I;m also shorting for a couple of hours now, no regrets. Seems like panic has hit a lot of weak hands.

your hands, for example.

Maybe, I generally don't sell I but for various personal reasons I had to convert to fiat... Now that I took care of that opening a short and then swithing to long when its going up again is not bad right? I normally do hold for longer periods.

But nice burn anyway lol, made me smile a bit Smiley

Since this is the speculation thread, do you guys think we will get to 2600 again before august? Lost and made some money, still need a bit more to break even again.

Bro, I'll heartedly advice you not to play in such a volatile market as crypto is. Unless you're a full skilled trader from stock markets. BTC is king and will win the final battle against fiat. Soon things will be like that:

https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=http%3A%2F%2Fi.imgur.com%2FgE8hDnY.jpg%26t%3D578%26c%3DNlb3YmM93n0Fkw%26t%3D578%26c%3D2idGqolDzwr44A%26t%3D578%26c%3Djntx8uiI_lupcw%26t%3D578%26c%3D0y5X549ddb8l1A&t=578&c=tt-yWdJEtGIaJ                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                               A

You are completely right, I'm definitely not a skilled trader yet, just been lurking for some time

I am just playing with around 2k, and I only buy in trends + when I see clear candle patterns and with the info from this website and telegram. So most of the time I only make "safe" (I know it is almost never safe") trades. But then I discovered leverage trades, made some good money, adrenaline was pumping, got overconfident (also the drinks did not help) went long just as it was turning (Still have no idea where my logic went).

I am aspiring to become a full skilled stock trader, BTC just happened to come on my path and with little money you could still easily make a couple of 100 bucks. Also the idea of using it as long term savings account looked great since in Holland I get less then 1% growth in a year... Also since the laws for bitcoins are still in a grey area you can do a lot of fun things with it (currently writing a coin buying and investing website with ideal support for a select amount of people). The API's in general are funt to work with as a programmer so it gives me some incentive to work.

As soon as I get that website up and running and have some more funds I'll start opening up a proper broker account and reading into where to start there... This is getting a bit off topic but any suggestions on where I can start even with a low amount off funds. Probably best not to post it here.

TLDR;
Lost all my earnings and a chunk of my 2k due too leverage and intoxicated, slowly getting it back. Also do want to get into  normal

The world is a place with lots of incompatible people, religions, and cultures.

The only incompatibility stems from being afraid of what's different.

Bullshit.  Different just means "diversity", which is just a synonym for "less white people" or "white genocide".  I notice you aren't walking around in China or Africa amongst the 99.9% Chinese or African population and complaining to them that it's not "diverse" enough.  No, uttering propaganda words like that simply means you're an anti-white Marxist.  It's honestly amazing white people fell for that propaganda for such a long time, but now it doesn't work anymore and you're just identifying yourself immediately as a hostile enemy combatant by uttering such words.

Don't know about the first part but man you need to lighten up mate. Are you one of those white supremacists I see on discovery who always carries a gun thinking there will be a racial war?
I mean I think most "white" or western men choose to not go to most of the countries you speak of since they are less developed then where they live. And there are enough Dutch English Spanish  people left over in Africa from time when when / they had colonies.

So chill man no need to call out shit like white genocide.

It is happening!

23,6% segwit2x support and going up fast
(last 144 blocks)

How long until they can signal for the 2MB hard fork that comes with it?

Can anybody give me a quick rundown of what this means, or a proper resource that I can read?

Hi I have a question, I am trying to buy BTC on Kraken and placing limit orders, but there are so many people constantly putting like 0.001 above me.
They don't look like a bot (Seen those before) but there are just so many. Using the market buy doubles the fees Sad

Anyone knows of a piece of software or a trick to keep placing those limit orders? Or am I just missing something.
There are bots like that but they are often expensive.
Many people do that manually, what else to do on exchange than adjusting ur offer constantly.
Give better price you will sell faster if time is the essence.

I was doing that for 30 min + (for buying) and never got through. Always made sure I bid the highest or slightly under the highest since the price would come down sometime and cancel the order.

Pretty annoying if the price is jumping up and you want in on it fast.

Ahh cool, well I'm still learning a lot about trading, but I am currently programming a dashboard to simplify some stuff ( auto limit orders, managing funds from customer etc ). Also since this is the speculation forum, what is everyone's thought about tonight, how low will we go. 2k support or back to 1900

Dont fight the trend, why so serious.   Advice Im given is you dont presume down when overall the trend has been upwards and that is true of bitcoin.  So Im not looking for a reset.

