Ethereum+: A Peer-to-Peer Digital Asset System
Abstract. The Ethereum+ network is a peer-to-peer digital asset system that enables direct exchange of value without going through a central party. A zero compromise blockchain with the inherent parallelism and performance characteristics of an unspent transaction output (UTXO) based architecture and the Turing Complete programming of Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) architectures. This is a breakthrough smart contracting and digital asset system based on SHA512 proof-of-work, designed for extreme throughput and scale.

Even though ASIC's are eating up the Skein (and other algo) market not everyone can afford an ASIC which still make GPU mining a viable option.
can you afford 5x gtx1080ti? If you can that means you can afford one X10 Giant thang. Nevermind the power cost of 5 cards

Why pick Skein which is asic friendly algo - its unminable on GFX before block 1000 - all the asic owners just rushing to early mine, already hashrate trough the roof
I had research brought to me that showed Skein is more profitable than some slightly more ASIC-resistant options that we were considering. Also, they presented evidence of successful coin execution vs some of those other ones.
x17 would have been the way to go as it also consumes less energy. These Skein ASIC miners have a lot of muscle power even though the devices are very expensive.
And they are hardcorelly power efficient - the baikal one does 5GH/s with 120 Watt, GTX 1080 does 500+ MH/s for much more than 120 Watt - this really is a waste of time and power with GPUs because of the algo selected.
Another coin that will only benefit the big mining operations.
