Re: [ANN - BIGUP] !! BIGUP $$ The BIGUP Brigade Is Ready For Battle!!!

The bottom line is if we are to do anything with BigUp we need to get an exchange listing, would could approach some of the sub-satoshi exchanges out there...

The point being, without liquidity, no stability or motivation for stakers.  Also an exchange would help on settle on a primary chain (in case counter-party forks exist).

All this in mind, a block explorer would be important in order to get the listing...anyone with experience enough to build one?

with pain in my heart i am leaving this coin , so the bigup.club will be closed within 2 weeks  Cry ... my first project where i participated in , it also toke a lot of time ... and eventually my money.

to my knowled this is one of the first POS coin there is... pity..

dev of this coin is a pussy to leave us this way ... i know your reading this  .. so big F to you

Thanks for sticking around so long, I've been here since the beginning of BIGUP and while I haven't run the wallet since the exchange listings went down, I have, on occasion checked bigup.club, just to see if something new would be coming. It's a shame since it is such a fun idea for a coin, and while silly, it worked quite well for a long time.  Hope you have found a new blockchain community, one that follows through, they are out there.  Be safe in this Altcoin Forest my friend.

RIP bigup.club you will be missed.

I notice my wallet says Stake: 0.  Do I have to do anything special for the wallet to start staking besides encrypting and unlocking it? 500 XSN enough to get weekly stakes?

I'm not sure if 500 is enough to get weekly stakes, you will stake with that amount, I think monthly is a safe bet.  To ensure weekly stakes I would stake atleast 2000, but it is hard for me to say for sure, I am a TPOS merchant and have been since the launch of the project, most of my clients are staking 10,000 or more, I will say that anything greater than 15,000 tends to stake daily (if you are interested in staking anywhere near these quantities, contact me directly, I'd love to provide staking services to you).

Hope that answers your question, let me know if you have others.

Hellooooooo all.

Treefrog brought to my attention that some of the guys on Discord had noticed that discovermoin.com was down and that the bootstrap files weren't available on Github.
Hosting had expired, fixed now. Checked the bootstrap upload script and it seemed to work fine today. Maybe it was an issue with transfer.sh. Will check again in a few days.
For anything critical send me a PM on Riot.

Otherwise still studying. Asymptotic notation and algorithms in general. Juicy stuff.
I know the price is down, but it doesn't mean much when there's no real volume. You could push the price +%1000 with 2 or 3 Bitcoins. The way I see it, the more skills, knowledge and experience the core team acquires, the brighter the future of the project. So in that sense, things are going fine. I'm in this for the long-haul.  Smiley

Glad to hear that you are still with us!

Long time MOIN holder and staker here and a node/masternode operator on more than a dozen networks.

I'm proud to be a contributor to MOIN network stability, further more I am beginning what will likely be year or more of study into programming in the crypto space.

I'm still a bit green as I work to learn blockchain programming, from scratch, as I have not previously learned to code.

This said, as I develop my skills, I would be interested in developing for the MOIN blockchain, and am curious what direction you are leaning with it moving forward so I might direct my study in a similar way (ie are you planning to support a full turing language (the way eth and eos do) in the next incarnation of MOIN or will it support stack based programming only like BTC?

Its good to see that there is still long term holders here as MOIN is a good coin to stake so hopefully we'll see it shine in the long term. It would be good to see more people join the team and help out where they can. I wish I could do more but coding and developing isn't my thing lol.

Don't sell yourself short!  You might not be a coder today...but what the crypto space needs is more builders! There are some great courses out there and even free youtube videos to learn some programming basics.  It is hard work, which isn't for everyone...however it will be the builders that bring crypto to the masses, and the builders will reap the most rewards in the process.  Evidence to this point: "Every single billionaire in the crypto space is a builder." -@IVANONTECH

Any luck on the network repair effort?  I'm an experienced cryptocurrency node operator, running nodes on several networks with 99% up time or better.

Feel free to reach out if I can be of help in any way, I am holding some BTCRY from a long while back, but not running a node on the network, until I hear from a dev as to where the project is at (if anywhere).

Anyway lemme know cheers!

Re: How often do you invest your Bitcoin to Altcoins?
by
pwnsauce
on 28/07/2019, 01:49:24 UTC
I have thought of this topic because I don't invest much in altcoins, just trading it to profit. I'm talking about the one you will buy that you would HODL in the long term and keeping it in your cold wallet, hardware wallet, paper wallet, or whatever you do with it as long as you keep the currency itself.

