40 minutes is not enough. solo mining means that you have to solve the whole block. This is not like mining in pool where you are submitting shares. you have to leave it for several hours or a day at least. How many kh/s ?? how many gpu?

Are you solo gpu mining? is boinc running?

Having trouble getting my miner to run correctly for grc- not receiving any shares from reaper- is there anyway to troubleshoot this?  Also why was the integrated guiminer removed?

I was solo gpu mining, and boinc was running at 75-100.  It is off right now, as i hadnt been getting any shares for close to 40 minutes.

I was taking a look at the console, and it didnt seem like it was making any progress.  How do you tell if your miner is actually running?  my khashes was relatively low, 40ish at max (i have an nvidia that I pointed toward it).

It depends on the relative price and difficulty of BTC and LTC. I haven't mined LTC yet so I don't know if the mining rate corresponds to the difference in market value. I'm planning to try it and see if it's worth mining LTC or mine BTC and sell for LTC.

If mining really becomes unprofitable, perhaps move to folding.

When my friend told me about folding I felt guilty for using hardware to mine coins that could be used to cure disease. Definitely interesting though. :/

it would have been nice if there was some way to combine the two

Folding with a BTC payout? Tongue

We can make a new altcoin called science coin!

I think we need a new digital coin. Now is the time. Should be scrypt. ASIC has imposed the need. We GPU miners should use our graphics cards. Slowly but surely ASIC put us out of our GPU miners. The coin should be a substitute for BTC. Litecoin and novacoin are not good enough. Litecoin because it is the only silver in relation to the BTC, which is gold. Novacoin is not good because he premine. We need a new scrypt currency that is not premine. Also, all the money should go miner. No part of the developers at mining Freecoin, PPCoin and devcoin.

Feathercoin is scrypt based, and just released recently, so the difficulty is still relatively low

Re: 2500 Fc (Feathercoin)- Trade for LTC or BTC - Offers...

I think the presence of Asics are diluting the bitcoin brand in itself, consolidating processing power into the hands of a few, the exact opposite of what bitcoin was originally meant to be.

Call me old grumpy but if I had any bitcoins (!) I'd very much be loyal to bitcoins and only bitcoins.

No other digital currency is ever going to be really popular or useful until bitcoin succeeds (ie becomes readily recognized and accepted). All the other little copy-cat currencies are just confusing and diluting the bitcoin brand.

Heck, one of the rather silly objections to bitcoin is exactly the fact that "anyone can produce their own version", bitcoin 2.0, 3.0, diginuggets or whatever. Really that shouldn't make any difference. The existence of yen doesn't devalue the dollar for example. However right now we're trying to establish the concept and the brand, so it doesn't help to have people waving other currencies around.

I'm all for free competition, so I'm not saying 'don't offer them for sale'. I'm also for free speech, so am using it to advise others to "Not buy anything except bitocin".

Sorry about that.

Mining in a pool is not bad right now, considering that feathercoin is a geek has a 0% fee.
