Re: Legalization of drugs?

Legalizing drug will put a big impact in the safety of many people. Its not good if there are a lot of drug addicts tgat are roaming around. For me i don't want drugs to be legalized.

This would not happen at all. Portugal for example decriminalised all street drugs over 20yrs ago and now they have reduced heroin addiction in its population by over 50%.   crime did not increase. .  There is more information available for people who want to take drugs so its safer.

and instead of criminalising those who are caught with hard drugs they are offered treatment programs.

The system works very well.

Yesterday I've noticed nice hashrate growth on my mobile. It increase from 15 to 30 hashes (100%) Grin Grin Grin Grin. Has anyone noticed the same phenomeon???

Yeah to be honest this is pretty intersting. So your hashrate did not just increase a little bit it doubled ! Did you maybe do an software update for your phone or the mining app ?

Richard explained in their last facebook live video they would update the mobile mining algorithm to increase the hashrate of lower power phones so it looks like they implemented that.

Since ETN is traded on kucoin there are some annoyances recently added to kucoin.

You must add 3 answers to 3 security questions on kucoin.

Then, when you withdraw your coins from kucoin you have to:
- input 2 factor authentication code
- input an answer for one of 3 security questions
- read your email and confirm the withdraw.

This kind of sucks, in order to do one thing you must do 4 other things (the three of them I've mentioned and of course the 4th is to login to kucoin.

I never saw anywhere else such thing. Everywhere it is two factor auth: login and then choose between: 2fa, email confirmation or a pin code.

remove all your security and let me steal your coins Smiley

Already stated in this thread statistics show that the majority (90%) of drug users have little or no consequences to the drug taking.

And lets not forget the most popular drug that most people use every weekend is Alcohol and the majority of Alcohol users do not become Alcoholics.

Dr Shulgin who rediscovered a drug in 1973 and called it MDMA never expected it to be such a massive party drug.  He saw its therapeutic value.

MDMA or Molly in its purest form and at the right dose is not dangerous but the media have demonized it.

however for the last 15 yrs it has been studied and has gone through extensive testing and control groups  and now the FDA have licensed it for treating PTSD.

2 sessions on MDMA with a therapist cures PTSD for life.

There are many other drugs that are 'illegal' and therefore 'dangerous' that have immense beneficial value for humans

Totally agree with you man, I was born in country with strong anti-propaganda about drugs. But when I started to travel around the world, I´ve met a lot of people smoking weed, taking MDMA and cocaine. And they were absolutely normal, may be, even more normal that the majority. They had good jobs and open mind. Also I've started to found more and more articles about positive effect of MDMA and where top CEO's from Silicon Valley use MDMA and cocaine, and all the things run smoothly.

thanks man

If anyone wants to know the real reason prohibition came into place it is fully explained in this book by Christopher Snowden.

news from Cryptopia :

Electroneum Update

The ETN (Electroneum) wallet on Cryptopia is now open for Deposits and Withdrawals again.

If you are depositing, please be aware that the deposit address HAS CHANGED (but not your payment ID).

PLEASE check your deposit page before depositing, as any deposits sent to the old address may face significant delays and at some point will stop being credited. Read on for more details.

What happened?

Cryptopia’s wallet has sent and received well over a million ETN transactions, which resulted in the wallet file growing to 4.6 GB. After restarting to apply an update, the wallet daemon refused to load this file, complaining it was “invalid”. We dug through the code and found there was a hardcoded limit on the wallet file size of 1 GB, inherited from Monero. It would happily save a wallet file this size but refused to load it.

Patching out that check makes it clear why this limit was there, the wallet daemon is very sluggish with a wallet file that large. It takes around 40 hours to load. Generating small transactions of 10,000 ETN takes several minutes. The time it takes to load this wallet and send transactions gets longer and longer as more and more transactions go into it.

Worse, generating larger transactions would cause the wallet daemon to segfault and crash, forcing us to spend 40+ hours loading the wallet file again.

We had the wallet running on a server with 128 GB of RAM and 24 cores (not underpowered) but the code was only taking advantage of one or two cores.

Unfortunately, the majority of our user’s ETN was stuck in this overloaded wallet. Even if it wasn’t crashing, rough calculations show that it might take several months to transfer all the ETN into a new wallet.

It’s important to note that none of our user’s funds were lost, just stuck in a misbehaving wallet.

How are we fixing this?

We have multiple developers working on this issue, developing multiple solutions. The two most promising solutions are:

#1. Improve the current code enough so that we can move all the funds out of the original wallet into a new one, faster than the current code allows. This would only be a short-term fix – the new wallet will eventually develop the same issues as the old wallet.

#2. Create a new enterprise grade wallet – one which is built from the ground up to deal with the massive number of transactions we are seeing. This will solve the long-term issues, but it will take many months before it’s fully tested, audited and operational.

We are making progress on both fronts.

What’s next?

We tracked that segfault crash down to this commit, which triggers a null deference in some error handling code. With that bug fixed, we have been able to move the ETN out of that overloaded wallet slowly but surely over the last few weeks. Enough ETN have been moved out that we are comfortable allowing deposits and withdrawals again.

A new deposit address has been created, resetting our wallet file back to zero.

PLEASE MAKE SURE you are sending funds to the correct address and payment ID on your deposit page. If you send funds to the old deposit address, we can’t guarantee we will be able to recover it.

