Re: Bitcoin price is being manipulated in China
by

you would really need a lot of money to do this and would still take a high risk. plus we can profit by selling high and buying low. so why should i care. bitcoin is all about the price lately anyways.

you said it as you know when it is high and when it is low, could you have predicted the bottom and then the current value? i really doubt

their manipulation is to eat fish that think can predict the market, like you and other, and yes they have plenty of bitcoin to manipulate the market, miners alone have in the range of 100k if not more

this estimate can be easily achievement with the big miners farm that worked for all these years, i also believe that some of the big pool can work together to manipulate the price if it is done at their advantage
so either their influence is so small that there is no real price change or it is big enough to profit.

Re: Megaupload + Bitcoins
by
p_linz
on 09/01/2017, 06:50:33 UTC
Files are being exchanged daily with the torrents, soo i dont see why megaupload will become again ilegal, there is stuff that has been lost in the past, and there is no place to find those data, besides some people which does have them. As in the past people will try and make the new megaupload a sucess, sure police has an eye into this since they have their position, what i expect now id Kim does pay for copyrights some kind of fee, soo he can keep legal with his project, otherwise might become the biggest nightmare of crypto currencie.

What are you saying? Are all the files being uploaded and downloaded thru torrents legal to you? The only thing that made it easy for the government to shut Mega Upload down is because it was a centralized service. Torrents is a different matter entirely because it is peer to peer/decentralized. I believe Kimdotcom's new idea is a decentralized file sharing network that utilizes Bitcoin.
is his bitchache or how his solution to the scaling problem is called decentralized?

I don't know if Bitcoin is finished, but some time ago everybody was talking about the positive things Bitcoin brings. Very cheap transactions where a big point. It's not the case anymore. But at last we can handle many transactions per second. Oh i forgot, we can not. thank god we are decentralized....
All i see is talk about the price. People forget the technology. To bad.

Re: Bitcoin in the classroom, yes or no and why?
by

This is for a personal writing project I'm working on. I imagine that Bitcoin would be good for things like teaching things like math with decimals ("How many Satoshis do you need to get a tenth of a Bitcoin?", stuff like that), budgeting (Spend it on whatever you want, but when it's gone, it's gone), or even a little bit of IT / programming stuff like how cryptography works. What do you guys think of this?
the goal in class is to teach something. if it is math, then you should teach math. if i count with apples or satoshis is not important, but the focus should be on learning math not on learning bitcoin.

That makes sense, but you'd be surprised by how literal kids can be when they're trying to learn decimals. That apple isn't one tenth of anything other than a box of ten apples. It's one apple. You don't necessarily have to explain much more about Bitcoin than what a Satoshi is, and maybe how to obtain some Bitcoin, for our purposes.
there is one more thing i would consider. if you teach it in class, then i would not be surprised if some parents wouldn't be to happy about it and complain. So i would make sure that i would not get into trouble because of this.

Re: To those who says Bitcoin is too expensive for a virtual item

Furthermore, your name is just virtual or information, is it worthless to you? Would you be fine if I just named you Rumpelstiltskin from now on?
-snip-
if i have to pay you just so you name me by my name, then by all means go ahead and give me names.

"to pay for" is not the same as "has value", that was the whole point. Non-physical things have value, e.g. your name.
but only if someone is willing to pay for them. if nobody is willing to pay, then i see no value there.

but most people will tell you that you are not really paying for the item in those games. you pay for the fun with you hobby that you have.

Nope, you can have perfectly fine fun in those games without having an ultra rare skin. Their are prestige objects and I think thats a good reason to not use them as counter arguments. Domain names are a way better example that people can understand better. Whats amazon.com worth? Its just virtual. Furthermore, your name is just virtual or information, is it worthless to you? Would you be fine if I just named you Rumpelstiltskin from now on? Non-physical objects have (personal) value and there is no reason why there should be an upper bound unless it has a physical form.
if i have to pay you just so you name me by my name, then by all means go ahead and give me names.
every hobby makes fun even with shitty gear. people pay for better stuff to enjoy it more. same goes for gaming.
some might buy expensive stuff for hobbies to compensate but this is the same for gaming and offline stuff.

You have to explain your conclusion more.
Why would selling bitcoin for yuan satisfy the PBOC? Why/How would the idea of decentralized cryptocoins be compromised by this?

Re: Need a list of all bitcoin casino / dice sites that exist

i don't think there is a way to list them all. All you have to do is start one and make a site. There is no central register where you have to be on, so there is no place to look up. All you can do is google it. I'm sure there are sites where you can see the most popular ones, but the business also changes daily.

Now I'm still sitting on 4 of those. I gave 3 to girls I fell in love with, one traded one of them back for a new car, the other used it to pay for her wedding. My only regret is not buying a few of the 1000btc coins.
Dude, you gave them to girls and still have 4? I can dress pretty and act like a lady Smiley I'm a good cook to and make love long time. PM me Wink

Bitcoin will go up or down or stay the same. i don't think it will have an influence on Bitcoin. Maybe go down if some waited for the end of the year to withdrawal, but don't ask me why.

could be good if they do it right, but i doubt exactly this. Also let's see how the situation in one year will be. If nobody uses it, then it is useless anyways.
Many bitcoin user will use it for sure because there are only few merchants that are accepting bitcoin payment. We should be happy that starbucks is accepting bitcoin now. Im really exited when starbucks is accepting here in our place
 I will surely try it.
I think most will try it out. See that it cost more and also wastes your precious Bitcoin, which you then have to buy new ones and pay a fee again. So i guess after 2-3 tries most people will go back to paying in fiat.

to be honest, they are not beautiful. not the most good looking coins, but it is the inside that counts. knowing what they are worth makes people want them. to bad i never bought any, but they seem to me to much like an piece you just hold and never going to use, so not so practical.
