Re: Bogus locator in getheaders (test data wanted)
by

I'm sorry I was not yet able to provide the data. It would take me little more time to get to this again, but I can see Greg published a proposal and also implemented a fix that was already merged into bitcoin core. Thus it feels not so important any more to provide the data as the problem, if there was one, has been solved.

Thank you Greg for your time you put into this.

I will thus only try to provide the data later if someone requests it again.

FYI this was fixed in this PR

and https://www.coinvault.io/ is a multi coin hd wallet but I don't think it can help you to convert like this. actually no one can do this.

I agree I was actually answering the "similar to blockchain.info" question.

Re: how can you tell which wallets are cryptocurrency exchange wallets?
by
poblico
on 26/05/2016, 22:32:24 UTC
When exchanging coins you HAVE to put all your coins in a pool with other people and get "credit" of amount, this is so you can transfer ownership of the coins in exchange for ownership of other coins. (It's also the reason when an exchange gets hacked every body are screwed)

So all exchanges must have a wallet with all funds in one shared pool right? (shapeshift connects to existing exchanges)

Apart for the typical client wallet where you own your keys there are also hybrid wallets where the user controls the keys like coinomi or coinvault.io (for alt coins) the wallet service will normally advertise that.

I'd like to check interest about enabling Terracoin as a sidechain, to accept pegged transaction from bitcoin.
Effectively to enable TRC to add transactions form another blockchain.

If possible there will then be two types of transactions on Terracoin regular and those which are imported (those can be send back to btc)
I am just getting familiarized with sidechains however I think its a promising idea.

SHA-256 algo again,shit!

SHA-256 is great, as it allows all the folks that got outflanked mining BTC to have something else that might or might not be profitable to mine with their obsolete sha asics.

+1 on that maybe my 60GH BFL will come to some good use.

C# is not generally a good language of choice especially for " bitcoiners ".There exist a open source community on Github as linked by SFR10 and initiated by SparkedDev.The group on Gh is dedicated for bitcoin related scripts either casino or gambling stuff. If you have a descent Gh profile ,sparkeddev shall accept you.

What?? C# is an excellent choice of language, extremely mature and feature rich.
Ah and now its open source!!!

ok it may not be popular amongst bitcoiners but to say it's not a generally good choice is nonsense, choice very much depends on requirements.

I contacted the creator of this Terracoin Android Wallet and he said he would be happy to help us with android development!

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.vasilkoff.terracoinwallet

Good stuff, is the current version "up to date" and functional?

You can also use https://www.coinvault.io/ (I am the founder) to store TRC.
I'll be very quick to update when we release the new desktop wallet.

At the risk of Cryptopia being branded as supporters of Terrarism... We'll list TRC for the DOT you've raised so far; I'm gonna throw in a free tipping slot for the hell of it, thanks guys for your interest in our site.

No problem!  I opened a support ticket on Cryptopia that is still showing as new.  You can close that ticket, though, in that ticket I did ask if you would rather we wait till the new wallet is out, or just add now?  We are not sure when the new wallet will be released but we are trying for a month from now.

Our current total of DOT is 4,519,119.

How do we accept this offer?  Just put in the vote?

If the updated wallet is a hard fork it probably better to wait I'd say, even though however they may be quick in updating the new wallet.
We need 5 mil DOT to register right?

1. SHA-256 Algorithm
2. 42 Million coins (I don't think this should ever change)
3. 20 TRC per block
4. Merge mining

These are areas up for immediate discussion which hopefully we can agree on in a week.  I want to have a clear path for the developer(s) in a week.

1. Difficulty recalculation at 540 blocks.  Up/Down?
2. Reward halving at 1050000 blocks.  Up/Down?
3. Blocks generated every 2 minutes?  Up/Down?

I am not trying to disregard anyone's input, and I want more input like we have been getting.

I just feel like we need to stop the bleeding before the patient dies.
Heres my opinion for everything.

I'm all for keeping algo SHA-256 with Bitcoin block halving coming some miners might be interested in moving to another coin if we can get some value on TRC they might make the move.

42 Millions coins I agree shouldn't change.

20 TRC per block another thing that shouldn't change with the exception of block halving.

Merge Mining...........I need to do more research on this before I can give opinion .

Difficulty Recalculation....I think maybe we should be looking into another coins retarget strategy over the last two years MANY options have popped up.

Reward Halving Keep as is once every ~4 years.

Block Generation keep @ every 2 min.

Yeah agree we have options, there are many good advances in retargeting like DS from dogecoin or KGW from auroracoin.

This detail is very important for terracoin because we use SHA-256 so a miner can effectively:
  • point a lot of hash power to make lots of coins, quick re targeting will prevent that
  • when the miner leaves the target will be so high it will take long time to mine a block

I will set up a poll about merge mining!

I was under the impression that merge mining was already decided. Changing this due to one or two persons not understanding how merge mining works does not set a good president, plus people are not likely to vote for something they do not understand.

I have mined TRC for a long time now, but it has remained stagnant due to a lack of bringing anything new to the crypto table - it just doesn't have anything to entice miners to it. Enabling merge mining will change this. Personally, I want this coin to grow, but if it stays the same - that's OK too, but it will remain stagnant in it's current form unless merge mining is enabled.

I am totally with you on this p3yot33at3r

You can't please everyone, but you can make the coin useful and enticing again. Merge mining will bring hundreds or thousands of new and old users back in to the TRC blockchain.

By the way everyone, logo contest thread has been created here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1375662.0

Take a look and give it a crack if you're feeling artistic  Cool

I see no reason not to add merged mining this just opens the TRC for additional miners to contribute.

Donate DOT to this address to get TRC on Cryptopia - 1N5qY9gqYSeoPwTcdm2zcRZebdMMTyBZrx - We are at 55615.  We will be straight up just buying our way onto Cryptopia when we have 5 million DOT.

Would you be willing to provide your username on cryptopia for direct transfer? (if not I'll just do a withdraw)

What I suggest is to firstly implement a better difficulty adjust algorithm to protect the chain from potential threat of malicious mining power.
If we can decide the proper algorithm, we can go toward the direction to implement it.

However, I don't like the idea to increase the block size as it's not the necessary thing for Terracoin. It don't need to be popular but it should be secured.

Totally agree, what algorithms change best candidates come to mind? we'll have to merge from existing coins I guess.
Also agree no need to increase block size if it comes to that we'll be in a much better place I guess.
