Can someone explain in what way Binance could become decentralised? I mean, an exchange will always need a team to run and manage it. How could it be fully decentralised?

They could do something similar to Ethfinex:
https://www.ethfinex.com/ethfinex-whitepaper.pdf

People who want high frequency trading can still trade on the centralized exchange.

People who want to retain 100% custody of their assets can make trades on the same orderbook with Bitfinex acting as the middleman:

This diagram explains it:

Guys is it just for me or are Binance withdrawals without 2fa via google authenticator not possible anymore? I must admit I hate google authenticator and so far didnt set up 2fa on Binance. I know its silly, but I just prefer SMS authentication.

Yeah, it looks like 2FA is mandatory before withdrawing now.

SMS verification is worse security anyways.  People had their accounts robbed on Kraken because they were using SMS verification instead of Google Auth:
https://blog.kraken.com/post/219/security-advisory-mobile-phones/

FreeOTP is an open-source fork of Google Auth that works with Google 2FA, in case you don't want to trust the closed-source Google Auth app from the Google Play store:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FreeOTP

Furthermore, you can buy a cheap smartphone for the sole purpose of loading all your 2FA tokens onto it.

Anyone knows how long do you need to wait to get verified on Binance exchange? I'm thinking to start trading there.

Withdrawal limit is 2 BTC for Level 1 verification

Level 1 verification only requires you to verify email address

Even I didn't hear about those Buy back but really it is very good idea to increase the price of coin in the market. Still, there is huge chance for people who are holding the Binance because this exchange has great future in the coming days.

Me neither. There was a video in youtube where they burned live those coins, and an official announcement they will burn 986,000 BNB with the 20% Q3 profit, but honestly price didn´t move a thing. They burned 1% of the 100M they want to buy back... it will take 20 to 25 years to buy and burn the 100M BNB in my opinion.

https://support.binance.com/hc/en-us/articles/115002205552-Binance-1st-Quarter-BNB-Burn-Event

I think Q4 burn will be larger.  They've probably been averaging at least $200k profit per day in Q4.  20% of that would be $3.6m worth of BNB burned ÷ $1.50 average BNB price = 2.4m BNB burned

Hopefully BNB price increases so the buy & burn continues for longer.

whats the different between Kucoin and Biance?
Kucoin is a copy of Binance with a modified reward system.  Both are incorporated in Hong Kong and both have long-term plans to develop decentralized exchanges.

Kucoin:
- 10% of trading fees retained by Kucoin
- 40% of trading fees distributed to referral program1
- 50% of trading fees distributed to KCS holders as dividends
- 10% of profit used to buy & burn KCS until total supply is down to 100m KCS2

They plan to slowly reduce the dividends down to 15% of trading fees.
The dividends continue indefinitely, which makes Kucoin Shares look like a security in Hong Kong or USA3

3. https://blog.gatecoin.com/delisting-of-dgd-icn-pay-and-mco-tokens-on-1-november-2017-90c2c45a3cdc

Binance:
- 20% of profit is used to buy & burn BNB until total supply is down to 100m BNB4
- BNB is used as a currency to pay trading fees with 50% discount.

Q3 profit was $7.5m, so they burned $1.5m worth of the BNB they had collected as fees throughout the quarter.5
It looks like it will take 10+ years to burn 100m BNB.

Advantages of Binance:
- The reward system is designed to make BNB look like a currency. They sold 120m BNB in the ICO, but they only buyback and burn 100m BNB. A lawyer might argue that there's no expectation of profit from this action, so it's not a security.
- Binance retains a higher % of revenue.  More money to invest in building margin trading and decentralized exchange.
- As I mentioned in my previous post, BNB has more utility currently.
- The team has decades of experience building exchange systems at their previous company, Bijietech.
- Binance has deep industry connections.  People like Roger Ver, Chandler Guo, Da Hongfei, Matt Roszak, and Vincent Zhou are holding BNB as angel investors.6
- Strategic partnership with Quoine, the first crypto exchange to be licensed by Japan FSA7

If you accept BNB then you should accept this as a long term investment because BNB is a great and very valuable altcoin in the future. I think people should buy BNB more because the price of BNB is very low
Yeah, i think if binance exchange can have a much larger volume, then many people there will be more interested to use BNB token and the price will be pumped.

I don't think that's related. Binance is already in the podium of the best exchanges out there, and nobody would argue with that.. some even prefer it to bittrex (which doesn't really lists many coins anymore, and has had bad media coverage around the frozen accounts issue), and most would agree that it is the most trending platform at the moment.
The problem of BNB is all about the actual use of the token. As it is now, most think it's just a way for binance to raise some extra funds because other than voting for the coin of the months there's no point in holding tokens.

