My 3 boards were delivered yesterday and are hashing away happily.  Might even get a whole BTC before it's time to take them offline! Smiley

We all hoped this would turn out better but big thanks to burnin for following through and producing a really fantastic little mining board, absolutely no issues over here.

No source? Not even basic coin info? Virus detectors going off? Yeah, I'm not touching this, and I would be worried if I ran that .EXE.  Protect your wallets folks.

Agreed.

I did run avast and BD on it and it seems to be ok (with the exception of cgminer but that file is always flagged as a virus).

Well that's good news at least, hopefully it isn't straight up malware.  But yes, without source or even a high-level explanation of the "new protocols and things" I have a hard time taking this seriously.

Can't use BFL/Avalon/etc. ASICs for LTC, although you should be able to use them with other sha256 based currencies like PPCoin.

At this point it seems GPU is the only way to go for LTC mining.  Are there any other alternatives on the horizon, say FPGA? I'm guessing the RAM requirements for scrypt hashing make GPU the only reasonable mining solution for awhile, am I wrong?

I've done quite a bit with node.js and socket.io.  This would be pretty simple to implement (the core functionality at least).  You would send trade requests via normal HTTP, see https://github.com/mikeal/request .

Is it really worth doing LightCoins?  Can you spend them anywhere?

From what I understand there's a Silk Road alternative called Atlantis that uses LTC instead of BTC.  I don't visit those sites though so I'm not sure how active/large it really is.

These are interesting! Any plans for a 7950 rig or any sort of options on the video cards?

Adding them later tonight or tomorrow!

Awesome! I'll be sure to check back.

Hey all, I got in last year with some early litecoin mining, lost interest and got back into it recently.  I'll admit it's partially for the profit potential but I'm also just really into programming and computers and things like that so I'm having a lot of fun either way.  If it crashes and burns I don't really care, I love supporting the idea of cryptocurrency and participating in whatever ways I can.  Great forums you guys have here! Trying to get my post count up so I can get in on an ASIC chip group buy. Smiley

I do, I'll admit it.  I first read about them about a year ago when I got interested in this and really considered going for it.  I ended up mining up a bunch of litecoins over a period of a week or 2, sort of got bored with it, and now I'm interested again.  The litecoins seem to be worth something now so I've put that money down on a few 5 GH/s BFL singles for the heck of it.  Seeing the recent videos has convinced me that at least it's a real product and maybe they'll actually start shipping out soon, although I do realize I'm basically at the end of the line at this point.  On a related note I'd like to get in on that ASIC chip group buy as well (hence registering and posting), seems like a fun project.
