Thanks to everyone who has been supporting photon in so many different ways.

Key community members have published a whitepaper for Photon and are operating a stylish website to improve and diversify the project. Welcome all new developers and members. The op has been updated .

nice write up to the guy on steem , well done thanks

thanks also to all the new community members on twitter, this forum, mining and elsewhere

small update before Photon's 4th birthday

minor changes to the code on github added checkpoints and fixed a boost compatibility issue for building on ubuntu 16.04  - added checkpoints

with the help of Bluedragon747 (no thanks to my lousy web design skills) we almost have a snazzy website ready

new community members on social media are rumored to be working on several things to support photon also

I updated the OP with new nodes running the updated code and most exciting a new exchange c-patex

https://c-patex.com/

They have markets for Photon for btc, ltc and blc

They also support all the other blake 256 8r family coins in multiple markets !!

The nodes either are now or will soon be running daemons of Lithium / Blakebitcoin and Electron as I also updated those three on github with fixes + checkpoints !

With all the excitement lately we certainly don't want to soften up security !!

I may have a few more goodies in the next week or so !! Thanks everyone and especially all miners and those running nodes keeping the network secure.  -- I 'll try to think of something exciting for the 4 year launch anniversary !! <<< CC  Cool

Thanks to loyal community members who are still mining and holding Photon and other Blake Coins.

I updated the OP adding Cryptopia where Photon is traded in several markets.

Thanks to Cryptopia for listing the coin and support of Blake Coin , Lithium, and Universal Mol >>>>

They have an impressive exchange with an excellent selection of coins/pairings....

Also thanks to some unknown person who arranged for Photon to be supported by CryptoId a site where there are quite a few alt coin explorers hosted.... Their layout is top notch and for every coin they have a lot of cool features like 'the richest' photon addresses , detailed stats on coin age , node counts and quite a bit more.

Finally a hi five to Bluedragon747 and the other blake coin family devs ...

As to the state of the network now and the future....

The past 3.5+ years has proven our teams intentions were from the heart and truthful to provide cutting edge merged mining capability to max speed of hardware and efficiency --- everything is still working very well.

Anyone looking at the current or historical pricing can see that our supporters/bagholders of coins in the blake 256 family have never got rich by any means...  Obviously right now the current market hype  around bitcoin and other alt coins has attracted a lot of attention and new people to cryptocurrency looking for financial rewards.
Of course we want our work to be successful but we measure our success in things other than 'prices' --
Developing code/solutions - innovation are the best rewards !

Our codebase remains stable (checkpoints  have been added to github source but no new release of wallets for users is necessary) and we have had some discussions for updating the codebase to be parallel with many of the upgrades bitcoin users have enjoyed since the 8.x generation... update will likely not be until next year since our lead dev. Bluedragon747 is working on game projects to integrate Blake  Coin into right at this time.

There are many ideas (of mine and others) that are being considered for the future development  of Photon and features to add. Many of these are obvious next steps / spv client support, mobile apps ect...

For now we are focusing on game development and other 'real world' use cases for coins which without the demand these create there is little need for additional infrastructure.  As always our community is open for anyone who wants to develop /design/ create services or open source software to advance the network. Pull requests for enhancements are always welcome.

More updates as they occur following @PhotonCoin will always have recent information first....

Exciting to see that another block was recently solved.

I assume pool running btc core - curious other core supporters don't join us...

It may only take a little "luck" to entice a few big shoppers which in turn heats up the hash rate & mmpool can climb to a major player this year !!

good or bad, it is on the horizon

i think it overall good since it is the original design

btc would be stripped of all integrity by changing maxmoney at this point or any point in the future ever

unrelated to recent comments but in line with the topic of the thread,

I wonder what the hell is really going on behind the scenes there ,

Would likely make a great film.

I can't wait to hear the story (if it ever comes out)

Re: If bitcoin price is $10.000, will fiat be worthless?
by
photon_coin
on 06/01/2016, 10:48:18 UTC
no

study the history of the talley stick in england

the king used wooden sticks for 'money' and 'required' you pay your tax with them

so ..... since you had to use this form of currency to pay tax

it always kept value

i would expect most nations to keep their currency as the required medium to pay tax

this keeps the scam of the worthless paper that has to be purchased from a private corporation and can be printed up at will alive, and also dilutes the ability to use better currencies/systems

......when there were "economic problems" during the administration of FDR in the U.S. it was illegal to use foreign currency and the govt. confiscated gold in excess of a few ounces.

These laws stayed on the books for years.

Given that the introduction of socialism to the US has diluted the perception of our economic state I wonder about the future.   For example food stamps.  During the depression people went hungry or went to soup kitchens.  At one point just over 30% of the population was getting help this way.

Today in America over 50% of the population is reliant on the government for food stamps and may starve without this.  Worse than the great depression.

I won't get into a discussion of how the unemployment statistics are manipulated now.....

They go away from the topic at hand..............

But these facts are background to prove that it will be a long long time and maybe never before btc or any similar thing fully replaces traditional money --------- whether we like that or not.

yes it is true difficulty may rise almost 20% in a few days however there is a lot of luck involved in mining

you must be prepared to take the 'bad' and 'good'
