I think it is time we try and see if BIPS can make a difference in this case.

So OK listen guys, I will take it upon myself getting Wikimedia to accept Bitcoin for donations being based in Europe and all, if that will have anything to say. I will report back in this thread with my progress.

I have already create a preliminary integration for them, so they will get the opportunity of accepting Bitcoin payment served on a silver plate.

The permalink is as follows:

https://bips.me/checkout/invoice/39d/Yb  - $10 donation amount
https://bips.me/checkout/invoice/39d/Zb  - $100 donation amount

Any Bitcoin paid to these invoices will be sent directly to Wikimedia Foundation, if for any reason anyone would pay to them before Wikimedia Foundation agrees to run a test.

A very elaborate email was just sent to the Wikimedia Foundation, explaining "How would it work", "Automatically conversion", "Daily bank wires in their own defined currency", and of cause the BIPS account details with everything defined, only missing their bank account information.

Kind regards
Kris

I would recommend no one support Wikimedia until they officially accept BTC.

I did insert my username and password correctly, but I did not get into my account. Then it said "You're blocked for 24 hours, too many attempts". I did write to support, what else can I do than just wait for 24 h and try to again recover my password or if they reply to my message? I have OTP so I don't think possible hacker can withdraw my money, but I can't trade myself either and I did though that I would buy and now I can't...

My dollars are still stuck in gox. I can't login and they have not yet fixed the problem. They said there have not been any transactions so my dollars are "safe" but I can't trade... so if the trend starts to go up I will lose money.

Problem is that my ip is blocked because of too many attemps to login. They can reset it, but that's useless because login still does not accept my username & password. And if I try to recover my password, I cant because my ip is blocked. That block they can't reset instantly, but their development team is doing the best they can (nice bs). They have said that the problem is in their end so my attempted password is correct.

I have been bombing them with messages, but after four days they still haven't fixed this problem... These kind of problems are not the ones you should be facing when dealing with the biggest BTC exchange.

Can't you just go to another internet connection - public wifi - to prove or disprove the ip block excuse?

As for myself, in the BTC world I have a # of bets.

1 that went badly & is most likely gone to ASX project: 50GH/s
1 to BFL (2 Jallys): 10GH/s
1 to Bitfury or KnC: 50 or 100GH/s
Total planned: 110-160GH/s, on hand: none

Got enough funds I can afford the 50GH/s BF or a 100GH/s KnC. Bitfury will most likely make early Oct. & it's upgradeable to 400GH/s which helps for planning against obsolescence but KnC gets you 50GH/s more for only $200 more *if* they can meet their schedule. Dilemma, dilemma.

BTW, flipped a Jally I got for cheap & I nearly made ROI on the pre-orders I've made even including the ASX Project noobtastic brain fart!  Grin

I'm long on BTC. Also own 1.01 AM shares because I like the dividends aspect and that they re-invest 25% to new TH.

Never heard of ASX Project before but there site indicates they have 150Gh/s units in stock.  Is your 50Gh/s unit being shipped now?

I'm told my 50GH/s unit is "Complete": http://www.reddit.com/r/BitcoinMining/comments/1j71eq/so_im_told_my_upgradable_50gh_1k_asic_clone_order/

No updates since. Sad

Stay away! Until you hear of someone receiving an ASX unit, don't send them a Satoshi!

The picture of the chip on their website is a fake.

Considering their Sept ship date and the incoming rise in difficulty?

Hash rate
has jumped to 297,621Gh/s from 187,281GH/s since July 11th a 59% rise in 10 days!

This is only the beginning of huge spike in ASIC deliveries. No machine will repay investment if delivered in October!

KnCMiner's machines are likely to be delayed even if only slightly. Is expected with a complex & advanced machine as is being offered. Especially considering even existing proven manufacturers are delivering late.

I have an order & am still worried about coming difficulty rises resulting in negative ROI.

Where are you seeing those hash rates?  I'm using this chart - http://bitcoindifficulty.com/

If my bank account isn't verified with Coinbase can I still reserve coins at this price while they verify it?

Yes, verification doesn't stop trading it only increases your daily limit from 10 to 50 BTC.  Personally though i'd never recommend coinbase as the fees are far to high.  Do something like campbx (dwolla deposits).

This thread has been hijacked and wrecked.

It was supposed to be about the media, now it's about the inertia, acceleration, vacuum, and gravity.
Indeed.

Given the gravity of the situation, and the inertia of the mainstream media, and the vacuum which is the public mind, why would one think the subject could be accelerated?

Brilliant!

Because someone looking to manipulate the price would never think of actually buying coins....right?

So a graph of bought coins making available coins drop is clearly proof that those buys were manipulated, right? LOL.

you can easily see the price is being manipulated right now...check order books on the highest volume exchanges.

If I buy a currency via e-trade, scottrade, or the other with USD i'm not required to have a license.  Why would bitcoin be any different?

I'd be interested to hear arguments against.

If we all send in emails maybe they'll reconsider.  I just sent one encouraging them to have a look at merchant services from bitpay and coinbase.

Bought coins at coinbase.com.. Immidetialey I regret this decision. It's a pump if I ever saw one!!!

Still, we seem to be close to the bottom or at least the slide is slowing down.

Coinbase is far to expensive for buying coins, set yourself up with an exchange.

Anyone who knows anything about bitcoin prices doesnt use bitstamp for anything but as a useful history check anyway.
You should explain this a little bit in details... anywhy what has bitstamp with this thread?

I was just thinking the samething!