The reasons I could think are the following:

  • You invest because of the Technology of the coin And what it could bring to the cryptocurrency space
  • You know the developers and supporting them
  • You believe you could profit in the long-term
  • Because of the Name of the coin. Lol.

I'm just wondering if there are other reasons that you may have and if you agree with the ones I listed. Share it here.

I'm primarily invested in Altcoin, and very rarely hold high amounts in BTC.

While the reasons that you list are true in many cases, there are other advantages to holding altcoin, I'll list 3:

1. Staking!

Since altcoin really refers to any crypto other than Bitcoin (BTC), the only options for POW is one of many different altcoin options.

2. Privacy

Bitcoin does not provide anonymity only pseudonymity.  For crypto to full replace cash worldwide it need to provide the same anonymity as cash, many altcoin chains provide this.

3. Diversity of Portfolio

While it is true that, right now, Bitcoin is doing very well but leaving many altcoins in the dust.  Many altcoin investers whom were properly diversified during the past couple years saw much smoother movement in their profolio than those simply holing BTC, while these folks in this situation may currently be down from those who held BTC alone.  In time bitcoin scalability issues as well as the two other items I mentioned have the ability to revive the altcoin market.

Hope that helps to clear up why some of us choose to hold our crypto in altcoin rather than bitcoin, and in the end isn't that what cryptocurrency is really all about? Choice.

I’m not a 100% if Wallet.dat can be imported but there will be desktop and mobile versions for the multicurrency wallet which you can restore from seed so can have it in both places or as many as you want.

That makes sense, thank you for the info.  Is there a way to generate a seed from an active wallet.dat?  I don't typically use seed keys, nearly all of my crypto is contained within encrypted wallet.dat backups...

I am still running a staking node for this coin, but haven't seen any updates on it in a long time.  Do we still have a dev?  How about an exchange?

exchange ?

here
https://yobit.net/en/trade/EVO/BTC

yobit's evo wallet is in maintenance.. we can't really use it right now..

maybe they just need the nodes

...maybe...but yobit is the worst when it comes to updating there wallets, might as well call themselves yo(we forked your chain)bit cause its about all they are good for, still waiting on then to finish maintenence on: MTLMC3, XCO, BIGUP and now EVO

It's quite the blockchain graveyard they are hosting, if you ask me.

And someone should ask CoinMarketCap to list NOBL again.

I agree, it is very difficult (timely) to find an exchange with decent volume without coinmarketcap info.

Hi Guys,

Sooo........ my wallet crashed and its taken a little bit of effort to get back on line which it is but........ ive lost over 28'000 coins in the process as coins that were staked over a 3 day period prior to the crash are showing up in the transactions as a "CONFLICTED" transaction now, WTF?

Ive tried to do the whole look for missing transactions and all the rest but it doesn't do resolve the issue

Anyone got any thoughts or ideas?

Your transactions show up CONFLICTED when the chain becomes forked.  Basically, you and a few other wallets ended up creating your own chain with rules that don't match the main chain.  Since this coin has no block explorer and no exchange...who know which chain is the real one anyway...this is a common problem with poorly programmed and never updated blockchains.

You can run into this issue even on major network though when they update there wallet and introduce new protocols, any wallets that don't update to the new version will start there own fork that will not be accepted by the main chain.

Hope that helps.

Re: - AURORACOIN -
by
pwnsauce
on 25/07/2019, 18:10:34 UTC
A rookie question maybe:

Why is the dollar price for auroracoin on NovaExchange when trading AUR/BTC only  $0.00881  but when trading AUR/DOGE it is $0.010281 ?

I assume that doesn't mean that one could buy a lot of aurora at $0.00881 using BTC, then sell it from aurora to DOGE at $0.010281 and thenturn those DOGE back to BTC somewhere and one would have a 600-800% profit?

That would be a bit too easy, so I guess I just don't understand the CMC price info?

What you are suggesting is actually possible, and happens on many exchanges several times a day.  What you want to look at is the available volume at the respective prices. So basically you may be able to do exactly what you are saying, to the volume that is available on said exchange.  The volume, however, may only allow you to purchase (for example), .00001 btc or AUR and you may only be able to sell a portion of that for DOGE, then back to Bitcoin.  If the volume is too small the fees alone can make it not worth it.  What you are suggesting is what is referred to as, arbitrage.  It can be a very effective way to earn money, but only works if the quantities are high enough and if you get to the "put" before someone else.

Lastly make sure you are looking at actually "puts" and "calls" (buys and sells), because often times the difference in displayed price is due to one pair being traded recently (an accurate price) and one pair not seeing movement in days, weeks, or longer (legacy price).

Hope that helps.
