Is there any kind of problem with pools? I've voted delegates but it seems they are no validating any block...

http://lbtc-pool.io

There's definitely some problem somewhere in their network.

its hard to find any answers when dealing with chinese forks/projects. one has to wonder if the information is burried under the great firewall  Cheesy

Re: is worth to buy bitcoins?
by

hi;

i have 3000$ and what do you think? im going to buy bitcoins and i will wait for years last;

is worth that decision good ?

Will you ask that question at 3000, or 6000, 9000, etc..? It is my belief that Bitcoin is near bottom of a major move upwards in the coming months. Buying now and holding has never failed anyone. The only way you lose is if you sell too soon. There may be better short term profits in alts but those markets could crash at any time. No risk, no reward. Choose wisely.

Re: ViaBTC: Should we active Segwit?
by
quake313
on 06/05/2017, 20:50:23 UTC
So there are 821 Votes for Yes, and 181 votes for No to implement SegWit.
A reasonable super majority is in favor of Segwit wherever you look, besides the current number of blocks mined with it (which makes no sense considering the first part of this sentence).

But do you really think they are going to take that poll into consideration for supporting SegWit, because I don't think so (though I have voted). When money speaks, all the other noises turn to silence.
You could both say yes and no to this question. F2Pool had a similar poll after which they have started signalling for Segwit. You can, of course, argue that they did it for some other reason(s) as well. It can't hurt to show your support this way in any case.

Let us hope this is the beginning of the end to the scaling wars. Forgive, accept and move on. Progress must be made.

Re: Bitcoin surges above $1,500 - CNBC POST
by

I really feel that bitcoin will surge up to $2000 in the first half of this year. Those people that bought bitcoin when it dumped $900 are very lucky. They are filthy rich right now especially those whales.

I do not agree. The very lucky people are the altcoin investors. While Bitcoin is going up in fiat value, the altcoins are continuing to out perform Bitcoin and they keep going up in BTC value. By the end of this cycle, I believe there will be a few more millionaires made.

People who invested in alts early did indeed make out good if they sell at the right time before the collapse. Anyone that thinks alt coins are not in a bubble are deluding themselves. When that bubble breaks, all that alt coin money will quickly flow into Bitcoin either causing a Bitcoin bubble or massively inflating an existing one.

Currently, Bitcoin is not in a bubble, although the likely hood of one happen happening this year is pretty good. I am kind of kicking myself though, I could have made over 500k if I had shifted some of my Bitcoins into ETH before their run up  Cry

When that alt bubble pops, it will be devastating to those markets.

Those of us who Bitcoin touched inappropriately between 2014/15, are you fully healed and behind this rise?

I'm still not too happy about the Bitfinex thing and would be far more excited if things were back to normal. I can't tell whether that's lingering PTSD or a justified gripe. How are you feeling deep down inside?

Something just don't seem right about this rally but I'm happy. Just not as happy as I've been in the past about rallies.

Re: John Nash created bitcoin
by

Yes he is a great man and even if Nash is keeping pushing that kind of ideal it doesn't mean that he is truly Satoshi, even if they have many evidence that he is truly him many people would not believe it or buy anything like this, it sounded like they are pushing him to be satoshi, I think Nash is a remarkable guy and done a lot of thing to the community but we can really never know who is satoshi, and I think do we have to know the truth bitcoin is doing well even if he is not around.

I'm surprised this topic was not moved to the speculation sub  Roll Eyes

Re: The only answer against Miners Mafia is UASF

Blockstream, of which Maxwell is an officer of, stands to profit from Bitcoin becoming a settlement layer. Settlement layer solutions are literally Blockstream's only products.

Do you have any proof to back up that claim?

From what I understand, the only products blockstream currently has are blockchain tech for banks, such as "confidential assets" and the work they did on IBM and Intel's "hyperledger".

They did not develop any lightning implementation, nor did they state they planned to run a lightning hub, and it doesn't make much sense for them to run one as the best businesses to run LN hubs are companies like coinbase and bitpay who already have a large base of users and merchants and are already doing offchain payments.
Blockstream is officially testing Lighting on the testnet. They also consider themselves to be a "implementers" of Lighting protocol system(s).

The first product of Blockstream is licquid, which acts as a 2nd layer above Bitcoin. They have developed Strong Federations, which supplement Liquid.

Blockstream's sidechains also act as a 2nd layer.

I suspect that they will implement confidential assets into either LN or another 2nd layer solution. This is likely where the big money is as Banks spend a lot of money on back office work in settling trades, and have tried unsuccessfully in trying to streamline these processes with blockchain technology.

Further, LN (along with SW) will have so much technical debt, that consultants will likely be needed in order to properly setup LN nodes, and create LN compatible wallets, and the supply of qualified people who can advise companies on how to implement LN will be in short supply, however many of them will work for Blockstream, allowing them to sell their services at high rates -- they will essentially make Bitcoin and LN so complicated so that few people understand how it works.

Conspiracy theory much?

Sam Cole is full of shit, sorry. He claims it's impossible Maxwell reverse engineered Bitmain ASICs even though Bitmain has admitted themselves they have implemented asicboost into their miners and their pool even has software for it.

Is it not Bitmain that engineered ASICBoost?

English is not my first language maybe thats why I dont follow your quoted argument about reverse engineering.  Please explain.

You don't know what reverse engineering is? Look it up in the dictionary or google it or something. Maxwell is the one who discovered Bitmain had asicboost ready and implemented in their chips through reverse engineering their hardware, and Bitmain acknowledged this is the case. Same Cole basically states in his article that he doesn't believe asicboost was implemented in any chips because he can't think of a way to gain an advantage by doing so, and he also doesn't believe Maxwell was able to reverse engineer a Bitmain ASIC because he thinks that's too difficult. Both of his claims are refuted by the facts, Sam is just behind on what's going on.

As someone who has been personally screwed by KnC (they shipped me a busted miner I had to fix myself), I would not believe everything this guy says. There may be some truth to it but he may have ulterior motives. You can never know know who pays him or what investments he may have. For all we know, he may be invested into Bitmain. Like the old adage says, if you can't beat them, join them.

Re: Well, well, well, now we know what Jihan Wu’s been up to.
by

Apparently, Jihan Wu has been covertly using some patented exploit called asicboost to gain 20%+ efficiency on his hardware that’s incompatible with SegWit. It all makes sense now. Hope he gets his ass sued off.

Shills care to chime in?

https://lists.linuxfoundation.org/pipermail/bitcoin-dev/2017-April/013996.html

WOW, that is one hidden motive against segwit revealed. I wonder how the community will react to this? One man holding up development of Bitcoin to further his own personal agenda (and wallet).

This also puts other miners at a disadvantage such as Bitfury, I bet there're pissed hearing this  Angry
