Re: [error] Fatal LevelDB error: Corruption: block checksum mismatch

It’s not normal for Bitcoin Core data to corrupt that often. Since you’re using an external SSD, the issue could be related to write caching or how the drive handles sudden power cuts/disconnects. Even if you always use bitcoin-cli stop, the OS might still have data in memory that hasn’t been flushed to disk yet.

A few things to try:

Make sure your SSD is formatted with a journaling filesystem (ext4/NTFS) instead of exFAT/FAT32.

After stopping bitcoind, run sync before unmounting the drive to ensure all writes are flushed.

Check system logs (dmesg or Event Viewer) for any I/O or USB errors.

If possible, test running the node on an internal SSD to confirm if the external drive is the root cause.

If the corruption disappears on internal storage, then the external SSD setup is likely the weak point.

You’re right — it really doesn’t make sense. Politics has always been a space with strong opinions, but that doesn’t justify violence. The problem seems to be that some people treat disagreement as a personal attack rather than just a difference of opinion.

Social media amplifies anger and outrage, which probably makes it worse. Ideally, people should be able to disagree, debate respectfully, and then move on without it escalating to threats or violence.

It’s sad that history keeps repeating itself, but conversations like this are important to remind people that disagreement doesn’t equal enemy.

Re: Transactions listed
by

This usually happens when your wallet didn’t see that transaction during the initial scan or it’s associated with a key/path your wallet didn’t import correctly. A few things you can try:

Rescan the blockchain when importing your wallet:

bitcoin-cli importwallet "yourwalletfile" true

or if using importprivkey:

bitcoin-cli importprivkey "yourprivatekey" "" true

The true flag forces a rescan, which usually picks up missing transactions.

Check if the missing transaction is to a change address generated by the wallet. Some wallets don’t track old change addresses automatically.

If you have the exact TXID, you can verify it on your node:

bitcoin-cli getrawtransaction "TXID" true

Then make sure the address belongs to your imported keys.

In most cases, a rescan after proper import will load the missing transaction.

That kind of frequent corruption is not normal. Bitcoin Core’s database is usually very reliable if the hardware and filesystem are stable. A few things you might want to check:

External SSDs (especially USB drives) can sometimes cause write issues if the cable, port, or power delivery isn’t stable. Even if you run bitcoin-cli stop, if the OS still has cached writes in memory and the drive disconnects early, corruption can happen.

Make sure your SSD is formatted with a filesystem that handles journaling well (e.g., ext4 on Linux). FAT32/ExFAT can be more fragile with heavy database writes.

Try disabling “write cache” on the external drive or ensure sync is fully complete before unplugging/umounting.

If possible, run the node on an internal SSD or at least test it there. That will confirm if the external drive is the weak point.

In short: it’s not Bitcoin Core itself causing this — it’s almost always the storage medium or how the OS flushes data.

Re: Dirty bitcoin risk?

Good point you raised.

It’s not just FUD in my opinion — blockchain analytics firms are getting more powerful, and regulators are definitely pushing exchanges to blacklist “tainted” coins. That said, BTC itself doesn’t discriminate, it’s always fungible on-chain. The problem comes from centralized exchanges and custodians choosing to treat some coins as “dirty” and others as “clean.”

For regular users, the risk is real if you’re moving coins through KYC exchanges or holding them there. If you self-custody and use BTC peer-to-peer, it’s much harder for anyone to freeze your funds.

So yes, it’s partly a way to funnel people into regulated exchanges, but also a genuine issue to be aware of — especially for those who don’t check the source of their coins.

about different altcoin mining options
by

Hello miners,

I’ve been reading about different altcoin mining options and noticed many projects promoting “easy mining” or even “mobile mining” (e.g., Pi, Bee, etc.).

My question is:
👉 From a technical perspective, do these coins provide any real mining process (hash rate, difficulty adjustment, consensus mechanism) or are they more like simulations with no real Proof-of-Work/Proof-of-Stake behind them?

Also, compared to traditional GPU/ASIC mining for altcoins like ETH-classic, Kaspa, or others, do you see any ROI potential in such mobile mining projects, or are they just community-driven hype with no actual mining economics?

Looking forward to insights from experienced miners.

Dear I know Bitcoin . I want to know Bitcoin Satoshi this new project many people mining on phone apps

What project are you talking about? or are you asking about bitcoin? if you're asking about bitcoin that doesn't sound right because according to your account you're not a complete newbie to bitcoin. This account was created in 2017 and before that this account has participated in many bounty campaigns before. And if you are really asking about bitcoin this account has changed hands, as I can see this account just woke up after a long time. This is your first post from 2021.
