My post was about the VAR with football. If you offer a delay of 5 seconds or less, you're bound to have issues or customers complain that their bet has been canceled. That doesn't seem like something you really want. And if a bet had been settled in favor of the bookmaker because the odds were off, they wouldn't be able to cancel it and take the winnings. I suspect they have increased the delay time to make sure people don't exploit the system and thus no problems arise for both parties. It wouldn't be the first time that players have complained that bets are canceled. A longer delay is annoying, but it is fairer for the player and the site.
