Where were the coins stored? Bitcoin wallet on your desktop computer? Phone wallet, online wallet? Depending on where they were we can speculate on what happened.

Re: Breaking News: Satoshi sighted as member of "the Foundation"
by
rayfloyd

I pointed Jon Matonis to this thread and asked for comment, as he is a founding member of the Bitcoin Foundation

Here's what he said:
Quote
Satoshi was added as a courtesy It would have been more arrogant to exclude Satoshi as his designated heir to development was also a founding member. If requested to, I'm sure it wouldn't be a problem to remove.

I don't think there's anything to get upset about here, just a symbolic move.  Keep in mind The Bitcoin Foundation has no formal standing, it's just a joint effort by early pillars within the community to centralize some of the attention to better address it, and to help target development.   They have no real power besides who their members are and what they voluntarily do (except Gavin, who is paid to develop)

"If bitcoin was so good they would remove the encryption so everyone would know what is going on, it's clearly doomed to fail as everything is encrypted"

I... I...  why do people speak?

It HAS to be a troll... He can't be serious? Right? Guys? Oh shit....

Re: 6 days after removing ads off my website and replaced with BTC donations.

Why not do both?  A donation of .01 and you could stuff a cookie in their browser and give them a secret link for an ad free experience.  I like the idea, but like the rest of the folks here said, relevant adverts are not necessarily a bad thing.  There is a reason Google is one of the richest companies in the world, because they understand this.  You should too!

That said, I'm not going to knock anyone for incorporating bitcoin into their site.  So, hats off to you, and I hope more sites, big or small, do the same thing.

I like that idea, but I'd rather cut out all ads to begin with and give the user a better experience. I'm still fine tuning the ideas so I'll take this into consideration though.

When I download games on android, I'll gladly pay for an ad free version if I like the game. I would do the same with a website I like. That is if I didn't use adblock though.

Ahh well. When you buy a share it means someone has taken the exact opposite view and sold it to you, there's no value judgement.

But when you ask for opinions and then take umbrage about comments forthcoming, negative remarks from the OP and limp-fisted commentators such as yourself deserve to be lambasted and ridiculed for nativity.

You can fuck off now.

Trolls like you should be banned on sight.

To each their own. I work hard on the site and if people find value in it then they have a choice to contribute.

You started the topic seeking the opinions of other people. You need to dial down on the noob and get your shit together - you asked for commentary, you got it. Sure you can disagree, that's only to be expected, but the very least you can be is appreciative that people have commented.

Here's what you wrote: "I'd like to get your feedback on this move away from traditional ads to BTC only donations. What do you think?"

Refer to my specific advertising verses begging comments in the posts above. Maybe if you read and think about them it will help you stop pretending that you are eating dust from the Moon, ok?

Sad

There's a subtle difference between constructive criticism, and giving an opinion while acting like an asshole. All of your replies come off as mean and uncalled for.

Life doesn't always follow established reasoning...  It is entirely possible that an unknown "tadpole" journalist found the creator of bitcoin.  Life is not controlled by men or an organization; life is divinely scripted.

You lost me at divinely

what about fate or destiny?

more plausible :p

I find it  strange that a person wich such deep and broad interests is just found on google for fire guns, trains and stupid things on Amazon. Also his english i not good, i don't know how he used to write here on the board(what was his username?) and other non formal means. But the articles could not be writen by him, excepet if someone else was reviewing the text.

"I am no longer involved in that and I cannot discuss it. It's been turned over to other people. They are in charge of it now. I no longer have any connection."

This quote may very well be out of context. Reporters sometimes like to take Answer #2 and staple it to Question #1

There is also no context of this particular answer

If any of you who think gavin is confirming this actually read the article, you will see that it is specified in it that gavin has only spoke to satoshi through emails and private message on here and that satoshi dodged every question about him and they talked only about code.

If they were hacked that means something wasn't working properly (Is this really confirmed?). And obviously they didn't know how to handle bitcoin transactions properly. By no means has there been no problems, even if we ignore poor coding practises.

The reason and the how to of the hack might not be poor [or not] web backend. It could also be bad sys admin and bad system security or even just internal.
