OP asking wrong question. The correct question is: "how to know an ico is not a scam?"

you'll find there is no good answer to that question

Re: MAJOR WARNING - ALL COINS

Hello dear fellows,

I'm an economist and I just want to give you a head up to sell all your coins before they get worthless.
Including Bitcoins.

Today there are over 750 cryptocoins in existence.
Because literally anyone, any team of people can design and create their own coins. Very easily with all the open source codes available.

So, if anyone can create any amount of their own coins.
Guess what the value of that coin will be on the market?
0.
It's value is zero.
It's literally worth less than water or the air you're breathing.

Once people start to realize this, that the coins have no realistic valuation, each and every single one of every coin will be worth NADA. 0. ZERO. NOTHING.
Enjoy the ride while it last, and get out fast.

Regards

Carebear-would-be-professor has no idea about coins, no idea about money and no idea about economy. Boring, next!

What's a good coin launched right now?
by

on 01/06/2017, 11:45:19 UTC
Looking for a good coin that has launched recently or is going to launch soon.

Only limitation: no pos and no ico-sale-token.
So no prebuy or premine of any kind is allowed.

What's the good new pow-coins of lately?

Please don't even bother posting on the topic about how your premine is so small or your pos is different than the others or your ico sold so well. Nobody cares.

Just answer me this exact question:
What's the latest hot pow-alt with fair initial distribution?

Re: Buyouts and Mergers in Cryptocurrencies?

Companies have buildings, machines, land, vehicles and many more things of value.
Cryptocoin have no substance at all and aren't regulated so any merger should turn out a pretty scam.

Why would you want to merge two coins? It's just easier to relaunch it.

Altcoins are testnets for future altcoins or bitcoin (best case) or outright scams or even malware (worst case). None of it lasts very long and if you believe in any of these projects you're going to be a fool in the end. It's all smokes and mirrors.

only fair way of distribution is pow and even in pow-coin you have to pay attention to certain details to make sure you're not buying into a scam.

Re: Litecoins, LTC Stuck

It will go through at some point even without fee. You just have to wait.
If you're in a hurry you can perform a doublespend on it by signing another transaction for the same coins so the network will reject both transactions, drops both from the mempool and the coins are back to your wallet.
For better instructions on this use google how to doublespend.
No need to bother a miner, really.

too late for entry. Better think about shorting it. LTC was a good buy when it was 3$ to 5$. BTS i wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole.

Re: Market is going to dump on you at some point

Maybe worth mentioning: 2013 and 2014 bubbles had higher interest from the www in general - and marketcap is much higher now than it was back then.
Currently interest in btc is half as big as it was on the peak in 2013/14 and only 2/3 from the bubble in early 2013.
Look, Litecoin had much higher interest in 2013/14 than Ethereum has now.

Don't think there's no risk. It might be overvalued already. Ethereum and LTC certainly are overvalued aswell as ripple, nem and many other alts.

not yet, but at some point - just don't forget   Wink

Thats just the name of the game its all about who strikes first but this is some thing new we are about to experience

Bitcoin prices are at their highest we have ever seen and some altcoins are equally soaring i dont think its the time to panic sell hold longer.

Yes something new arrised, thats something is the new members buying bitcoin to buy other coins, thats why bitcoin and all altcoins gonna have price high records every day.

the times where the old traders and whales dictates the market is over ! the power now is between the hands of the new members investing in altcoins. whales gonna always bump and dump but the tendency of all coins gonna be high day after week after months from now.

What happens when every noob has bought and new buyers come in slower? What happens when everyone has bought all the coins they wanted?  Wink

Re: Altcoins price can be manipulate?
by
ratatatat
on 10/05/2017, 04:31:19 UTC
Is it true, Altcoins price can be manipulate?
I see so many peoples in any Ann thread of altcoins ask for pump and dump. I just don't understand, is this how cryptocurrencies works? While forex trading market move by good news or bad news in around the world.
If Dev or big holders can easy manipulate the price of some altcoins, I think it's not interesting anymore.

How are these returns not interesting?
It might be a little late to join the party but in general there's nothing wrong with cashing in on a pump.

Forex works the same way just with smaller swings and the manipulator is the central bank not a random dude with some btc holdings somewhere but that actually doesn't make a difference in the end of the day.
Stockmarkets are pumps and dumps too; just on a multi-decade window instead of fast window like in alts.
I think it's rather intersting for its humongous volatility.

There isn't a single market in the whole world that's not pump and dump to some degree. They all are. Big holders always want to drive up the price; that's just human nature.

Your ordinary trading can affect the market too so depending on your definition of manipulation your ordinary trading could be called manipulation too. Let's say you own 1000$ of a very small coin and you sell in one go. Price drops for 10% because of your selling. Have you manipulated the price now?

If you want to make money on pumps you need to enter early and exit in profit. Don't join late!

Morality has no place in trading, at least not directly in the action. Markets are battlefields, once you join the battle you can't think about morality. Just avoid unethical coins, there is a lot of them. But trading a pump on a ethically good coin i see nothing wrong with that. Just don't support scams, support the good coins instead.
Price goes up a lot and comes down a lot; that's normal. Get used to it and avoid holding the bag when it comes down.

That being said; altcoins still react to news of course. Not always but in some situations they do. Good and bad news can still affect the market.

Actually rigging a market can not be done 100% all the time unless the whale owns 99% of the coins. Manipulation of a market can cost a whale big money too; it's not without risk for them.
