2K more short contracts opened this weekend alone and the price isn't going down.

I see on the chart that both longs and shorts are increasing. It only means more people are starting to play the market. They bet both ways.

14,142.33 BTC shorts lol, gl with that

Should look at the short and long value in swaps. So much more money put into longs. People are bullish, they know good stuff is coming for bitcoin soonish.  Grin

I think we are all aware the price has fallen 76% from the ATH.

I mean prove we are still in a bear market.

It is inherently impossible to prove anything that's based on pure speculation and public opinion.

eg. You can't prove it's a bull market either.

Actually yes, more bids than asks, price is going up, and indicators are going up

So it's either a trap and the large sells are coming soon or its a trend reversal and we're up from here

My bet is on the later

It can still retrace a little back to 330$. But then blow with full force through 400$ ! Grin

Re: Abandon BTC

You still have time to abandon BTC and put your wealth on more advanced cryptos. The waves are getting weaker and weaker while the market is slowly eating itself.

Adding new wealth to the bitcoin ecosystem, rewards miners for wasting energy without giving anything useful to the network. It's no secret that adding more wealth to the bitcoin ecosystem, only fuels this idiotic arms race of bitcoin mining.
Bitcoin is strongly impractical because of it's immature use of resources and it's inability to support stability. You have to be religious about bitcoin while the world of finance is a new place to you, if you can't see the importance of these impracticalities.
The Winklevoss twins may be great rowers, and Draper may be a good friend to Jurvetson, but their judgement about bitcoin is childish at best.

The future is not in bitcoin, but in the general idea of open sourced monetary systems. There needs to be a lot more advancements before cryptocurrencies would be practical on a larger scale. The current phase of development is in it's end. Right now would be the right time to jump off this train and jump onto something newer and better, that has solved some problems that plague bitcoin.
Don't ask me on what crypto to buy, because I don't want this thread to become a trollfest. Do your own research while keeping the flaws of bitcoin in mind.

Don't get caught on a sinking ship, just because you're emotionally attached to your investment. It's a common flaw for novice investors to become emotionally attached to the source of their first winnings.

If you reply to this thread, then I would kindly ask you to express yourself in a calm and constructive manner. Thank you!

Very true. Also novice investors have no clue about the markets, they are not traders. You actually need many months playing markets to get the hang of it.

On the other hand the best lessons in life are painful.

So who is taking another loan to save bitcoin and get more cheap coins?  Cheesy

Re: How many real warriors are here?

Most are here exactly because they want to get rich without doing any work. To the majority of people here, the "I'm here because I love the technology of bitcoin!" excuse is just a tool to hide their simple greed. That same majority understands very little about the technical aspects of bitcoin. Their knowledge ends with installing bitcoin-qt to their windows machines and looking at bitcoinwisdom. At least that's been my experience with the majority of this forums community.
It's a nice gesture, that you're trying to boost others morale though.

Buying bitcoin is simply not enough. You should also stare at bitcoinwisdom charts for minimum 8h a day and spread the word around the web.

Getting rich with bitcoin is a full-time job. Many people forgot that and hence the downward trend.

k this is bottom....

If you are the market manipulator and dumper you can say this, otherwise you are just guessing. Really.

welcome to the speculation sub-forum

Yea that is true, but just make sure that it is not about what we want, but what they want. And any observation is true as the oposite one.

If they want bounce they will market buy 2k and set bid walls, if they want to reject bounce after 15% drop in 24h, they will set walls to prevent it. They are smart. Cause they know what we think and how we behave, but we don't know how they think and what is their plan - but we know what is their end goal (but that doesn't help us much as it looks like).

Is "their" end goal BTC/USD @ 0$ or accumulate as many as possible( if the latter one , than you wouldn´t have much to worry about((only if you´re not in a leveraged position of course))  Cheesy )

Their end goal is to milk you and other believers in 10k bubbles stories.

They are in it for profit and dumping bitcoin on you for over 1k$ was way overpriced with what bitcoin offers today.

