Hello,

just wondering : has anyone been able to deploy the technology behind the Bitcoin Blockchain to handle their "money" transactions?

I only know of Ripple, but it's not a commercially available product to all non-cryptocurrency users.

probably best to use an escrow service and miners that have BTC available via exchanges like localbitcoins.com

not impossible.

Yes and higher.

People will start trading alternative coins soon and Bitcoin will become more of a 'hold asset'. This will drive up demand and reduced supply prices will go up. Additionally, once people understand that Bitcoins can be used in 0.01 or 0.001 units they will ensure that their products are made available. The cost of trading in bitcoin will be much lower, but i will assume that volume of bitcoin trades will reduce due to increasing value.

the rise in hashing capacity is mainly due to the release of ASIC miners from October 2013 onwards. The next batch is expected around March/April 2014 and will have significant impact. However, at the same time miners with smaller hashing power will move to mine alternative coins. That's where the money is in my view.
