Re: Imagine you have $50000 to build ETH mining farm, what HW you recommend?

I think, you can stick with AMD card to mining Ethereum. You can choose AMD RX Vega. It can produce approximately 70 MH/s. But one thing you must consider, mining with AMD card, sometimes you must regularly check the drivers update version.

Not everything is profit, trying to run many gpus on a single board is mostly hobby related nowadays.

Re: Best mining GPU and CPU when Power Consumption is Free

After the release of 1070 ti regular 1070 prices may drop. 1070s might be the right choice for zcash. Amd rx prices are going down too, they gonna get you best performance for their price on eth if power consumption is free. Maybe Vega 56s for monero, but its not so stable atm.

Re: Watchdog: GPU hangs in OpenCL call, exit error

I have the same problem but my rig consists of 8x 580 Nitro+.

I have a constant core clock on all of them (1200), set in Claymore config.txt as well as cvddc and mvddc of 857mV. But I have varied memory clocks starting at 2025 and goes up to 2100.

The main problem is that only one card crashes. Good thing the -minspeed argument is working and it restarts my miner should one card crash (together with -wd 0) and everything goes back to hashing a total of 244 Mh/s again. This is dual-mining by the way.

I wanted this issue to be resolved although judging by other's experiences, I'm on the lucky side as my rig still mines and restarts on it's own.

P.S. I used to have an 8x Gaming X 580 rig and it doesn't have this issue. Same board and components.

P.P.S It is not a specific card that is crashing. 4 out of 8 cards takes their turn crashing, one at a time.

Thoughts?

What is powersupply rating? Dual mining is power hungry, ensure that your psu can handle and supply power for all gpus, would suggest psu to have at least 10-15% allotted extra power from the wall.

I'm running twin EVGA G3 850w gold so i'm pretty sure power isn't the problem

And i've fixed the issue yesterday by updating to win10 fcu and 17.10.3 driver.

How long your rig runs with 1200 cclock and 857 cvddc?

Humidity will be around %40 at its best when you have a rig in the room. Its not good for your health.

I assume you properly modded bios with proper straps.

Try these: set gen1 and enable 4g encoding at bios, install Windows 10 uefi and update it, use latest amd drivers with [Suspicious link removed]pute option, try adding to claymore command line -gser 2 -cclock 1200,1200,1200 -cvddc 1000,1000,1000 -mclock 2150,2150,2150

Lower memclock if it hangs. Try lowering core clock/voltage for gpu if its stable.

Window 10 PRO
AMD 17.7.2 minimal drivers.
8GB DDR4
H110- D3A MOBO
1000 WATT PSU
4400 CPU

I'm running @stock 1250/1750, whenever i want to OC. AB and TRIXX are laggy aswell.
I'm getting on avg 112-113 wats but i'm getting flashes of 55w then back to 112 then flashes to 160 .... then back to 112-113, then it repeats itself.

How many cards do you have? Which brand/model?

1000w psu is not the right choice for lets say 6 rx 580 working at stock settings.

Re: Eth mining now profitable

I was browsing through old bitcointalk posts and there was a similar post like this one.

There a fellow was asking pretty much the same thing albeit about bitcoin mining and questioning if it was worth it as he wwwas only getting half a bitcoin a day with a few gpus.

If a question is strictly about mining ( It´s better to buy coins straight from an exchange but if this option is not available for any reason) the answer until now has always been YES , mining is good. That the answer has been positive until of now of course can not be taken as an indication that the answer is positive now or at anytime in the future.

My advice is to take mining as a fun hobby that´ll most probably have financial benefits aswell.

This.

If you dont need to sell your mined coins to pay for your hardware, have knowledge to fix things when something goes wrong, just go for it.

Re: Ethereum mining difficult down a LOT
by

Then why did the payout time on ethermine reduce by ~25% or so ?  I get .05 shares every 15 hours instead of the 20 before the fork.

It's the result of Byz fork. Block time 30s -> 14s and block rewards 5ETH -> 3ETH.
It made 15%-20% increase in ethereum mining profit.

There is no increase in profit at all, you are blind to the truth.

too many reasons for this, did you check your stale shares?

After Byzantium update block times are shorter now. If your gfx card is computing a share from a block which was already found, its a stale share. Stale shares are a bit higher for everyone now but mine are still  around %3 on ethermine. If you have low hashing power i suggest you mining on a less crowded pool.

Re: Power requirements on my rig?
by

on 24/10/2017, 12:26:23 UTC
I have a rig running 8 gpus, 4x570, 4x580. It pulls 1180w from wall that means a bit less on psu side, around 900w. Recommend you using quality psu and risers, a good 80+ gold/plat 1200w psu will be enough for your 6 gpus, if you want to expand later you can add another psu to your mobos psu b slot. Im using same gpu and mobos on some of my rigs, just send me a pm if you need help on tuning clocks and modding bios. I have seen many ppl getting bad results from those cards, if you cant get 30+ just tell me.
