Convince me why ETH will reach back to $800-$1000 this year
by

I don't want to sound unfaithful and negative. But I just don't see it happening. At least not this year. Maybe next year or in 2 years. I believe what happened in December when everything was rising was just a "miracle". There is no guarantee that could happen again. ETH could fall below $100-$200 and it can take 2-3 years to reach back to $1000. I think that is more realistic. But people still make crazy prediction that ETH will be 2K+ by the end of this year. I want to know people's reasoning behind this because I just can't see it happening. BTC years ago when it crashed, took couple years to recover back. This could be the case with ETH.  Also, there is no guarantee there will be mass adoption. Whales are taking enjoyable profits right now and I believe price will get lower. Then get little pump – dumped again – little pump – dumped again. Repeat. You guys are crazy if you guys think ETH will break 1k (hell even reach back to $800) by the end of this year. Maybe next year. Please pay attention to what’s been happening in the market. I just cannot see that happening logically.

I invested half of my  saving ($25,000)  into ETH when it was $725. ETH has now plunged to $459. I am very worried I will keep losing money and I fear for the worst.  I want to go kill myself   Huh

I want crypto to succeed. I'm not a hater. I am highly exposed and continue to hodl. There's nothing I'd like more than to open Binance to a sea of green rocketships flying me to a moonlambo.

But....

I just can't understand who would buy bitcoin, or who would think bitcoin's price is going to appreciate at the moment other than the people who already own bitcoin. If I wasn't already in it, I don't think there's any shot I'd touch it with a 10 foot pole right now after watching what's gone on over the last few months. And the entire market depends on Bitcoin.

What new money is going to come into the market and drive up prices? The entire world knows this is a speculation bubble and right now it seems like the odds of losing 50% of your money are as good or better than the odds of making 50%. Cryptocurrency is way too risky of an asset for the vast majority of people, and they see it as akin to gambling more so than an opportunity to get in early on the next big thing. Every meme line drawing TA guy who is convinced Bitcoin is about to enter a new bull market is blatantly ignoring the macro issues that are in play here.

Until some working products/ecosystems come out and can demonstrate some fundamental value, significant amounts of new money aren't going to come into this market. The run was based entirely on hype, and the hype is completely gone for the foreseeable future. It's going to take many more months, or possibly a year or more, for money to start coming back in - and it's going to be a slow march of a rise. We'll never see a parabolic rise in the cryptocurrency markets again.

I'd love to be wrong. By all means, convince me I'm wrong. But my faith and morale has essentially hit rock bottom. Each time BTC pumps then fails, alts bleed out even lower than the previous cycle. And I just can't see an end in sight.

If you truly believe crypto is going to enter an unprecedented bull run in the near term - what am I missing? What do I have wrong here?  Huh Huh

Korean whales will pump TRX to $1 next week

First, I want to tell you I am Korean myself living in the United States and know quite some people who have connections with crypto whales in Korea. I initially decided not to share this. However, I wanted to share some good for the bitcointalk community. Wink I hope I don't get ban for this kinds of post. Basically, yesterday I attended a networking event. I had opportunity to speak with a great Korean investor who has many connections with crypto whales in Korea and has received inside information that they will pump TRX to $1 next week on the 31st. If you didn't know, the coinburn and beta launch is coming next week as well as the test/main net. Def a good time to buy TRX right now for insane profit coming next week .

Is $900 a realistic prediction for ETH by EOY?
by

I want to know what you guys think  Huh Is $900 realistic? I bought at $900 so I'm hoping I just break even. I don't really think it will hit back to $1000 because of the short pumps and whales taking profit repeating.

We should be thankful of whales, not hate them
by
quickie69
on 22/03/2018, 15:14:36 UTC
Please think about it. If it weren't for whales, prices wouldn't be pumped up. I purchased coins when they were near their highest and at least I have hope because I believe a plethora of whales can pump them back up sometime this year. Even if the project is a great project, there is no way we can expect the coin to rise in value unless there is mass adoption, which I don't see it anytime soon. So therefore, we should not fear whales but rather thank them.  Wink

Why are so many investors optimistic that the market cap will hit trillion?
by

Why are so many investors optimistic that the market cap will hit trillion this year?

I don't understand. There’s just no new money or “dumb money” flowing in cryptocurrency like it did in late 2017. FUD is causing so many people to pull out. Many of them may not ever put money back in due to constant fear and worry.

