I know but one of my trading rules is "don't be greedy" I made 30% on that trade and I went to bed. Of course I could have waited but I prefer small steps and relaxing sleep time. What went up fast could have gone down equally as fast.

when x11 came out it was true thats it was ~40% cooler than scrypt, but since then an improved miner was released and it's now more like 10-20% cooler only.

If you're on 14.4 drivers and don't want the hassle of going to 14.6, just download this guys BIN file (I had to modify the BIN filename from 8192 to 8191 as that's the TC I use). I've got a 20% boost overall:

I pulled it out after I started having issues, and I have used it before on this rig for much longer periods of time with no issues.  PSU could be bad,  but it looks/sounds/smells ok.

Go to Start Menu > Control Panel > System > Device Manager > and expand 'Display adapters'.

Right click the display adapter that corresponds to a Radeon 280X and click 'Update Driver Software...'

Click 'Browse my computer for driver software'.

Click 'Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer'.

Click 'Have Disk...'.

Paste the following path into the 'Copy manufacturer's files from:' box:

C:\AMD\Support\14-4-win7-win8-win8.1-64-dd-ccc-whql\Packages\Drivers\Display\WB6A_INF

Click 'OK'.

Select 'AMD Radeon HD 7800 [or 280] Series'.

Click 'Next'.

Your screen will flicker while the driver is installed. This may take a while.

Eventually you will see 'Windows has successfully updated your driver software'.

Click 'Close'.

Hmm, glad that it worked for you guys. I tried that both with lasys and the "14.6fixed" miners,  didn't see an increase on my 7950s though.

I think that it might be a problem with win8.1 and the 14.4 drivers because I noticed that I actually lost about . 1Mh per card after "upgrading" from win8 to 8.1 and running 14.4 modded driver (I have six cards) and lazys miner like I had been.

I attempted to follow along from the original post and made this for the "14.6-Beta-V1.0-Windows-May23" download that you can grab currently from AMD. I only made 2 .infs that replaced the two in \Packages\Drivers\Display\WB6A_INF.

I initially tried it without cleaning out the files and it failed. I would recommend following the OP's post on clearing out the files here: https://litecointalk.org/index.php?topic=11001.msg79830#msg79830

I installed the same way as suggested in that post. I installed with fewer than 3 cards installed at the time. Afterwards I hooked the rest of them up and finally had 6 cards (r9 270s on Windows 8.1) working. I needed the 14.6 drivers as this miner: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=658411 is optimized for them and now my r9 270s are hashing ~2.5-2.7 Mh/s on x11mod kernel.
