The ones who kept saying stick in with TH they are working on it.  Believing their word without any proof should be ashamed if you made anyone wait past 45 days on paypal.  And caused even a few to lose cash.

I think it goes without saying that everyone on this forum is responsible only for their own financials. It is said in so many instances that you should not invest in BTC or mining unless you are ready to lose that amount you are investing.

Just my 5 euro cents.

dd if=/dev/sd?? of=/backup.img

Then copy the image to a usb stick, there is your backup  Grin

Or in windows google "dd for windows"

To copy the backup to an sd card, reverse the if and of (input file, output file)

(edit: to locate where your SD-card is mounted, use "df")

Doesn´t your TV have a HDMI input. Use that as a monitor. I bet your image just doesn´t boot up.

Going to re-ask my question here, as I am unsuccessful in the US thread:

I received my starter kit today from MBP with the v2.3 M-board, and wired everything up correctly. The unit did NOT come with an SD card, and I had to download this image and load it to an 8GB microSD with adapter: https://www.dropbox.com/s/zjk90fjra5bwhnd/rPi_V2.img

1) put it in, powered up, and tried to connect to the default ip via chrome, IE, and PUTTY SSH. no luck
2) powered down, and added to the cmdline.txt file:     ip=192.168.1.249     (supposedly the default)
2a) re-tried step 1. chrome and IE quickly return "could not connect" errors, and SSH results in "connection refused"
3) repeat step 2 with 192.168.1.240 in case of IP conflicts. result is same as step 2a

I have no monitor/keyboard at my disposal, so i cant just set up a workstation at my unit. can someone confirm if the image i used is the issue, or point me in a direction of a different image for a v2.3 m-board?

This is racking my brain, keeping me up. I wont be able to try any tweaked methods until tomorrow after work, which means I just missed out on 24hrs of mining because a $5 SD card was not included with my unit.

Usually when I have had those issues the problem has been with the SD-card type. RPi doesn´t work well with all SD-cards.

PS: Please leave Knightlife out of this. He only knows what he saw at TH. He has tried to be helpfull and share what he could in many ways to help all of us,,,even posting an equipment list of what we would need to set up the klondikes with... he didnt have to do that. Yes he has tried to remain positive and hopefull like many, the reality is, he may stand to loose a lot more than most here. And as far as his ebay hosting operations, thats his business! ok Smiley

Minerman i have respect for you.  But it is hard to leave him out being the messanger/vouching for chips, and seeing office.  Here are some examples of things that make me think he should tied in with this both are direct quotes, and are things other then just vouching..  These are 2 of many

1)Everyone that is on the fence about this: don't listen to these guys who say that we should all get refunds immediately. Not only would it cause great problems for TH, more importantly, it will harm everyone else who is waiting patiently for their boards.

2)I'll be picking up my boards in person at TH when they are ready. I can take some extra pics when I'm there.  Smiley

Number 2 picking up in person..... is a pretty big thing.  He is going to pick up (assuming they make them) but he cant go there now and say hey whats up?  What are you guys working on?

The fact he has not went back to try to talk to them speaks volumes, after all his pro TH items.

I don´t get the logic here.

Why won´t you take the time to go meet TH yourself?

A lot of complaining about others and you yourself aren´t willing to sacrifice your time.

Batch 2 is now officially open. Check out the OP.

The new pricing is this:

Drillbit 8 Board - $425
Drillbit Thumb - $130
Drillbit Miniplane - $40

Let's fill this one quickly and get those chips.

Any chance of a paypal button as per last time?

I dont have the btc around atm?

I am in the same boat, I don't mind moving cash into bitcoin, but it sadly takes time to do so. I'm looking at about next week with coinbase. I certainly want to reserve 1 thumb, 4 drill bit boards, and 1 miniplane. I've started the cash to bitcoin process and really hope they don't sell out! I agree that this is as good a time as any to learn how to buy bitcoin, but would hate to get burned!

Localbitcoin.com is very good.  really nice people selling and buying bitcoin using escrow.  Try it. you might like it Smiley

It´s localbitcoins.com Smiley .. works well, have tried it.
