, BUT the truth of the matter is that only Bitcoin believers are in a position where they have the currency to use at these places.

If we want a decentralized currency to be the future we need too increase awareness - stating the obvious...

Don't know about the rest of the world but in northern europe people flee to warmer climes in the autumn / winter ( and the wet summers ) and in the summer, even the wet ones, tourists flood in.

I've mentioned in another post that I live on a little island in Denmark, population 3400 but in the summer our population rises to 20000 - we have a total of 150000 tourists passing through the island during the season.

There must be other similar places in the world where the population and amount of business owners is low and hopefully the conversion process would be a little easier.

Maybe I should have entitled this the mission of bitcoin or missionary positions waiting to be filled.

Thoughts, comments, flames, criticisms; welcomed, required and needed.

On the cooling front, I'm resurrecting an old freon unit I used on an overclocked quad board 10 or so years ago.

Freon? Wow.

I pulled apart an old refridgerator and I mean old, got it regassed and ran the pipes over the cpus and inside the case. First draw back was condensation on the insde of the case walls, solved with case fans turned round to pull air out of the case. Second drawback is power, I couldn't find a smaller compressor / pump that was rated for freon so it cost a small fortune to run.

I have solar heating in my house and wondering if it would be possible to run the "cold" return pipes across the heatsinks give my central heating an extra boost in the winter Wink

Just over a month.

Started with usb erupters but that was too slow, bought two jalapenos a week later, sold the erupters for profit

bought a block cube got it a couple of weeks ago, bought 4 red furys last week.

Currently have about 50ghs.

Going to buy some chips and upgrade my Jallies to 10ghs minimum and if I feeling daring try for 20.

Thinking of buying prospero x1's.

Hello bitcointalk.
I was wondering if anyone could provide me with links and give instructions on setting up a USB block erupter to mine on a iMac.
thanks,
-AM

http://blog.nwoolls.com/2013/04/23/bitcoin-mining-on-mac-os-x-guiminer/

But it should just be plug and play, assuming you have mining software installed otherwise follow nwoolls' instructions.

And let me assure you if things don't work after that, then either you did something wrong or the erupter is a dud.

P.s. the search function up in the corner is a helpful tool and a more decriptive title for your thread helps.

Have you tried looking at your hashrate in a calculator and see if your are getting the expected income.

On bitminter my hashrate swings much more than it does in the mining software but I get the expected income.

ip for the cube is 192.168.1.254:8000

you need a stratum proxy running to use your cube.

See this excellent thread for more info:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=352658.0

I run the stratum on RPi - haven't tried running a miner at the same time. Bfgminer apparently has a proxy you can use with the cube but I read somewhere that it was only the windows version. With a little research you can find out if that is still true.

This is about the best thread on the forum, following step by step takes a lot of the fear out of the equation.

I really want to add chips to both my jallies but can't find any. SO anyone have or know where I can find some - looking at four to six chips. Preferably in Europe but at the right price I'll suffer the import tax at this end.

Thanks in advance.

Received my four red furys last week. Buggers to get working but they are working now.

And for the curious; living in Denmark and shopping outside of the EU is expensive.

When importing from outside of the EU you have to pay import tax and vat.

Though there doesn't seem to be a set formular in practice ( I have varying amounts on identical shipments), the rule is that you pay 15 - 25% for import and then 25% vat.

So buying a nice cheap miner from the US or China can incur an extra charge from 37% upwards.

I've done business with people in Denmark who have paid 180% on imports.

Great system that helps pay for all the schools, hospitals and nursing homes they are closing down.

That aside, still a satisfied customer.

how high can the cdf % get?  over 100?

99.999999999999999999999999999...  just add more 9's but it can never reach 100% . the 28 hours time right now is one of the worst we have done in years.

What was the longest so far then?
