Is BBR coming to an end now? I am still supporting the network, but the silence here is becoming a bit overwhelming.

Unfortunately, it looks that way. Many, including myself, have moved on.  The writing has been on the wall for a while: price drop < 8K, hashrate drop < 400M, no mention in last supernet newsletter, no github activity, dev silence, trailing even XDN by over 5X,  boolberry domain name ready to expire in few days, low community participation (myself to blame too), etc.

Actually at this point, SN is more of a liability than a benefit since XMR, BCN, and XDN are doing fine without it, even though I feel that BBR is the best tech among all these.   It goes to show that the best tech does not always win.   Good luck to all who are still invested.

I think this coin is FORKED.

I sent a few payments and they are stuck on UNCONFIRMED for the last few hours.

SOmething is wrong with the block chain

Appears to be working ok here.  Just sent from one wallet to another a small payment that cleared.  Also payments from pool are being received ok.

No offence, but why are you downloading a new wallet from someone with less posts and a different source then the official one?
Good point.  Even though I trust for Scruffy, this is not a good way of doing this.  The download link should at least be in the OP or the official website.  Also the following may help: checksum, code review.

recent transactions tab is not working for me.

  • When I tried sending an amount (using an alias) I got a "Failed to send transaction: wrong payment_id" error.  I think this is because the payment ID text box had the "PAYMENT ID..." text.   When I cleared the text then it sent the amount.   However, there was no visible feedback other than the balance getting reduced.  It took me several clicks (=several sends) to notice.
  • Also I was not able to start version 2.0.41 later - it was stuck with "Loading blockchain data..." status. I started the app from a folder that I copied from the Windows Programs folder. I did try it from this folder prior installing the test version and it worked OK then.  It appears that the blockchain is not interchangable.  The test version is able to use the 2.0.41 blockchain but not the other way around. I had to clear the Windows Roaming folder, and re-download the blockchain.  Perhaps the recommendation should be to try the test version on a different computer or to save the old blockchain from the Windows Roaming folder prior to running the test version.

Thank you for your help,  sorry for corrupted blockchain data.(

This is the fix for issues listed in quote above: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/24069897/bbr/v6/setup.zip, only windows installer or sources at github again.
Also I noted the wallet can no longer be opened by 2.0.41.  Lucky I had a backup, but I did use a wallet with a small amount.  I did not try the  latest download above.  I will try later, if I get some time.

Thank you for testing.) Are there any issues?

recent transactions tab is not working for me.
Good work Scruffy but I did encounter the following issues:

  • The Open Wallet screen is less intuitive.
The "Destination" and "Password" labels look like either text boxes or buttons.  The actual text boxes were a bit too washed out to immediately notice on my screen.  Additionally, there is an "Open..." button and an "OPEN WALLET" link. Should the "Open..." button be instead "Browse..."?  It might be better to just remove the "Destination" label and place the destination text box next to the "Open" (or "Browse") button.
  • When I closed the app, it seemed like it was not responding.  When I tried it again later, I realized that I did not see the "Deinitialing Core" text in the status area.  You might want to place "Please Wait" in big letters in the main window similar to when starting up.

Another crazy thought here that might benefit both bbr and lou.  Instead of pow, consider burning bbr. Same as counterparty, except burning bbr instead of btc.
Anyway, just a thought.

I feel this is a betrayal of loyal BBR investors/supporters.  Why not eventually add POS to BBR?   Is there any plan to distribute any of the new coins to BBR bag holders?

CZ is allowed to do things besides BBR.  He is not your slave.

When Sunny King created Primecoin it was not a betrayal of Peercoin investors/supporters, because POW and POS coins are different products.  Sunny King enhanced the reputation of PPC, his first coin, by creating another spectacularly innovative one in the form of XPM.  The same logic applies here.

The more well known CZ is, the better off BBR will be.  If CZ can beat Darknote to the first Cryptonite POS implementation that would be a very nice feather in his hat and also in BBR's by association.

