You need to run aeond, and you need to let it sync (2-48 hours depending on several factors), then you can run your wallet.

Great - Thanks. For some reason I was thinking simplewallet was a way to connect to the network without getting a full sync.

Well, there is a way, by using a public node. There aren't too many of them so far for Aeon, and by using them, you may give up some privacy. Here's a list on Reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/Aeon/comments/73829j/public_nodes_new_list/

I have always found the 4 letter ticker a bit strange, and would prefer 3 letters for Aeon's ticker. I hadn't thought about exchanges being reluctant to change a ticker, but if they can be convinced, there's little to loose I guess. It will definitely make our crypto-currency easier to Google: Aeon yields a lot of false positives (41 million), while XAE … currently "only" shows 1.8 million hits.

Try to clone master and build it, must be ok. Reply if it works or not.

I was trying to build Aeon 0.9.7.1 today on macOS (10.12.3), but I am getting a warning at 25% for "skein.c.o", and next an error at 26% for "slow-hash.c.o". This is on a Mac with Haswell CPU.

FYI, I built the previous release on macOS using brew, so I can't compare. Any ideas?