Current Uses:
1. 20% of profit buy&burn
2. pay trading fees with 50% discount
3. pay for Bijietech services
4. pay listing fees
5. vote for community coins

Upcoming Uses:
6. buy into Binance Labs ICOs
7. base currency in BNB markets
8. collateral for margin trading
9. gas for decentralized exchange

BNB is already one of the most useful coins.  There is a positive correlation between the success of Binance and the fundamental value of BNB.

Is the exchange profit split between the Binance holders?

not even remotely. Binance sells all their collected BNB on the market. So, really there is not even much discount on fees.

Thanks for your reply!

His reply was incorrect.  Binance distributes 20% of profit to BNB holders through buy & burn.  20% of profit in Q3 was $1.5m.

How to realize your share of the profit:
1) I start Q3 with 0.01% of total BNB supply (20k BNB)
2) I slowly sell 100 BNB throughout the quarter to receive $150
3) Traders are buying millions of BNB and sending it to Binance to pay fees
4) Binance burns 1m of the BNB fees ($1.5m worth), and supply is reduced to 199m BNB
5) I end Q3 with 0.01% of total BNB supply (19.9k BNB) + $150

If they sent the $1.5m as dividends instead, I would have ended the quarter with 0.01% of total supply + $150 either way.

This works specificly well when u bought over $2...

Yeah. If you buy the top of a big pump then the price drops below your entry, you'll be at an unrealized loss, regardless of if the coin uses dividends or buy & burn.

In that situation: If the dividends or buy & burn grow large enough, they would lower your average cost per % of the supply.

Will WCX have automatic withdrawals?  Or will withdrawals be processed manually once per day like Bitmex?

If WCX is incorporated in Hong Kong, then is there a big risk of the SFC shutting WCX down for violating securities law?

I think Binance Corner can be a very good bet.

They have impressive volumes even though they have been around for a short time. Large projects are added on the exchange. Even though there are also some Chinese shit. But Poloniex and Bittrex also have shit!

2 points will impact the demand and offer of Binance token.

- Reduction of 50% of the fees if you pay them in Binance token. The system is very well done. At each trade, you are asked how you want to pay your fees. This will encourage the use and therefore the purchase of Binance token.

- Buying and destroying Binance token every quarter is just huge. Given the benefits of trading platforms, I think the buyouts will be very important and will reduce the amount of Binance available ....

As long as I could buy, I will buy Binance token, I think the potential is very great!

Do you or anyone know a date for the first rebuy by them of tokens to destroy them?

In slack, CZ said October 14.

He also said they're still holding all the BNB they collected as fees.

This means for the "rebuy", they will simply transfer some of the BNB they are already holding to a burn address.

That aside, yesterday, someone brought up WhaleClub in a group I follow. If you can't remember what that is, it's the (forex) exchange/broker the gintrux/zhuldzukovya alt account claimed the owners of are responsible for WCX, and WCEX is supposed to be WhaleClubEXchange (it's a perfect fit). Is there evidence for this? Not really. However, WhaleClub:

  • is based in Hong Kong, just like WCX
  • doesn't require any verification to use their service, literally. That's WCX's promise
  • charges awesomely low fees compared to the rest. Also WCX's promise
  • is literally the only website, other than WCX, to design their website that way. Of course this doesn't usually mean much since most sites today are bootstrap copy-pasta but I've not found a single site on the net that uses that same design.
  • is run by anonymous individuals even though they appear to have names. A feature they also share with WCX.
  • has an exchange (the exchange itself, not the site) designed pretty much like WCX. If you're in the beta, check out WhaleClub's and you'll see what I mean.

These could all be coincidences for sure but, if true, WCX will launch, fulfill all their promises, after all they've done it before, but (there's always a but  Wink ) will steal your money through some very smarmy means.

This is what I found on WhaleClub googling yesterday. They promise low fees, and for sure the fees are low, but there's more to it than that. This is the BCT thread that lead to that Reddit thread. Again, it could be nothing.

BTW, the whaleclub url is https://whaleclub.co.

We're investing in an illegal exchange run out of Hong Kong?

How long before this turns into BTC-E 2.0 if it grows big enough?

I agree that it is quite logical to show us the "Apple, IBM, Deutsche Bank" team if it really exists.

This is my main question as well.

Do the operators of WCX plan to remain anonymous like the Liqui operators do?

Any answer for this yet?  Do the operators of WCX plan to remain anonymous?

I'm a bit confused, is it BNB or BNC?

Of course it is BNC man. I think it's obvious  Tongue

It is listed on CoinMarketCap as BNB. What is BNC?
