[WTS] Used 20ft mining container for 3500EUR
by
powerminingfarm
on 06/07/2020, 09:42:07 UTC
Hello!

Want to sell used 20ft mining container.

20ft container as a base;
2x 2.5kW fans;
Around 50 double electrical outlets;
Electrical distribution box with +- 50 20A fuses;
Shelves;
Side grills (resistant to water);
Filters at the air input side;
Network - Mikrotik LTE router + 4* Mikrotik 24 port switches, according amount of LAN cables;
Alarm system.

Limiting factor regarding capacity is cooling, therefore maximum amount of devices you can place shouldn't / can't exceed around 100kW of power.
Therefore you can put 100kW worth of GPU rigs, ASICs or a mix of them.

Price: 3500EUR + VAT
The manufacturing cost (parts + labour) was more than 20k EUR.

Here is a video as well.

You can take a look at shipping container solutions.

Our 40ft model (not on the website at the moment) would fit around 400 ASICs.

We are using the same type of louvre type grills that are used in commercial building ventilation systems, therefore water from rain doesn't get in.

Here you can see the side ventilation grills cross section - should make everything clear.

But question is spot on, thanks!  Wink

Thanks. What is maximum designed power consumption by that GPU container?

Well, it depends on what GPU rack size you prefer and also the type of cards that are put in. For example, you could put 8 1080ti's per rack and stack 96 racks together, meaning that you get 8*96=768 cards for which the very maximum (120%) capacity is approximately 259 W, resulting in a cumulative maximum power consumption of around 200 kW

Currently we are providing mining hosting service in our containers - so ROI calculation in this case depends on the terms you give to your hosting clients Wink

The price for the MMU itself starts from 20k EUR + options.
The ROI when you would pack the container with miners yourself would greatly variate.
For example - if one would place 160 L3+ and would have 0.15$ electricity price - the mining process would actually provide huge losses to the miner.
However, if packed with S9s / Avalon 841s / Z9 with cheap (>0.05$) electricity - the financial situation looks way better.

Just took some new pictures from one of the hosting containers:

We are based in Rīga, Latvija, however, our mining equipment lies in an undisclosed location  Wink
Nonetheless, we wanted to share some information about our mining containers (aka Mobile Mining Units) that we are proud to say we built ourselves.

Here are some pictures of our newest container:

Challenges - Obviously, the biggest challenge, as for most of the miners is finding the most cost-minimizing electricity solution
Also, some of the miners might stop working, but that can be dealt with rather quickly thanks to our monitoring system

Re: Can I get money from mining?
by
powerminingfarm
on 26/06/2018, 13:54:41 UTC
It depends! The question is whether your revenues from mining will be larger than hosting costs. If you have a strong initial investment and are looking for some steady(er) income, you definitely could start mining but keep in mind that you are entering in a bear market, which is somewhat saturated with miners already. People renting planes full of GPUs to reduce transportation costs for instance.

If you really want to, you'll have to decide which coin to mine and which would generally be the one you see growing in value in the future. Look at GPU prices, their hashing power, and electricity consumption / costs. There are many different ways to do mining nowadays - not only the traditional setting up a rig at home, but also cloud mining or paying a fee for a company to host ASIC miners and so on. Look into it!

Here is an article our company wrote a few weeks back if you are interested, looking at the actual numbers of doing mining in 2018: https://medium.com/@power_mining/how-advantageous-is-the-power-mining-hosting-service-compared-to-mining-at-home-94c7db4cae95
