So  Facebook, Google and multiple sites have my data. Why should I take FLARE's word that the data won't be used? Smiley

If you read the terms and conditions you have agreed to on these many platforms, they explicitly say that they will harvest your data and sell it to third parties for advertising purposes. Along with granting them full rights to your uploaded data. So if you try to sue them for this they will undoubtedly win. Our terms and conditions will not ask you to hand over the rights to your data, and will explicitly state that we will not collect any of your private data. If we break our own terms and conditions we will be liable for that and can be held accountable.

Most importantly Flare doesn't need your private data to make money, we just need you to contribute some storage to: 1) store other users' social content and 2) sell to clients (like dropbox does) and give most of the profits to you

Is there any guard to prevent leaking of personal data which will be provided willingly accidentaly?

All uploaded content will be encrypted and permissions to view it will be handled by Ethereum smart contracts and they can only be granted/revoked by users who publish the content. So if you decide to delete a post, nobody will have access to it anymore. But as with every network, email or mailing a letter to someone: if you send them something and they receive it, you can't make them unsee it (they can screenshot it for instance)

Can we change followers count during campaign? From one day I started to ask this questions every Bounty I join.

Also I want to reserve Russian Translation.

We haven’t offered the ability to change follower counts. However, if your count does increase from one band to the next (for example, 950 to 1050), then please do email us at bounties@flare-global.com so that your bounties will be given more stakes  Wink

Thank you for offering your translation services, we've been receiving a LOT of applications for translation bounties and we are currently reviewing them, we will start confirming by the end of the week who gets which translation.

Many thanks to all who've joined our bounty program!!!

In the twitter form missing the wallet field? How will you pay the bounty?

We will be contacting account owners directly to ask for wallet addresses after the crowdsale ends. Otherwise anyone could claim to be a certain account and put up their address.

Good question. And another one: How about reporting in twitter campaign?

After the crowdsale completes, we will review user’s posts through the Twitter and Facebook APIs. We will use software to count up all the posts and then send out the FLR to your wallet.

The fact is that after 1000 retweets, old retweets disappear, and you can not count - what will you do in this case?

We are aware of the API retweet limit. Instead of querying for the IDs of the retweets we will query for the IDs of the users who retweeted us:
https://developer.twitter.com/en/docs/tweets/post-and-engage/api-reference/get-statuses-retweeters-ids
There is a 75 request per 15min window limit on that call. but no limits on how far back IDs can be retrieved, so we can get a full list of users who retweeted us on each post. We simply repeat this for all our posts and add up all the totals to pay out bounties.

What is the main difference in relation to nexus.social?

Hi Ligareaux,

The biggest difference for our users is that unlike nexus.social we don’t rely on advertising for revenue. Instead users contribute a small amount of storage, we hire out that storage to clients and give the profits to our users (in FLR coin). Over time as the network grows, FLR will be worth more so our early adopters make more from their storage contributions.

Hi everyone, I’m Reaal, one of the developers for Flare.

Flare is a social network powered by decentralised storage. We have a strong team based out of the University of Oxford.

Social networks today harvest your private personal data and use it to sell you ads. Companies like Facebook record your every scroll, sell your private data to third parties, and threaten both individual sovereignty and healthy democracy.

Flare intends to disrupt this method of monetisation, by building a social network powered by decentralised storage. On Flare, instead of paying with your private data, you contribute a small amount of storage to the network. Your data is encrypted and kept private on the blockchain.

Flare is a social network powered and owned by you.