On kraken we have slipped out of its positive trend that was formed after the bigger pullback.  I wasnt sure that was going to matter but its eventually turned over like we see now.
however we measure in equal proportions and that simple trend was 31 hours old on break, its not a big deal now that it did not hold.  In fact we went upwards at a slower pace anyway, now we come back to a rough 2169-2225 area which is just a circle more then any loss.   See how this area reacts for a check on if we negative etc.  My take is neutral on that

I drew $2488 as a resistance line. 2350 possible old positive trend.  Do we wait till those two cross, end June I would guess we are not that well balanced and calm.  Huobi doesnt have trend short term but its also sideways

Yea you are right I was fighting it and didn't set proper trailing limits, I should have just cashed out at bare profit or atleast a stop limit at the break even (which it passed). But wanted to correct a previous mistake and ended up just messing it up more. Its going down now a bit, I'm setting up a trailing limit and am of to bed. Cheers, good night.

Well, currently, we seem  to be about in the middle of a price range of $2300 to $2650.  We are nearly in the middle, and it seems to be a bit less likely that we are going to break downwards out of the range before we break upwards.

And, yeah, if we were to break downwards, then there would be pretty decent odds of going below $2k and $1800 would be fairly reasonable.. on the other hand, like I said, breaking up seems to bit more of a better bet - at least at the moment... and if we break above $2650 then likely we will be on our way to testing $3k.

I would not rule out consolidating for 1-2 weeks either, which may cause some boredom and maybe that is slightly less odds of going up would be to go sideways within the previously described price range.

Oh yeah sorry I was talking about euro's we are currently already below 2.2k. I sure don't hope for the consolidation, first "investor" is giving me some of his money to trade with (and I take a percentage). I tried some altcoins instead of BTC and some made a nice profit which was fairly predictable due to whales, but it also made it hard since they could suddenly cash out and leave. Helped me learn the hard way to setup stop loss and trailing stop limits.

For tax reasons i can only do one sell per year. So one sell and one rebuy.
But i am paralyzed looking at the bars and don't do anything.]

That's the right way to do it, beyond tax reasons. The pic below let you imagine year-traders.
They're just one step below the HODLer's nirvana.

I am the above (since about 3 months) I do it after work mostly but I actually like it. I can look at the charts for hours in a row and just love to read and try to make some nice earnings each night.

Also placing that leverage 5 short order was a good idea Smiley
I like looking at charts too - but don't spend as much time as I used to - wrote a bot to follow my main trading rules - now I spend most of the time reallocating assets =)

Would shorting right now still make some money or will it go up soon again. Missed the "big" drop while eating ...
Can't really make sense of it right now....

Edit:
Bitcoinforcast is predicting for it to go down but it says this at the top :
Flash info: This exchange is currently 4.42% below global market average. Correction up to 2 359 EUR may be imminent.

Been away for about two weeks on a holiday, liquidized most of my assets before going on the holiday (probably not the best choice oh well).
Now looking to buy back in day / swing trading. Anybody care to give me a quick summary what is happening at the moment?

Made some losses yesterday my usual buying / selling didn't work. Any pointers when to rebuy, do you guys think it will go down to 1650-1700 euro / 1900 usd again?

1900 in minutes, bitstamp

I tried to estimate what 1650-1700 would be equal to in usd, but I used bitstamp as a reference point. Because I am currently only active on kraken with euro's...

 Try xe.com
They have an excellent conversion tool.

edit: 1,650 EUR =1,844.82USD
edit: 1,700 EUR =1,900.63USD

Dont expect too much or you will miss it.
My guess for the next 6h is 1800-2200 range at bitstamp.
Place your bets

Thank, both of you Smiley Bookmarked the website.
Also what do you guys use for your speculation. I only used MACD a little bit, but I always see you guys with fancy charts with "support" lines etc. What is a good place to start learning this? (website, book, or even just some terms I can google)

And for buying and selling, sometimes when I am placing limit buy's or sells it seems like bots are immediately always putting some coins above / below me or with a highly fluctuating market it can be a bit tedious to buy or sell. Does anybody know of a good bot which I can just tell to buy now slightly below "market price" and if the market fluctuates it automatically cancels and reset the limit buy? / Anybody got experience with bots in general?

Made a huge loss, set some alarms at 1950 euro's so I could take a look and sell if it was going down hard (and it did) but forgot to turn them on (its a small slider I did not know about and apparently they were off for the new alarms I made). So in the end I woke up to a 400 euro loss. What a waste  Sad

You only have a loss if you sell for less then you bought. Don't be that guy.

Normaly I'd play the HODL game but, the downward trend is still there and not stopping a far as I can see. Rather sell now with the loss, and as soon as another pump starts buy back in. Rather have a 400 loss and buy in at a lower rate than HODL till 600 loss and then try to get everything back. Made a big mistake not putting my new investing money for this month on the exchange before the weekend so also can't buy any extra coins.

Mistakes mistakes mistakes Roll Eyes Does anybody know a good alarm app? I am using bitcoin checker for android right now but you have to keep your volume up for it to work. What I want is a proper alarm that even goes off when my phone is on vibrate.