This is only a short-term solution, we may have to move to a new deposit address a few times before our long-term solution is ready.

Sorry for the delays, this was not a simple problem to fix but we are working very hard to resolve this and appreciate your patience.

The Cryptopia Team

Ohh yuhheee! Thank you man! Smiley

I get an error saying it cant generate a deposit address when I try deposit some etn.

Drugs destroy people but not only, it destroys the family and random people who don't ask anything, and a family doesn't ask to be destroyed.

Dont believe the hype.

The UN estimate there are over 200 million recreational drug users in the world of which only 10% of those have addiction issues.  The majority of drug users get high without any major consequences.

When big pharma release a new drug they also have small percentage of users that will experience bad side effects but that does not mean their drug is not acceptable and useful.

The war on drugs is a made up war and drug prohibition was created for political reasons not for health reasons.

The biggest drug dealer in the world is the CIA so as long as there is war on drug it is more profitable for them.

here is one example of how it should be.

Dr Shulgin who rediscovered a drug in 1973 and called it MDMA never expected it to be such a massive party drug.  He saw its therapeutic value.

Hey everyone,

I'm on Linux and I downloaded the Direct miner version in a zip to an external drive. I need to keep wallet sync data on external drives, due to size.

So I started up the Electroneumd file and now it's syncing, except it's storing the data on my main drive!

Is there a way to specify where this data gets saved? Can I move it?

Thanks for any assistance here.

create a symlink to store your local electronuem directory onto your external drive.

I once read an article that says bitcoin is used as a payment transaction for terrorists and hackers. And maybe you guys in this forum also already know it. But here i want to convey my personal opinion in that matter. I think that internet and bitcoin interrelated. Many terrorists and criminals use internet .so also with bitcoin which used perpetrator However, despite all these issues, do people make concrete efforts to ban the internet? No. Not because removing and banning Bitcoin is difficult, but because the internet offers more positive than negative. For the same reason, we have to be more careful about our mindset for Bitcoin, because much evidence has shown that Bitcoin brings many positive, if not more, effects than the internet. Internet and Bitcoin are just devices that 'bad guys' and 'good people'. Fortunately, the world is filled with more people in the 'good people' category.

Yes, Bitcoin is being used by criminals all over the world. The other day I even read an article about ISIS using it(Not sure about it's credibility). It has no boundries, it's not restricted by land or territory and is untraceable thus they use it. Yes you are right it all depends on our mindset, but more of the rich people are being affected by bitcoin thus there has been bans on it in many countries.

The amount of BTC used for illegal activities is estimated to be over 1 Billion Dollars however the amount of FIAT currency used by criminals and tax avoidance in off shore tax havens runs into the trillions of dollars.

Lets put things into perspective here.

Hello guys, I was looking at bitcoin for a while, and now I bought 0.5 bitcoin through coinbase. Could you please advise me, what to do next? There are a lot of different coins out there. I watched some youtube videos, and seems, people are making money left and right with crypto...How can I turn my bitcoin into lots of profits?  Huh
Will be happy for any suggestion xxx

The way to turn Bitcoin into profit without lifting a finger is to just put the coins in a secure wallet and hold on to it for a year or more.

Watching it now.  The first 10 minutes has been okay, but I suspect the usual biases will be thrown in soon.  It seems to be shifting the subject to shady crapcoins like Onecoin now, so I'm hoping they aren't planning on tarring Bitcoin with the same brush.

//EDIT:  Okay, they did spend a little too long on the darknet and "bubble" stuff, but then just about redeemed it right at the end by saying that massive price swings aside, the real purpose is to get away from the banks and reinvent money.  It's just a shame that most people will focus on the negative stuff.  But time will likely change that.

I will try to look for this show. I am interested to find out if there have been any manipulative messages in their narrative. I'm an expert in recognizing even subtle manipulations.

Overall It looked like it was warning to public to stay away from bitcoin.

BBC like other media is owned by financial organisations who have always shown cryptocurrency in a bad light so I wonder how it will be portrayed in tonights bbc special.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b09s3wbt

The shows synopsis reads

Who Wants to Be a Bitcoin Millionaire?
Panorama

Bitcoin is the world's leading virtual currency, but unlike real money, it is not backed by a government or properly regulated. Bitcoin is exchanged and held digitally by users - which is attractive to criminals selling drugs, pornography and arms. But now Bitcoin is moving into the mainstream and being openly marketed as an investment opportunity.

Panorama investigates what Bitcoin is and what it means, going inside a Bitcoin mine in Iceland - where currency is made - and spending time with the Bitcoin millionaires of Silicon Valley. The programme also hears from others who have been scammed out of their life savings and investors who think the cryptocurrency is an enormous scam and that the writing is on the wall.

In Britain, and around the world, authorities are sounding the alarm that Bitcoin is too risky - is it too late, or too crazy, to try to become a Bitcoin millionaire?

As things become more mainstream it gets worse as the majority in the scene have no intelligence.

The main core of enthusiasts who are competent people get over run with an influx of stupid people.  They can then be taken advantage of by bad actors. This in turn creates bad press for the crypto scene.

Overthinking has been a big problem in most of the peoples life. Gives you a negative attitude, affects your relations with friends, family etc. How can you possibly stop yourself from overthinking when probably you have no control of what to think?

Stick with the winners.  Dont watch mainstream news.

Have purpose, Keep breathing in and out  you will be fine.
