Slack says the bittrex stuff is just a bunch of FUD. And that they're meeting with bittrex next week.

My guess is that binance will come first, if it gets high volume there it will also hit bittrex. If not, then bittrex will decide to not list them

I'm glad about binance of course, but they're newbs in terms of exchanges. It would be real dam nice to see it go on bittrex. But I'd like to ask, if anyone knows for sure if Binance will have the same volume as bittrex? Seeing has how the population of china is huge, the fact that its a new exchange may not matter very much.

Nevermind, the trollbox helped. A mod can delete this thread hopefully. Every exchange has to have some kind of unuserfriendly, unintuitive crap you have to get through before you can figure out how to actually trade.

HitBTC trading balance at zero? Why?
by
photonfanatic
on 15/08/2017, 20:17:39 UTC
So I just funded my HitBTC account, so I can trade on the exchange. I see that my bitcoin is there. It shows at the top. So i go to buy into an alt, and no matter what I do, it always says "Insufficient funds". I also noticed that while it does show how much bitcoin I have at the top, (and the dollar value) it also has something next to it that says "Trading balance". Which is at 0. Does that mean anything? Does that have anything to do with it always saying "insufficient funds" whenever I try to buy something? I checked again and again, and tried all kinds of different things trying to buy something. Can't do it. Any ideas?

Does anyone have something like a... timeline that we can look at? I know they have their road map, but it doesn't really say when they expect that items on the road map might get done.

The marketcap is currently 40 million. I think it's extremely undervalued, but $ 8 would be a Marketcap of more than 16 billion. I find it very difficult. I believe that in December when the platform is launched SAFEX Marketcap can reach up to 1 billion if the developers are not as soft as they were now at the launch of the wallet and do a good job of disclosure.

So you're thinking maybe someday like $1-$2?

I think they should take the time that they need. I hope that BAT will be a successful project, so I dont worry about the currant situation.

Oh we are in agreement there. But I am talking about the long term. I'd love to hear that when they are finally ready to, they are going to do a big ass marketing blitz where you'll be seeing and hearing about BAT and the Brave browser everywhere. Like they'll be marketing the hell out of it. Making sure everyone and their dog knows about Brave browser and BAT. Imho, I see that as the only real way to make it take off.

Itbit... no Texas!?
by

on 08/08/2017, 07:05:11 UTC
Just tried to sign up over at itbit, to get away from coinbase and their high fees. But wait! I can't because for some reason, they don't like Texas. Below is a screenshot of this. So can anyone here recommend me a good place to buy bitcoin that:

1. Has low fees. Coinbase is too expensive

2. Is based in the United States

3. Will freakin' accept us Texans

I could probably overlook it, if they are not based in the U.S. As long as they have a very good reputation.

Thanks!

I really want to know what their plan is for competing in the web browser space.

I'd like to see them do a LOT of advertising. They've certainly got the money to do it. I'd like to see them really let everyone know that the brave browser exists.

Cause the browser scene is tough. You've got the likes of Chrome, Edge, and Firefox to compete with. And if that isn't enough, Opera is still out there as a fine web browser. So I really wanna know how they plan to make their place in with those top dogs.

Lets be honest if they can't muscle their way in, BAT isn't going anywhere. How they gonna do it? And when?

So this is a valid question, I'm not missing some basic concept here?

How do you guys handle this? Have you ever made a good trade where you were well into the profit, only to have your gains minimized by something like this?

Scaling question
by

on 05/08/2017, 04:06:58 UTC
Bit of a newb question here, but it has to do with selling my altcoins. So I bought Ethereum when it was $200, and now I want to sell it. Make a nice little profit there.

But wait! Now bitcoin has gone up to $3100. When I bought the ETH, Bitcoin was only at about $2500.

Am I losing anything? Am I gaining anything? Or has nothing changed? This one is a bit of a mind bender for me.

Question: Why the need for this other coin? I'm no programmer but, couldn't they alter bitcoin itself to be able to keep up with the newer demands?

Trezor vs some random hard drive?
by
photonfanatic
on 03/08/2017, 02:09:10 UTC
What is the difference between storing your coin on a trezor, vs some random hard drive that you unplug from your computer? I currently store on a trezor, but after talking to a friend I'm beginning to wonder if it was necessary. IE, as waste of money. My buddy just have a cheap USB Hard drive enclosure, and when he installed all his wallets, he simply told them to install to that hard drive. Which he leaves unplugged from the computer, unless he's actually moving some money around for whatever reason. So it always just stays unplugged, just like my trezor.

What is the difference? Why buy a Trezor when you can do this? Hell why even go that far? Why not just use a USB flash drive that you already have lying around? And just leave it unplugged when you're not moving money around.

According to the general channel on their slack, release date is august 5th. Sounds like an interesting coin, I think I'll wait till the wallet comes out before I buy.

Is there any way I can get an invite to their slack? Also its pretty cheap right now. Waiting for the wallet release may turn out to be a good way to have to buy for a higher price.

I am new to cryptos and just wondering what all of you predict for price action at the various milestones?  Aug 5th wallet goes live; November Chille exchange goes live.  Can this coin hit $0.10 when Chille goes live?

I don't think anyone can tell you that. If it were a stock I'd say that it will go up every time there is something big released, like the wallet or chille. But nobody can say how much, or how long it will stay up. Could go up a lot, and stay up. Then again, it may not even move. If you'd like my hunch, I'd say it will see something of a small bump up in price when the wallet comes out, and a somewhat larger bump when chille comes out for public alpha testing. Same thing for public beta. But another small bump up before that, when they announce that they're going to start doing their in house testing of the beta.

Then when the goods exchange app is finally available for download, a large price increase. But most people will probably say that. And that may not happen for... who knows how long. Wish I knew.

I'm guessing upon releasing chille, it will shoot up.

Anyone have any kind of guess as to when chille alpha will begin public testing? On that date, I'd hazard a guess that we'll see some kind of notable price increase.

Also, I agree about the chart. Very interesting what is going on there. Its clear even to me a newb, that something is up. Its behaving strangely to my newb eyes. Just hovering in one area and having very little change. Someone clearly wants the price to stay where it is, but why? If it sees another big pump like it did before, will their buy and sell walls even hold? Or maybe that is the plan, to draw more people into buying it so when the wall finally breaks, it goes up even higher.