Until you hear crypto talk taking over your company parties again like it did in December, we won’t reach that big of a market cap anytime soon. Please wake up.  Huh

How can I avoid making this trading mistake? It's giving me a headache
by
quickie69
on 13/03/2018, 18:07:14 UTC
So I bought 10k worth of ETH because I wanted to begin swing trading with 10K for potential solid profits via swing trades. However, I had to wait a damn week on Coinbase to receive it. However, by the time I had finally received it, the value of ETH has gone down so I only got around $9,700. So basically from there on, Im down 300 dollars, which only left me with $9,700 to begin swing trading with. So let's say I dump all the $9,700 into an alt coin for a swing trade. So in this situation, I'm already down $300. I am not happy. Let's say hypothetically, the alt coin I want to swing trade is priced at 45 cents. If the coin goes up to 47 cents and sell, I would have made $431 in profit, but if you actually think about, I would only actually make barely over $100 in profit since I've spent $10,000 worth of ETH in the very first place and value of ETH had gone down.  Huh Huh

A redditor is threatening me to send him cryptocurrency.
by
quickie69
on 12/03/2018, 14:40:34 UTC
Long story short - using my old account on Reddit, I troll posted in one of the cryptocurrency sub-reddits saying how I put nearly my whole life savings into a cryptocurrency coin (obviously I did not, it was just for trolling and entertainment purposes). A day later, a redditor with 0 post history messaged me with the title "Wake Up" listing my full name, address, where I work, ethnicity, some of my general interests based off my post history, etc. and demanded roughly $1800 worth of the coin to be sent to his wallet. I began to lose my mind and freak out like crazy.

At first, I was very curious as how he obtained my personal information but my old reddit account name was the same exact name used for my g-mail account and if you had searched my name, my PDF resume (which had my address on it) from 2 years ago would show up as well as my Linkedin profile. that's when I realized how he got all this info. I told him I was going to direct this message to the police and asked in an aggressive manner what the hell he was going to do about it and he calmly goes on to say, "You'll never find me but I found you. I'll give you another 10 hours to send me it. This is my last message." I'm taking this as a very legitimate threat and debating if I need to take action and seriously report this to the local police? What is the best way to handle this situation?

$5000 - ETH
$2500 - NEO
$2500 - ADA

What are your thoughts? My Goal: Just at least 2x profit from my investment and I will be thankful and happy.

If I bought all my alt coins near their January ATH...
by

on 27/02/2018, 01:18:06 UTC
How long do you think I would have to wait until I break even or see profits? I bought nearly all my coins near ATH, unfortunately.  Embarrassed

For example - I bought NEBL when it was trading at around $48. It is now $14.04. I bought SUB when it was trading at around $3.25. It is now $0.54. Bought DRGN when it was trading around $5! It's now $1.41. Everytime I see portfolio, I really wonder how much longer time it will take for me to at least break even or see some green. Sometimes, I get worried they will never recover. Should I be worried? Realistically, how long do you think I might have to wait to see some turnaround? Thanks  Huh

200 x 5,50 $ = 1100 $

200 x 12 $ = 2400 $

You invested 1100 $, and made 2400 $...

Your profit would be 1300 $.  Wink

This makes no sense to me. Why you multiply the $ you invest with the price of the coin you bought at? Aren't you supposed to divide it, rather?

In this scenario, which buyer would come out with the bigger profit?
by
quickie69
on 26/02/2018, 21:31:38 UTC
This is all hypothetical. So let’s say there is Buyer A (John) and Buyer B (Mike). John buys $1,000 worth of  altcoin on February 2018 and holds. Mike buys $1,000 worth of the same Altcoin as well but he buys it 10 months later on December 2018.  On February 2018, the coin’s price was $1.50. From then until December, the coin’s price has fluctuated a lot going from $1.50 to $15 back to $1.50, back to $15, then skyrockets to $50, back to $15, a bunch of phases going up and down both slowly/rapidly, and it’s eventually back to $1.50 in December. Literally couple days after Mike buys the coin priced at $1.50, the coin skyrockets back to $50. Who will have made more profit, John or Mike?  Huh

I struggle with basic math so please help  Undecided

I want to know how to calculate potential profit...need easy explanation as if you are teaching a little student,

Let's say in the following example scenario: I have invested $200 into an alt-coin priced at $5.50. Few months later, it reaches $12. So how do I calculate how much profit I will have made? Is this the correct calculation? Divide 200/5.50, which is 36.36. Then multiply 36.36 by 12, which is 436.32. Then subtract 436.32 minus initial investment (200). So will I have made $236.32? Is this the right way to calculate  Huh