The plan to distribute the new coin to BBR holders is: rage/panic sell your BBR, then buy the new coin when it's available.   Smiley
I cannot argue against your reasoning since you are correct.  I did overreact a bit, and my apologies to CZ.
I am glad that I did not follow through on my panic sell. Smiley

bbr need jl777's effect again.
It is happening but more quietly.  Not as instant but with bigger punch.   There is also the CZ effect in the works.  Both of these effects keeps this crypto real instead of hype.

Edit: And the Bitcrea effect. Great GUI!

The odds of a counterwallet passphrase being brute-force discovered are roughly the same as any Bitcoin private key being brute-force discovered.

Indeed this is not what to worry about.  What to worry about, are trojans, rootkits, keyloggers, screen scrapers, nosy coworkers, etc.

Yes. And don't forget fishing.  Never google "counterwallet" or you can end up clicking on a sponsored imposter.  I learned my lesson after googling "blockchain" a few months ago - I am surprised that Google has not blacklisted this keyword by now.

Yes i made a mistake. But I am surprised that everybody is on that one pool.

I keep getting disconnects from that pool and would switch but no other decent pool out there.
Not really true.  I have have using bbr.poolto.be the past week with good results, in doing my small part to divert some hashes from cncoin.

[quote  so they make up words like "shady" to stir things up.
+1
"Shady" is pure worst-case speculation since not enough details have been revealed. It could just be a diff in opinion what is a good business decision. For example, if the solution requires a hard fork, then the positives need to greatly outweigh the big negative, and this is subject to differing conclusions.

I just want to say with windjc out and with your decision to turn down funding for whatever principles they wanted you to go against.  I applaud you.  If I can get some bbr's cheap enough I may Smiley  Regardless of the price - your decision reconfirmed legitimacy.  I hope we can figure out the funding.

Shall we change the project donation to 2-5% of the minted coins?
My vote is 5%.
I wonder if clintar's address donation format (YOURADDRESS#DONATIONADDRESS%PERCENT) can be expanded to include multiple donations
e.g., YOURADDRESS#DONATIONADDRESS1%PERCENT#DONATIONADDRESS2%PERCENT
Or will it hit the command line limit?
Aliases would be nice: e.g.,  @myalias#mbk%1#@devfund%4
This percentage would be in "addition to" the project percentage

No rise, I don't know why fund raising was canceled, I suggested the same to Monero a long time ago and I think its the way to go rather than rely on the will of a few unknowns investors (bbr case).
If many feel strongly about "no rise", then my suggestion is strictly between the miner and the pool operator.  One can choose (or create) a pool that has a zero donation policy.

Please suggestions are wanted.

It's official, the foundation has less then 2 more months of funding. 1400 btc as of this moment, they owe 500 btc for September's work leaving 900 btc left. I expect they will hold elections for the end of November when the coffers are empty.

Matt Y, It's actually under 20% of today's market cap.
Something does not make sense.  If 900 BTC was raised with most other cryptos in an IPO, it would be considered a highly successful IPO. That would enough for bounties for a long time.  If any elections, it seems like they should they should be held today.

Re: Final [BOOLBERRY] Rebrand Vote - Ends Sept. 30th
by

2A

It was a tough choice. I went back and forth on this one.  Some thoughts below:

  • For BBR, "that will be 10 berries" is easy to say and sounds good.  For Etherium, it is "10 ethers".  Harder to do with Aureum. 10 Aureums? 10 Aures? 10 AU's
  • Boolberry is a silly name, but as we are seen, this is becoming an advantage. It is memorable and unique.
  • Name is too entranced at this point.  Perhaps if this was done before SuperNet was in the picture, it would have made more sense then, or even earlier.
  • No further work is needed in modifying all existing documentation, website, wallet/files/folders, etc. This time can instead put into the tech.
