Why should  diff  rise after the halving ?
I think that many of the miners turned off,  if the BTC  price stays the same or decreases.

Same thoughts here! Many old running S3 + S5 are going to be shut-down after the halving and the diff will stay or decrease a little for some time. Hopefully the bitcoin price keeps on rising instead!

However, as people begin replacing S7's with S9's, those S7's will be sold to people turning off S3/S5...

Yea with the halvening happening a month from now, these are too highly priced to be taken seriously.  I'll just hobble along with my 2.3 S7's and shake my head at the people plunking down thousands for this new hardware.

I'm running a bitcoin classic wallet, and across the top it says

WARNING: abnormally high number of blocks generated

I've never seen that before.  You guys seeing this?

Could it be from the 300 PH that was just added recently to the network?  We went from 1.3 EH to 1.6 EH it seems overnight.

Loving the contest and this pool's community of bitcoin fanatics!

Run into a little problem with the web stats, though.  Been mining straight to a BTC address but want to use more of kano-san's stats and stuff that's available.  I setup an account, made sure all is (apparently) correct re username, same btc address, and generate an API, but I don't see any hash coming from my machine to the pool - everything shows zero on any stat page...  Tongue

I must be missing something easy...  Anyone else see this when setting up your account after mining to an address??

EDIT - Hold on, I setup an account while sitting here at work, but my miner is still mining straight to my BTC address...  I'll bet that is the issue - sorry for clogging up the thread, back to your normally scheduled mining.

Have you logged into your account and checked your workers page?  If they're actively hashing, you should see something there at least.  I think it takes a bit for the stats to update when you're just starting though.

Edit - Sheesh, helps to refresh before commenting on another topic...

These long blocks are really starting to chip away at our luck.  I with bitmain would hurry up and send me a replacement board so I can solve one with my mighty 9.4 TH!

For those who had their 5Nd at the start of January are still on track for one heck of a good month.

Yea, I'm glad I gave up on slush back in December and made kano my pool for life.  I'd prefer supporting the people who make the software more than china who just wants to suck up the coins.

So having removed my bad hash board, and noticing that one of the heatsinks has detached itself, which explains why the board is fubar'd does bitmain really need me to ship this board back since it's going to cost me close to $100 to ship to china?

So I have to re-try getting a board RMA'd to bitmain.  I bought a brand new PSU to try to power that board up hoping I was using a bad psu and there was still no go.  For those of you who have fully opened their S7, what is the easiest method to getting the top off so I can remove the problematic board?  I assume the top comes off because you can't simply slide the board out of the casing.

Remove the rectangular plate behind the fan, boards will slide out. But I would contact Bitmain before opening the miner.

Just remove the plate behind the fan and they do slide out?  What about the piece sticking above the top of the miner where the pci-e cables are connected?  That's not part of the hash board?

Yup, just removing the plate behind the fan will do. That plate is holding the boards in place.

Cool, I'll try removing it tonight.  Bitmain already agreed to 'test' the board at their facility in china.  Sucks I have to send it there, but the 3 TH hash I get from a $1600 miner really blows.

So....how hard is it to remove a hash board from this bad boy?  I have an RMA with bitmain and I need to remove one of the boards to ship to China to have it looked at.  At least the other two boards are hashing me around 3 TB so I'm not dead in the water.  Doesn't look like the heat sinks are having issues since it was fine for about 24 hours when I initially plugged it in and then the board just stopped hashing completely.  But I'll know more when I pull it out.

You are asking people to point their mining hardware to your pool.  If your pool hits a block, that coin goes into your pool's wallet.  Effectively, you are responsible and holding on to 25BTC that belong to the community.

What's to stop you from taking those coins and running?  It's certainly been done before (hence the reference to Nexious).  You are a brand new account.  People want some measure of security that you aren't going to screw them.  Escrowing that 25 coins is a way to provide people with that security.

Thanks for making your point, it's clear but i'm not runner I am learner! Trust will always grow and is two sides...

Yea, famous words also spoken by Nexious who has not been back to these forums since running off with 25 btc in rewards...

is there a read a.k.a guide on what this bare minimum is?
Ive played with the calculators and with my local kilowatt hour at .14 its calculating a $2800 profit annually per S7. Of course thats a "perfect world" scenario and in no way guarantees anything, but still keeps me interested and wanting to join the "rat race" for bitcoins.
But before spending actually $ on hardware, what do I need to know?

No idea where you get a $2800 annual profit per miner.  At .14/KWh you're playing a losing game.  Every 2 weeks difficulty rises and that lowers profit even more.

Yay, finally got my reply from bitmain on my bad miner and have permission to finally open it up to troubleshoot it.  And they also said try pointing to another pool...pfft, my other one, batch 3 is mining here just fine with no issues.  Figures that the newest miner that uses more power, and provides less hash has problems.  So my weekend will be troubleshooting my miner to hopefully get it back up to full speed here.
