Re: The biggest ideological flaw in NEM
by
peter378
on 14/07/2016, 18:39:34 UTC

I mean I'm not really sure how I could have resolved it. Really bad situation, I had to focus on my military orders and just assumed I would be covered with my .7 nemstake.

Obviously the distribution process wasn't perfect and I get that for people in the military in can be especially hard to keep up with stuff like this. Here's how other people in the military solved it though: During that close to one year of redemption they dropped me a pm and I handled the redemption for them. 1 pm is all it took. I think around 5 people contacted me either during their deployment or because they knew they were going to be deployed soon and couldn't participate in the normal process. I understand that even that can be too much to ask during deployment but you asked for a way to resolve it - that's what worked for other people. Obviously they had to trust me but there wasn't a whole lot they had to lose.
It's not like the people handling the distribution were totally unreasonable tyrants. It was simply a process that turned out to be imperfect. There had to be deadlines because the unclaimed stakes were supposed to go to funds that the team knew were needed for sustainable future development and investments into the project. Noone pocketed those stakes. At some point people had better things to do than handling distribution a year after this whole thing started. It sounds harsh but that's just how it was.

Too bad that didnt work out for me. Just seems like an unfair solution. Why should the stakes ever expire for people who donated to the project?

It does seem unfair, but anyone who bought in at the start knew they were buying into a plan without any code behind it. The ethereum ICO was similar, but it gave you a sort of redemption code you could claim your coins with. Ideally NEM should have given out similar codes, but it's distribution wasn't as professional as ethereum's.

Re: Would like to talk to a programmer experienced in decentralization

I have an ambitious new project that I would like to crowdfund. I would like to talk to someone with more experience in the field to know how much it would cost and if the technology is viable.

You are probably making your request in the wrong section. The project development section is where most requests for programming help are made and replied to.

EDIT: Spelling

Why did you post this? Is there someone on the forum who compares posts if they have changed? Or you feel yourself so important that you think somebody cares if you fixed spelling errors? Dude, your posts are so long that noone reads them completely, let alone checking your grammar.

Actually I read his post.

Let's not forget BigVern is back in business in China with Cryptsy clone.

~BCX~

He had $ 692 of bitcoin trades on his bitebi9 exchange today, and no trades whatsoever on the other 20 markets. That smells fishy, why would someone trade one bitcoin there when nobody else even trusts him with one dogecoin?

I changed my sig to the lisk signature. The devs will probably get a huge quantity of btc and it's not likely they will get so little that they refuse to keep working on the project. The testnet's up and running to show everyone the software and that shows how hard they already worked on the project.

Re: How Much Would You Be Willing to Pay For A Bitcoin Membership Site?
by

I wouldn't be prepared to pay anything, and I think there should be an option in your poll for people like me, otherwise its results will be biased. I read technical analysts threads here, and on other websites dedicated to TA but I don't believe any of them. None of them are worth paying for because it's rare they make good calls.

I apologize for going off topic, but why don't you work at Ripple Labs anymore? Did you choose to leave, or are they making people redundant? Ripple's been crashing in price and I was wondering what the reason for it is, and if any insiders are Allowed to discuss it, or if they have non-disclosure agreements.

Where's all the data going to be stored? Smartphones have limited memory and significant off time when their batteries run out, or they exceed their data allowance. If he can do it I'll take my hat off to him, but I can't understand how he can make a data intensive network function with low power devices like smart phones.

Re: US Marshalls auction...what time will results/winner be announced today?
by
peter378
on 08/11/2015, 23:08:39 UTC
I think we might hear from the loser of the auction. I think the price will have gone over market. Well over in fact. Buying that many coins, I think we will find out 400 is a losing bid on all blocks.

Let's see what happens on Monday. Something will leak.

i am more interested in what the actual buying price was for the auctioned coins. don't think it's much higher or lower than the market price.

Have we found out what one winner paid out of any of the auctions? Tim Draper wouldn't say and I can only remember a few losing bidders who disclosed what they bid. I don't think any of this auction's winners will disclose what they bid, one or two losing bidders might.

Re: Ripple Ripoff
by
peter378
on 04/08/2015, 19:25:29 UTC
I sold an altcoin for Ripple (XRP) a few days ago and decided to log into my Ripple account. Well, surprise! They have a new platform starting (Ripple Trade) that you have to identity verify and wait for days. In the meantime, I am wondering why I cannot log into my original account to access the several hundred XRP I had there. For starters, they should have notified their users via email that there was a new platform replacing the old. Duh! Their support was no help at all.. told me that I should transfer my XRP from my old account to the new. How would I do that when the old account is out of reach?? I went back and forth with them the last few days.. checked their forum and saw that others had the same issue as me. They are basically STEALING the XRP for anyone who was caught unawares. Please avoid these folks, as they are not working above board...

There are alternative wallets you could use to move your XRP with, but use them at your own risk. For some you need your secret key. For others you need your ripple name and wallet password. There is a wallet maintained by the community that only requires your name and password here. It's SSL certificate isn't authentic so you will have to ignore the warning about it if you use the chrome browser.

https://www.ripplelog.com/client/#/login

You might also need to change some settings as shown below, but I'm not sure.