EDIT: Buy bitcoin for 10$, pump it, market it as digital gold and internet of internet, dump for 1000$ to the chinese

Paypal(Ebay), Expedia, Square, Dell, Dish, Overstock..

If people don't see what's coming they deserve to lose money

All of them using bitpay/coinbase which immediately dump them coins. And people do not buy those bitcoins back I guess.

This recent bulltrap seems not to work, not much fresh fiat to be dumped on.

I think it is time to move to the next stage and introduce some FUD.

I am sure China's officials have something interesting to say about bitcoin shady practices.
Also those hundreds of thousands coins from mt gox or silk road bust can surely find a way back to the ecosystem.
Maybe the EFT will get postponed again?

Not crossed 450$. I'm calling it- bulltrap and short squeeze.

This is not paypal integration per se but something much much less. Comparable with that braintree news?

But people will buy on the news after pump as usual so we will not see below 400$ for a while.  Sad

Just quoting myself since finally made the right call. And before other bears Grin

So what?  This thing has NOT played out and maybe you called one event correctly (regarding the $450-ish), so which way are we going on a longer term scale, do you have an outline of a plan that we can use as a guide.. ?

There needs to be some real blood before the trend can change. But it can take another weeks or months.

Until now I did not expect that bitcoin will suddenly start getting pumps after 'news' like most shitcoins. This means not many people really buying and those screwed over the months are either waiting or said fuck it.

I did not make any money on that pump but luckily did not short after that big dump like some newbies Wink

A few minutes before the rally started nearly all the bids on Bitstamp down to 360 were removed within in a second. Also quite a lot of asks were removed, but far less than bids. I switched over to the trading PC and by then everything was back to normal. Did anyone else catch that? I wonder what that was all about, there were literally only a few dozen coins worth of bids down to 360, basically just a long flat green line (on bitcoinity.org). A bug maybe? But would be a weird coincidence because it happened right before that rally.

About the rally itself: I kinda feel that this was orchestrated by a single entity, probably in order to induce a short squeeze. I doubt very much that this was "organic" buying by people who suddenly all decided to buy in unison. Or maybe I'm wrong and it was caused by a bunch of people buying because of the paypal news, but I doubt it...

I followed the rally early on and decided @ about $415 that someone was trying to squeeze those 11000 shorts out. So I went "picking up pennies in front of the steamroller" - I bought into the askwalls, then set up my own askwalls at a slighty higher price. Worked out well, but I would have been in trouble if the price had reversed suddenly. Bids were very thin, so I wouldn't have been able to sell the coins back at the price I bought them at. Was probably not a good idea, even though I made some profit.

Similar to my own ideas: I don't think it was "organic" either, in the sense of buying pressure slowly building up, then being released. Looked like a single entity to me as well, only question is: why? Seems by buying gradually, you could minimize slippage, so assuming the original assumption (one entity driving this one) is right, I can see two reasons to buy it all at once, across exchanges: to "make a point" for the bulls, or to squeeze shorts. The latter didn't seem to work (so far), however, judging by the finex stats.

I will tell you why. Now we will stay in this range for some time so the whales can distribute more coins to some bulls thinking we gonna go above 450$ and stay there (which would mean breaking  downtrend that was going for months). This is very bad because price will still go down after all but we gonna have another level of resistance later on on the way up. F*ck you whales, could have dumped some more to retest previous lows first and then rebound with this news.

China will dump on the news or at least not care enough to buy at those prices.

Still no idea why litecoin is getting pumped, maybe because it was a planned pump and dump for both coins?

Bitcoin is good for buying weed anonymously.

And that's all there is.

Nothing has changed since the start of the bubble, no other killer apps.

why are you even bothering to be here and post this then?  Huh

Just stating the facts.

Did it achieve any success in other fields like remittances people mention? Not even the Chinese use it anymore to evade capital controls, too cumbersome and they got easier ways.

Still so much potential in bitcoin. Maybe next year we gonna see a breakthrough. Not just another merchant adding it to a long list of payment options so early adopters can indirectly dump it.
