Ya if you keep your fixed BTC rate your customers will go pay cash somewhere else.... cheaper than the fixed rate in BTC. Somewhere along the line you do need to compensate for your rates when BTC was low and you took the hit. I would reward myself a little extra for as long as you can, after all, the miners you maintain would not benefit the owners if they were not running  Wink
Well, this is true to an extent: Technically the skills needed to fix these things are limited and as the value of bitcoin rises the value of repairing a miner rises as well. That was the logic I used to not raise prices when it was at $300; the miners were worth "less" therefore I should not charge the same amount in dollars since I'm trying to work the concept of value into bitcoin.

That said when it hit 900 I started decreasing my prices to compensate for the "new normal" instead of $600. I could re-price again at $1200, but at some point the constant re-framing of prices becomes a bit of a pain.

Thus it would be nice for bitcoin to stick at a price for awhile. :-)

C

maybe you should stick your price to hash power/generated btc per machine...like 10% of it...it is not like the miners make less money just because the price is rising...quite the contrary

we are in historic territory and it very much looks like we will see a new ATH very soon...

funds at bfx are compared to scenarios in the past very bearish (which is actually VERY bullish in my opinion)

whatever will happen, it is very exciting and everybody who is into bitcoin should feel very lucky

Re: US CPI and Europe already deflating
by
razorramon
on 10/03/2015, 07:33:53 UTC
I missed both of these since I pay attention to neither, but the US CPI and Europe are already deflating.

Europe continues to expand its yield flattening campaign while refusing to lower interest rates.

The US CPI has already started to deflate, and it leads the PCE, the Fed's measurement of inflation.

The PCE is already at 0.2%, probably one month from true deflation, so the US is probably already deflating.

Hearing Fed governors try to explain the rationality of raising rates while in a deflation will be very entertaining.

Oil at $50 and going down means deflation for the foreseeable future without lowered interest rates.

Has the Fed backed itself into a corner with QE since it's so overweight long term assets?  Can they even lower interest rates which would cause banks to demand back those long term assets, possibly causing the Fed to require a bailout from its losses?

The US and European central banks may only have offers that they have to refuse to prevent further deflation.

I'll give this to central banks: never a dull moment.
I am no economist, so I don't understand how printing so much money, which should lead to inflation being rampant, has led to deflation, but that is where we are now.

I tend to see the current deflation as a 'good' deflation, as it comes from reductions in energy prices, meaning that people have more money in their pockets, but it won't help countries that are in debt as their debt increases with deflation, making it even less manageable than it is now (it already isn't manageble!)

I am no economist either....my guess is you print a lot of money and give it to someone who doesnt spend it

Changed the formatting for you.

jeez...what happened there...Smiley