Try going through the Gear icon (top right) > Settings > Networks and servers.

Ensure these defaults are set:
Blob vault:
https://blobvault.ripple.com

API History:
https://history.ripple.com:443/v1

Websocket home names:
s-west.ripple.com, 443, secure
s-east.ripple.com, 443, secure

You can read about what the community has to say about it here.

https://xrptalk.org/topic/6549-onset-of-ripple-wallets-alternatives-to-ripple-trade/

Someone from the community also created a minimalist wallet that's only a webpage that you can save and run directly from your computer. It needs your secret key and looks very basic. Here's the community thread about it.

https://xrptalk.org/topic/6792-minimalist-ripple-client/

There's also a wallet you can download and run from your desktop like a bitcoin wallet, but you need your secret key to use it. Ripple labs used to provide a download link, but don't anymore. The community provided some links in this thread to a version they made some bug fixes to.

by

V network is up now!

New wallet:
Source code: https://github.com/noise23/version
Windows binary: http://dl.version2.org/version-qt-2.0.0.0.zip

Nodes are built-in, you can sync from scratch, or it will pick up syncing from the old blockchain,
or use bootstrap - http://dl.version2.org/version-bootstrap-537060.tar.gz

Block explorer: http://explorer.version2.org/
Pool: http://v.acidpool.com/

I have to finish with the website then going to start a new V topic as we can't edit the OP here.

That's great work you have done.

Will you be trying to get version back on an exchange soon? The last exchange I remember that listed version was nxt-e which now seems to have closed. It might have also been on some other exchange but I'm not sure which one.

Re: [ANN] NeuCoin - Easy to use, free to try, focused on micropayments - Official
by

Things started to turn ugly when "marketing expert" Mark took over control and started acting like the next Kim Jong Un. Stating that "harshing on my buzz, dude" as part of the official reason for banning someone just gives an idea of the level of professionalism and maturity we can expect from him.

 Cheesy

True.  However, from his languaging, you can tell he's really "hip" and therefore obviously trustworthy.  Roll Eyes

Things are guaranteed to turn ugly for this coin, this was guaranteed from the moment Daniel Kaufman had anything to do with the project, implicated in the direct revenue scams in the mid-2000s and runs a slumlord empire and other dishonorable businesses.

The coin itself is a fork of Peercoin, comes with massive inflation (which is a guaranteed coin killer in the crypto world) and their adoption plan consists of spamming freemium websites with less than 10 million users (sounds great in theory but less than 0.05% even purchases or buys stuff on freemium websites - so you can't 100,000+ paying users among 10 million deadbeats who won't even pay for content they like, never mind paying money for magical internet beans).

What really put me off was all the NeuCoin banner ads someone was paying websites to show. They reminded me of the same banner ads MarineCoin used, and they were displayed on the same websites. If this turns into another MarineCoin then I'm glad I'm out of it.

when do we get neucoins from the survey?

Never. All you get is spam to your inbox.

How long has everyone been waiting? I was considering trying it but I'm not going to if I have to wait indefinitely for a few coins.

Attention: Miners start your engines! Grantcoin has passed block 50,000. The block reward is now 6.25 GRT per block. It will double every 1,000 blocks until it reaches 400 GRT per block.

After it reaches 400 GRT per block will it stay at that block reward permanently?

Dev seems dead, a deadline should be defined for taking over

I agree. Let's give him till thursday 26/4?

Why not Dec 31, 2015? Its already more than one month now and coin is at 2 satoshi.

The more time it takes, less chance for the coin to bounce back. Dick dev left and its time to move on to new dev asap.

+1

If someone is able to take over, i guess it has to be done as soon as possible

There is still good volume on Bittrex which might encourage another dev to take over fast.

This newspaper says one whistle-blower claims that they have taken 130,000 Bitcoins belonging to users.

So I have a quick question...
If I were to rent a rig, 160 MH/s for 12 hours (0.02 BTC) or 315 MH/s for 6 hours (0.019 BTC) which would get me more LiteDoge?

It is depending on diff, at launch diff can rise very high, but then drop after few hours.

But the Rewards drop too ...

The 1,000,000 LiteDoge Reward for the first ~1000 blocks will be very tempting.

by
peter378
on 19/02/2015, 11:41:04 UTC
So there is no premine but you have 75000 for ICO how does that work out please? Why such a small supply?

Nice logo btw pretty cool

I will mine my coin myself of course else it is impossible for me to give those bounties. The ICO money will be used for developing the coin in risky business Wink Our wallet will have a link with the exchanges when we are listed on a exchange, we will include encrypted messages.

A website will be developed what Risky coin means. We will promote this website on several advertation websites so that our website has more then 10.000 clicks a day.

A websites that will use Riskycoin will be added on this main website so that means that we have every day 10.000 people checking out what Riskcoin is.

The ICO money should give us the possibility to promote our coin for weeks, even month, and who knows if the amount in ICO is increasing a lot then maybe even longer.

Will you be paying bittrex to list riskcoin out of the ICO money?
