I used the concept from philipma1957 - 3 separate ducts for 3 separate miners, then have some Y connectors to join them together.  Finally have a strong fan like this one:

... to pull the air out and through a window.  Then cover up the ducts with a few more blankets.

the downside here is that these 32 s5 are about as powerful as 2.5 of the new s9 or about 6 s7... and these older units use much more power.  To really move these units, I think the price has to go lower.

That's really quite good.  Someone in Alberta should setup a mining coop, for independent miners.

If you are mining more consistently, with a good rig, often times smaller miners that haven't been paid in a long time seem to get pushed up to the top of the queue, as soon as they hit the minimum payout threshold.

yep - honestly, an S7 will only make you around $100 a month right now, at the current difficulty.  With the increasing network difficulties, it won't break $80 in the next month or two.

I have limited free power - enough to run a few S7.  I bought these in December, and am no where near break even so far.  In your calculations, better factor in power supplies, shipping, down time (+++++), halving, etc.  Also factor in your time - the first time you work on this, it will take you a few hours to get everything setup and running smoothly.  You'll need to spend a few hours a week watching these machines, and verifying their output.

I'm sure I'm doing better than most, but the hardware producers (Bitmain) price their gear such that you will barely make a profit after running the gear for a year.  After that year, the machines are essentially out of date, and worth very little.

I used some flexible ducting to pipe the air from one room with less ventilation options to another room with clear access to an external vent.  I joined several of these ducts together, and was able to get good airflow by adding in a high CFM duct fan along the line.  You might run into some issues trying to force all of that air through a 4 inch opening though. 

I wouldn't be too worried about the differences between batch 8 and 10.  I doubt that they would be releasing a later batch that is less stable.  I think the main reason they have them separated out into two different products is because of the difference in pricing.  All of the specifications of the S7 are exactly the same - you're just paying for an earlier place in line if you buy batch 8. 

You can't buy batch 8, because the start of the Chinese New Year festival.  It would basically be a rush to get the payment and have them ship it out to you by tomorrow morning in China (Feb 3).  I would recommend just go ahead and buy batch 10, and save the money - with the expectation that you would receive those the shipment sometime in the 3rd or 4th week of Feb.

I'd be hesitant buying these from resellers for now.  Of the S7 I've ordered, 1 in 4 have had some sort of problem.  If something goes wrong, it would be better dealing with the company rather than a reseller.

For dealing with the noise, I did:
- add 3 feet of flexible ducting on the front and back fans (see the posts from philipma1957 on this subject), and covered the actual units up with a heavy blanket
- set the fan speed lower (my environment is very cool, so I am able to set the fan speed to 30%, and still run the servers around 40 to 50C)

You can get a sound meter app on your smartphone to see how much of an impact any changes you make have on the actual noise produced by the machines.

Got it - I can see that now.  Yes - I personally like the way I can see the profit values per month or grouped by difficulty jump, as on the Bitcoin Wisdom Calculator.  An option to export that out data out to a spreadsheet would also be quite killer

Also - better to be conservative on your initial date of starting mining.  If you order your miners from China, they might arrive in a week, or maybe 2.  Also for a new mine, it will probably take a couple days to setup, assuming no issues with your power supply.  I doubt you would have any revenue in January, with just 10 days left.

Right - BitcoinWisdom is the best option in my regard.  Add in your hardware cost there as well - and it becomes pretty clear how soon you break even (if at all).  Don't forget to factor in things like power supplies, cables, etc..  Also - better to estimate 10% less than your expected hashrate.  For a larger farm, you'll probably have to send some boards back to China for repair.  One of my miners currently is operating at 70% due to some less than ideal environmental condition.

In my case, I'm currently mining with very low cost electric (much lower than you have) and a small farm of S7.  It's going to be a long time before I break even

It's nice - but I find the BitcoinWisdom mining calculator much better still.  Yours only calculates your earnings after the next difficulty increase.  In reality, a miner needs to be able to model their returns after each difficulty increase.  Without taking that into consideration, a miner will have an over optimistic expectation of return.  Also - you should factor in the initial cost of hardware as well.  With a couple more updates, I think this would be great!

I'm running my S7s with EVGA SuperNOVA 1300 G2 80+ GOLD currently.  So far no problems - but you'll need to get 2 additional splitter cables (PCIEXSPLIT6).  There are more discussions about this on the forum here.

The screenshots above come from the Bitcoin Wisdom mining calculator  ( https://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/calculator ) .  Having free electricity is a good starting point, but it doesn't guarantee that you'll even earn back your initial investment in hardware.  Lots of other people are also buying S7 at the moment, and the network difficulty has been jumping rapidly.  The faster the difficulty rate increases, the more quickly the earning potential of your miner disappears.  Right now, you might earn .7 to .8 BTC a month with that S7.  By the time you get the shipment from Bitmain in January, it might be .5 to .6 per month, and a few months later, it will be down to .3.  So it's a race to get the miner up and running as fast as possible, to reach a breakeven point before the network difficulty becomes too high for the S7 to matter.
