can confirm I've received my share of the payout.

thanks for the hard work thomas_s but with the BTC price going down, this was simply impossible to break even.  we appreciate the work you put in to make it work and run the group buy anyway and I look forward to future DZ group buys!

Cheers!

railzand&tongxiaoniu if you vote to sell the miner then please state the number of shares you have in the group buy! We need 4 more votes to sell the miners and get some more money back! not full ROI but as close as possible!

Re: [OPEN] NinjaGRP#7 800GH Rackmount Avalon3 Miner $2700 Hosting as low as $199/mo

With the current price of bitcoin there isn't going to be ANY miner that will show a good ROI prediction ~ you're probably better off just buying bitcoin.  A few hundred dollars higher and it's a different ball game.  It's not the first time the mining forecast was all doom and gloom, but somehow most of the miners have managed to stay in the game.  Last time around it was the move from ~$100 average price up to ~1000 that saved the day for miners; how it will play out from here is anyones guess.  I can tell you that even 10% sustained growth at this point without an increase in BTC/USD rate will be toxic for most miners.

There can be some interesting tax advantages to mining at a small loss, particularly if you have other gains to offset. You can write off the mining losses, but still acquire bitcoin for future appreciation.  The mining hardware really can't even be considered a capital investment as it becomes so quickly obsolete.  It's cost is more akin to a drill bit for an oil rig, a straight expense.  There are similar tax strategies using oil/gas ventures.

Also you never know what exclusive offers we will find for our owners only group buys. We're making all sorts of interesting contacts in the bitcoin industry and are still excited about building out a big mine.

I urge anyone considering this group buy to do your homework before investing:

https://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/calculator

Using the values:
- 800 ghs hash power
- 2700 USD for hardware cost
- Monthly charge of 250USD

This hardware will NOT break even.  Not at 20% increment in difficulty, not at 10% difficulty increment... Only at 8% difficulty increase.

Please correct me if I am wrong, but I simply feel bad for people investing in such a group buy without understanding the hole they put themselves in.

Fair answer!  If the price of bitcoin does rise, it could indeed be profitable Smiley  All the best to you and I commend your composed and articulated answer.  Too much patience loosing in this forum over legitimate debate.

Last ditch effort:

SHARE HOLDERS, WE CAN STILL MAKE SOME EXTRA BITCOIN IF WE SELL THESE DEVICES.  IF WE LET THEM RUN WE WON'T BE PROFITABLE ANYMORE AND MANAGEMENT WILL TAKE ALL THE PROFIT (because the generated BTC will be extremely low and close to management fees)

PLEASE VOTE TO SELL AND SPECIFY YOUR AMOUNT OF SHARES

Argh but share holders don't vote, can't you make an executive decision on behalf of those who voted ? Everyone that DID vote said to sell.

We are missing a great chance to make back some of our losses.  There is no way we make that back if we keep mining... Time is running out and shareholders just don't check the forum enough....

thomas_s: can you see the shares of those who voted and see how close we are?

Can't you make an executive decision to sell? Without a doubt this will yield the biggest ROI for all!!!

Still in, no point in getting dinged the restocking fee, along with current btc value now compared to end of 2013.

You are assuming they are refunding on a BTC value at order time basis not a $ value at order time basis, i've been trying to get an answer out of bobsag for weeks on that!! Sent 3 PMs (IGNORED) and raised the quesion of forum several times (IGNORED).

Personally, i've got invoices that show $ value (even though I paid with BTC) so would expect any refunds to be at the $ value.

Refunds so far (from what I have read, from what bob has said and from my own experience) have been in BTC.  I received the exact BTC value that I paid for my shares back.

I vote sell with my 6 shares! So my 6 plus Pimd's 4 shares makes 10 total shares voting for SELL.

Next person to cast their vote add up the total share count!

How much do we need for selling? more than 50% shares voting sell?

I am going to cut the hosting fees for R22/23/24 25% from here on out. I was able to swap the PSUs for more efficient ones at no cost. Or, we can keep the hosting fees the same and OC each machine adding an extra ~12% to performance.

That's great bobsag3, but I think for us this is too little too late.  Earlier on this might make a difference but this won't increase our ROI much as it's starting to make less and less by the day.

I still vote sell.

Not sure what the best method of getting a vote going is?  Should be fast though as every day counts here....
