Re: How to use headless Pi3 bitcoin node over ethernet on windows GUI wallet
by

This user seems to have done what I was thinking on proposing you (pruning), which is not the definite solution but seems to be quite near to what you're asking: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3180631.msg45680078#msg45680078

By configure with -prune=550 and -connect=xxx.xxx.xxx to limit bitcoin-qt connect to my local live node with minimum space consumption. Though, it still take up ~700MB space.

Enjoying the wild ride for the past week guys? I wonder if user activity at the site increases with price just the same way google trends does. Apparently even avocado prices are rising the way Bitcoin is (the chart pattern hehe), I'll share the article here: https://www.inc.com/eric-mack/the-price-of-this-shockingly-boring-item-mirrors-bitcoin-in-weirdest-way.html

I'll bet BitDice charts might outperform BTC price;)
I can finally sell my avocados! Cheesy

Seriously though. Is there any way to change from the default way of displaying amounts to Bitcoin?

Re: Netflix is gonna film documentary about crypto
by

on 28/06/2019, 14:51:41 UTC
As far as I know, the documentary will be on alts, but still I would consider this a welcoming news for crypto in general. And the timing is just about right, I mean crypto specially bitcoin is hugging the limelight now and this kind of publicity will be very good overall. So good job to Netflix for releasing this documentary.
That's something different. But yes, still good news: it will help getting the word out on how the crypto world is.

Well, looks like it was when opening the site from the gmail app. Then it stays within the app. If I open it in Chrome, it worked fine.
To open links directly on Chrome instead:

  • Open the Gmail app
  • In the left menu, open the Settings
  • Click on "General Settings"
  • Disable "Open web links on Gmail"

Back online - everything seems okay and working flawlessly.

BTW anyone completed address validation process? I am still having issues.
Do they require address validation? AFAIK they only require ID verification.

For some of those banks/e-money issuers NOT accepting anything to do with crypto - maybe seeing the referral URL for the signup (noticing you registered from this thread) will trigger enhanced AML measures?

Would be a really economical way to detect such behavior and with near-zero rate of false positives.

Re: So it is happening..facebook coin Libra

So when compared to bitcoin, if it is pegged to the various currencies, I see 'no way' that it can be used as a store of value like Bitcoin.
If it's going to be a stablecoin, I'd worry more about the future stablecoin projects (not so much about currently successful ones though - they already have a userbase)

That's unless they're going to do strict KYC, in which case it's probably going to have much less impact on other stablecoins. Don't see the whole stablecoin userbase following a Facebook KYC anytime soon.

Anyone had experience with Cloudbet? Its admin has quite positive trust ratings.

I wasn't convinced last time I had a look at them. However it seems they've passed the test of time.

We will of course get free advertising for other blockchains. However I'm unsure if it will actually reflect positively on prices.

It's confirmed. Seems they bundle transactions and send to many addresses at once to automate the process and save on fees.

Each address on the right side of your link has received the amount specified next to them.

wow Bitvest and 777coin are so old, about 8 years of action!
I wonder why do they have so little trust score though, even though they are proven to be safe and trusted.
Some of them are more widely promoted than others, so people have had more chances to have a look at them.

But I also noticed many of the good ones on this list missing positive trust.

Re: Recovering bip39 seed

What did you use to recover the seed? https://iancoleman.io/bip39/ is a web-based solution, and Electrum another alternative.

Is the seed still in your Nano S? https://support.ledger.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000609933-Lost-device-PIN-code-or-recovery-phrase

Please note entering your seed anywhere but in your device you will basically remove all the security from it.

Re: Trust/ Flag of casino/dice sites' owners
by

There are some information that needs to be revised such as:
1. Kingdice owner is not Kingdice anymore since it was bought by wetsuit (owner of freebitcoin). Reference: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1637134.msg20064003#msg20064003
2. Owner/Admin of Bitsler can be replaced by Baryom which is more active in the forum.
3. SWCpoker is not opened in 2018, 2018 is just the new version/update to 3.0 of SWCpoker. I'm not quite sure when it was opened for the first time but it can be earlier than other sites as they were formerly known as Sealswithclub.

Didn't know wetsuit bought KingDice. Hadn't really tested it, will register now.

And yes, I recall playing on SealsWithClubs ages ago. 2011 maybe? https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=40077.0

Well, updating. They answered in support chat that remaining funds will be transferred within few business days. I wouldn't say that there were a lot of big transfers. Rather many small transfers 100-200 Eur and few bigger 1000-2000 Eur.
Take into account most people use (most of) these accounts for small day-to-day payments, so a Bitcoin trader can be spot quite easily.

At the end of the day it's a numbers game. And if you're dealing with over a few thousands it's quite likely your account will be reviewed.

Re: How to accept BTC directly and integrate into an e-commerce site?
by
poordeveloper
on 13/06/2019, 11:23:06 UTC
The answer is XPUB. That way the only thing you store on your server is the minimal information to allow your code to create new addresses.

In case you get hacked, you would at most lose the list of addresses of that XPUB - never the funds.

You can use this code as starting point or as tools to generate lists of addresses from your XPUB:

https://github.com/dan-da/hd-wallet-derive
https://github.com/dan-da/hd-wallet-addrs

Then you only need to monitor transactions to those addresses which is pretty simple if you use an API (you don't even need to run any software on your server).

If you really want to also have control on the validation of funds, you'll need a Full Bitcoin Node.
